  1. Cheap is relative I pay ~25$ per DIMM, yet it's used. Sometimes used hardware is a pure bargain
  2. The memory is not compatible. You need more expensive RAM, not the cheap which was built in into the R720.
  3. Thats just bullshit I've got a HP DL360p Gen8 with SSDs not from HP and they work like a charme (2Gb/s RW). Even older ProLiants wont have problems. BUT: I recommend you to choose the HP DL380 G7 - its quieter than the 360 and has more expansion place.
  4. For Hardware I could recomemend HP ProLiant Servers, speficially the HP DL360p Gen8. Got one with 2x Intel Xeon E5 2687W v2, 192GB RAM, 8x 480GB Micron Datacenter SSD for ~3.200€. Take 5 of them and you get a enormous Virtualization-Cluster. And a fitting datacenter would be the Equinix, Telecity or Telehouse (all located in Frankfurt am Main). For more Datacenters take datacentermap.com as an example. Kind regards, Tim
