I am looking at upgrading from a 5800x to a 5950x, I know it's probably a stupid idea, but I can get the 5950x for £470. Has anybody gone this route? I have the Artic Liquid 2 280 with a 5800x and it controls the temps effortlessly 30-35 idling, 40-52 while gaming and max temp I have seen is 78 while stress testing with prime 95

I would recommend an artic liquid Freezer 2 280mm, I use one on my 5800x after my corsair(h115 xt) unit failed and I have got to say I am really impressed, not something I would have considered but Steve from GN recommends and who am I to argue with tech Jesus, highest I have seen with it is 76 with prime95 small fft max heat test,

I read it and thought WTF, but my pc wouldn't boot so I thought how bad can it get, all you need to do is to get it to boot once, then it will work on any monitor, I will see if I can find the jay vid for you but it seems only to be an issue with Asus motherboards

Have you got another display to plug it into, I had a similar issue, I read on a forum and I think Jay2cents did a video on it as well, I had an x570 Strix it would trigger the monitor initially then I would just get a black screen then no signal and the white VGA light on, I plugged into another cheap monitor and boom it works, plugged back into the original monitor it worked. the thread I read was here

what do you get in cinebench, i have an artic 280mm (recommended by steve GN) and im getting 77 in cinebench, i had an h115i pro xt and i really hated the mounting mechanism.

I have a 5800x so not quite the same but from what I have read if you can cool a 5800x you can cool a 5900x, I would look at PBO and curve optimizer (somebody better than me can advise I sent it to minus -13 and left it ), this should help cool the temps down slightly, I also use an artic 280mm which are quite reasonably priced and Steve from GN highly recommends them, I would swap the Fan at the top of your case around to exhaust, reason being is hot air rises. the cinebench temps(i get 78 at 4.55 all core on my 5800x) are not bad and I don't touch prime 95 in relation to gaming here is the biggest difference I get between 50-62, which makes me believe the extra heat from you GPU cant get out.

Due to a recent upgrade I need a higher capacity psu, currently have a evga 750w gq and was looking at the evga 850w gq, for my own sanity I just wanted to make sure that I can just swap the cables as the are both the same brand and model just a different wattage

I currently own a evga 750w GQ and looking at getting a 850w GQ, will the cables be compatible, I am being lazy and cant be arsed with the cable management.
