"did you just POE your computer" mean?

 

I know he killed a computer but what does the term mean?

    You're close. It's Power over Ethernet not Power on Ethernet. Same difference but I'm here before you start throwing that around and annoying the networking aficionados.

     

    There's a number of different standards for PoE with different voltages based on standard but the common ones are 12V, 24V, & 48V DC.

     

    So if you are using a PoE injector that lacks the ability to distinguish a PoE compatible device from a non-PoE compliant device you will fry the hell out of the network controller and possibly anything else in adjacent circuits.
