This is blocked, but thanks for the advice anyways! To be clear to everyone, I'm not trying to skirt around my company's policies. From what I can tell, the blocklist found at C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Ad Blocking\blocklist looks like it's a list of addresses that Edge is blocking by reading the .txt file. I just wanted to see if anyone knew if it was possible to manually add to that list to block all ad related traffic.
-
It's not going to break any policy. I was really just hoping to add to the list of the blocklist.txt sites that are found in the Edge folder. It already has plenty of sites that it blocks, but they're mostly adult advertising websites. The list is generated from Edge, not my company. I figure if anything I'm actually making my PC MORE secure by blocking those ads if I could add to the list.

Oh I'm in IT. Not looking to do anything against our company policy, just wanted to see if it was possible to add a blocklist to that .txt file and manually block ads coming in. We don't trust extensions due to data sharing/gathering. I was more or less hoping to create my own blocklist locally. I'm wondering if setting up a PiHole at my house would work for blocking ads on the work PC when I work from home (which is most of the time), but I'm not sure it would have any effect because we tunnel into work with a VPN.

Just the question above. Hope this is the right sub to post this in. I listen to brown/green noise to relax on YouTube while I work, and sometimes the occasional tech video as I'm waiting for tickets to come in or vendors to respond. Our company has locked out extensions for all browsers, so I was wondering if I could edit the blocklist file that MS Edge creates when you turn on adblocking within the browser. It looks like it only blocks explicit sites, but I was wondering if I couldn't get any/all addresses from the "Advertising Lists" section of Firebog.net. The path is C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Ad Blocking\blocklist It looks like it's a bunch of addresses to block there, although they aren't listed in any form or order, just a continuous page of blocks. Anyone know if it's possible to edit the blocklist.txt file in any way so I can block ads manually?

Budget (including currency): $100 for cables Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey everyone, I just built a new PC in the Xtia Xproto ATX case, and my cables are a mess. I basically just had to smash all the cables into the area in front of the power supply. I'd like to water cool both the CPU and GPU next year, so cleaning up and maximizing the space is a big priority, although not an immediate one. At first I thought I could just go online, design some cool looking cables, get a custom length and call it a day. But I was terribly wrong. I can only find custom cable length in VERY specific scenarios, mostly going by the case. I've got a Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 850W PSU and the Xproto ATX case. There's also a 24 pin to 28 pin cable, but I'm not seeing any info on that on custom cable websites. From what I can find, the extra cables are used for voltage monitoring, but I wouldn't want to order cables from a website and get something that doesn't match. Is it possible to get custom cables and a custom length for them, while also getting this 24 to 28 pin cable? Any help is appreciated. I'm in way over my head.

Gen 3 NVMe OS & Gen 4 gaming bottleneck question.

Thank you. Does having it tied directly to the CPU affect load times or performance? -

This is exactly what I was after. Thank you so much. And you're right, I deal with a very few select security programs for my company, and I wasn't sure if games were dependant on the OS for any of their procedures. -

Hey everyone, I just ordered two WD SN850x ssds and had a question about a bottleneck to my older gen 3 ssds. Is there any potential downside to placing my OS on my older Gen 3 drives and then placing all my games/mods on the newer Gen 4 ones? I actually do currently store my Steam/Epic/GoG download files on my gaming SSD, but now that I'm going to more than double my speed I didn't want to have any sort of a bottleneck between my gaming drives and my OS drive for the latest games coming out. So OS on Gen 3 and Games on Gen 4 no problem? Or potential problem for speed? -Don't know if it matters, but I'm going to be placing all 4 drives on the MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk Motherboard. Thanks.

Budget (including currency): $400 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey everyone, So prices almost seem too good to be true for SSDs right now. I've got a new GPU, and this year I'm looking to upgrade my MoBo, SSD, CPU and RAM. M.2 prices are insanely low right now, and I was wanting everyone's opinion of if I should just go ahead and get a new Gen 4 M.2 while the prices are so low, or wait for a Gen 5. There doesn't appear to be that much of a real world difference in the two, but I'm not overly technical about such things, so I wouldn't want to miss out on any huge gaming benefit when it comes to Gen 5 if it really is that much better. So do I spring for the Gen 4, or wait for more Gen 5s to come out this year? My main concern is gaming loading speeds and as much storage as possible.

Nice! Those fans come in black too. Thank you for the link to the software! -
