  1. It looks like these are both case fans. What about a radiator fan?
  2. which of these is for radiator and which for a case? I'm not a fan of the noise level at higher rpm because I would like something that is less noisy. I know at lower rpm they are very quiet, but at higher rpm they are more noisy than some other fans. The problem is that the other fans don't perform as well on lower rpm etc... so I'm not really sure if I should go for them plus that ugly brownish color, although, the black color fans they just started making are looking nice.
  3. problem solved, i left the pc running over night and the updates were eventually downloaded. Really annoying that it has to take that long.
  4. Question1: Is there a difference between a regular case fan and a radiator fan? Question2: What is the best fan in terms of noise levels at higher and lower rpm? Question3: What fan do you use in your system now? These questions above are just some general questions for the forums. I hear good things being said about Noctua fans, but i'm not a fan of their noise level or ugly colors. Does anyone else have some suggestions. I'm using the stock fans that came with my Evolv enthoo case and the stock fans for my corsair H110i GTX. It sounds like the corsair fans make the most noise inside the case and I would like to get fans that are quieter if anyone has some suggestions, thanks.
  5. what do you mean by best? It's the best based on what? price to performance?
  6. I was having this issue also and after doing research on the available options I came to a few conclusions. The AIO cooler leaking is like winning the lottery. Yes it can happen, but odds are it won't happen to you. In terms of performance the Noctua air cooler, according to some reviews online, did outperform slightly. The performance levels were mostly on par with each other and the differences were marginal. Basically it comes down to aesthetic preference and noise level. I went with a corsair H110i GTX, it's been working great. I'm very happy with it mainly because I like the look and the noise level is not as low as I would like. I think that might be because of the stock fans on it. Now I'm going to ask around on forums which fans are the best for silence/look because the top of the line fans all perform about the same in terms of cooling so again the choice just comes down to looks/noise levels. I hope that helps.
  7. Also, I bet with all the information that win10 is collecting it's probably taking up a lot of traffic so I'm assuming it's a factor in the slow updates too.
  8. I'm actually running it now and it's checking for updates again. Should I unplug the internet connection or will that disrupt it?
  9. I tried this also, the weird part is that it would finish the download to 100% than it would start searching for updates and also just hang there. I didn't give it much time for the updates, maybe like 30 min than decided to quit and try something else. I'll give it a shot with your link. Maybe the combination of things i did earlier like upgrade ie8 to ie11 will make a diff this time around. Wish me luck. If not maybe I'll just buy a fresh copy of win10 or something.
  10. I guess I could just buy a win10 key while it's cheap now...
  11. Windows explicitly said it's free for a limited time. it will only remain free until june or july. i don't know the exact date, but I would like to get the free upgrade now because I have it already on my laptop and i love it so far. It's running smoother and cleaner with "lag" issues. Besides they will stop support windows 7 eventually. As far as the search issue, either they fixed it or I haven't noticed. Still my main problem is that windows will not update at all beyond the sp1 install which came with the cd anyway.
  12. Hi community, I've spent a few hours trying to find a solution to my problem. I recently completed a new rig with w7 sp1. installed the drivers etc. than I ran windows update and it just hangs saying that's checking for updates. I read somewhere in a forum that you need to update ie8 to a higher version so I did that and still nothing. I even installed silverlight to see if that might help, besides some new options in the update settings it still just hangs. I'm not really sure what to do at this point. I really just want to upgrade to windows 10 while it's still free with the option to revert to windows 7 in case microsoft fouls up win10 in the future, but anyway without doing all the prior updates it won't let me. Another forum mentioned that windows is reserving it's bandwidth for win10 upgrades, but I let window update run for over 3 hours and still nothing. Anyone have some suggestions? Thanks all!
  13. What about using cpu-z ? It has a stress test option doesn't it?
  14. Intel says not to go over 66.8c so if one is OC than higher temp is normal? More specifically what's an actually safe temp?
  15. I'm also new to OC. Haven't done it yet and still debating if the risk is worth the reward, but at least I've learned some useful things on this thread. Thanks all for your input to Changrai.
  16. Also, assume everything else in the universe is the same including mobo/ram/ssd/hdd etc...
  17. hi, does anyone know which processor is better for OC between i7-5820k vs i7-5930k? I'm debating which one is better to use for OC assuming price is not an issue here. If price is not an issue what would you pick and why?
  18. oh I see... that's the catch. i figured as much, thanks for the heads up.
  19. no magic, but you can use the providers app on the tv and stream movies/tv that way. I haven't done it myself, but that's what the provider told me is another option.
  20. thanks for the info everyone, it's pretty sheety of these companies to force these boxes without being upfront about it. It should be included in their fee... not a "by the way" item later on. I will shop around for a different provider. Another thing someone told me was getting a smart tv would also do the trick, but those are crazy expensive right now.
  21. I was looking at this item, but it doesn't say if it's compatible with fiber optics. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Professional-RF-Coax-To-Composite-RCA-Video-Demodulator-NTSC-CATV-Tuner-/321378879367?
  22. I'm talking about the tv boxes not the internet. I'm already using my own router with their modem, thanks.
  23. Hello, Lately, I've been trying to save money by cutting back on services/fees on some of my bills that I don't really need. As I was searching every charge on each bill I noticed I was paying a rental fee for my fiber optic service. I called the provider and asked them to explain the charges to me. It turns out the setup box they installed on multiple televisions comes with a rental fee. So now I find myself paying almost the same for the rental fee as the actual service. That got me thinking. Is there a DIY alternative way around these scam boxes... i mean setup boxes. I'm not very familiar with fiber optics and would like some help from knowledgeable people. I am trying to replace my setup boxes with anything that would be compatible. Also, they will not sell the boxes to me. I'm assuming because it's more profitable for them to charge rent as I can clearly see from my bill. They told me that I'm limited to only using their boxes if I want to continue using the services because it will not be compatible with any other coax box. Does anyone know if that's true or is just another selling point on their end?
  24. final result... I went with the D-Link DIR-868L Wireless AC1750 only because I got a great deal for it on ebay at $75.
