  1. Pretty sure that monitor is only 60hz, and if you are playing FPS games, then I would recommend getting 120 to 144hz...but maybe that's just me.
  2. Out of sheer curiosity, what does the 5820k CPU score in the Windows 10 System Assessment Tool?? This is what I got with my i7 6700k (running @ 4.6ghz):
  3. Already spoke to that ^^ You can't really go wrong with SeaSonic...they are widely considered to be the one of, if not THE, best PSU manufacturers. Just make sure it has enough wattage and PCIE cables for whatever MB and GPU you end up settling on.
  4. Should be fine. Most people like to give themselves a bit more headroom with regards to wattage, especially if planning to OC GPU and/or CPU...but it will work fine.
  5. It will work for what you are looking for, but you can always get "better" if you are willing to pay more money...so you would need to clarify a budget. I'm blind and just saw you included your budget... Also, the 980ti is a very good card, but is actually overkill for 1080p. Although I personally would keep it in the build just to future proof a bit, just letting you know...
  6. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096 worth the extra $10
  7. You can save $70 by getting an OEM Windows license on Kinguin...use that to put towards a better GPU and/or PSU.
  8. I would recommend you getting a bigger power supply if you are going SLI rout to make sure you have enough PCIE cables...

    550W PSU

newegg is currently having a 4 hour sale that includes a lot of good power supplies - i suggest you check it out
  10. The numbers are not exact, just a way to give a rough comparison. There are way too many variables involved to give an accurate specific average. Ultimately you will be fine either rout, and the differences don't really matter much given the short time frame before upgrading again. Also, if you are upgrading to pascal regardless, you also need to factor in what the best resell would be: 2 970s or 1 980ti. In regards to where to sell, just look and see what the prices and competition are on either site. It has a lot to do with what else is posted. Ebay gives you a wider audience, but also potentially more competition. You can also look at tech forums that have classified options. I prefer CL, but don't know that it is best per se...
  11. In the post above I specify what I primarily do and what I will be mostly doing in the future. But I feel like I would only be able to get like $250 if not less for the card since i've had it for over a year and it would cost me more to get the 980ti when in the tests I've seen the 970 SLI has done better than a single 980ti, so that's just what my thought process is. Tell me what you think, thanks! Cost to keep your current 970 and buy another = ~$330 = ~60 to 70 fps in 4k best case Cost to get a good 980ti = $680 - $250 = $430 = ~50 to 70 fps in 4k AND reliable, more usable RAM, less power, less glitches / better support, better upgrade potential Is the $100 worth it? Your call...
  12. Depends...what games, settings, target fps...
  13. To be honest, I think there are some opportunities to save some money on some parts and reinvest in others. For example, I am not familiar with AUS pricing, but that monitor looks pretty pricey relative to what you are getting. There are so many sales on monitors that you can probably save an additional $50+ by shopping around for a good deal. Also, I think you can get a slightly better case for the $ ... but there are sooo many options, and a lot of it is personal preferences, so I am not going to even go there... Also, I would probably also go for a little cheaper RAM, probably could save around $20. All together, you could probably shave $70 to $100 off some of the parts and apply towards a better CPU/GPU/MB/SDD?? Speak of, what are you doing for storage??
  14. are you maxing out your RAM on your GPU? could you find a cheap used 770 and sli?
  15. list it for sale on a site like craigslist, and if you can get a good price (while you still can before the market gets flooded after pascal launches), then sell and apply towards something better
  16. At minimum, in order to maintain 60 fps at max settings, you need AT LEAST a high end 980ti or two 970s in sli, which is still not going to give you a full 60fps in every game. Consequently, your entire budget would be eaten up by just the GPU(s), and therefore cannot be done. You would need to turn down the settings, but that pretty much defeats the purpose, and should instead go with a 1440p monitor. However, if you already own the monitor, and are trying to build a system to use with it, but not necessarily to its full capacity, it can be done.... For example, you could build a system with one 970 which will let you play some games in 1440p, and some in 1080p, and eventually add another 970 down the road (or comparable AMD card). But based on your initial statement of 'able to play at 4k with a 60hz monitor without problems,' it doesn't sound like that is what you are looking for....
  17. If you can stretch your budget a bit or wait for a sale... try this: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 ATX Cube Case
  18. Depends on specifically what cards you are comparing....some mid range sli settups can beat a single high end GPU (ex: 2x970s vs 980ti); however, sli can be buggy sometimes, and you only use the RAM from one card, and possibly more power draw....so...even in the cases you can beat a high end card, there are still pluses and minuses.
  19. No, just because you ran Norton doesn't mean your computer is cleared from viruses, there are lots that bypass AV programs. However, short of reinstalling windows, there is no real way to be 100% confident. You can try doubling up, like running Malware Bytes (free but good), as well as monitor your system's usage over the next couple days.
  20. If you are confident that you have everything hooked up properly, I would RMA. If you read tons of reviews on sites, you will see that unfortunately this happens sometimes. I personally wouldn't pay to have someone else hook it up. The fact that you are getting power but wont post means you likely have it hooked up right, but we tried to trouble shoot anyway just in case and try to avoid the RMA process if we could. I really appreciate the offer, but I am happy to help. Just try to help someone else out in the future and pay it forward
  21. sry, but sounds like you will need to rma...
