  1. Hi guys I need to get a new PC for non-gaming purposes. I was using an old laptop but it's time for that to go away. I don't want a big desktop because this is going to be in the living room, attached to a 4K TV, and I don't want another laptop either because I don't want my kids 'borrowing' it to go do stuff elsewhere. I was looking at the old 'Skull Canyon' nuc, it's pretty cheap now Hades is out. I can mount it to the TV and that should keep my wife happy (She hates cables). All I need it for is for my wife to update her blog, handle some light torrenting and to watch some 4K Bluray rips when we have guests over. My question is, how does 'SC' go with 4K video? I've looked at a lot of reviews and most seem to focus on gaming performance. I just need to know if this thing is gonna struggle playing back a 4K Bluray remux. Thanks
  2. I just got my VIVE yesterday. I play in a 3 x 2.5 m area and don't feel tight for space at all while in game. I was running a GTX950 but it wasn't getting great results in the Steam VR test app so I dropped for GTX1080 at the same time. I've only had it for one night, but I gotta say it's amazing. I spent the whole evening playing Job Simulator with my kids and we all had a ball with it. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in the experience.
  3. I have a GTX950 atm. Would love to drop in something a bit more powerful so I can play Star Citizen at more that 2fps.
  4. Hi everyone. It's great to finally be a member of the LTT community. With my new job I thought the LTT forum would be a great source of knowledge to help me out, also a great place to make some new friends. A little bit about me. I've been around PC's my whole life. My father had a TRS-80 when he got into it as a hobby and after a few years of mucking around on that and a tandy color computer he eventually bought me my own XT. I've been responsible for my own PC's ever since. I spent most of the last 10 years in various LVL 1 and 2 support positions. That work finally paid off and I recently moved up to take a job as IT manager at a local secondary school. It's been a pretty full on move and I look forward to sharing some of these experiences over time. For now just HI and glad to be on-board finally! *also thanks so much to Colton and the forum team for helping me out with getting registered and stuff.
