misfit's Achievements

  1. I'm using an NVIDIA GTX 680. So I'm pretty sure most current generation video cards like a Polaris will run games that I like to play better than what I have. Especially since my card's VRAM is only 2 GB. Thank you and AMD for the opportunity.
  2. I'd like to win the Excalibur v2 keyboard because I've always wanted to own an illuminated keyboard, but have just always wanted to buy something else more every month. So I end up not having enough money left over to get one. I'm still saving up for a new video card at the moment. So I can't really be buying anything else until after that. I'm trying for a GTX 980ti so it's going to take me a while!
  3. My favorite feature they highlighted was 4K video capture.
  4. This is a really late reply but rather than start a new thread about this topic I thought I should just keep the conversation on this thread. I just recently bought a BenQ XL2720Z gaming monitor which has a matte finish screen surface. I was doing a lot of Google searching for the best way to clean monitor screens and the 50/50 water and alcohol mix seems to be the most popular method recommended. However, even though I've been using nothing but rubbing alcohol to clean not only my glasses and monitors, I'm starting to think that maybe it's not the best idea if I'm concerned about preserving my monitor screens quality and life for as long as possible. I came across some articles on monitor screen cleaning mentioning using white vinegar instead of alcohol. I've read several different articles about cleaning mentioning white vinegar for a variety of cleaning uses so it seems like a reasonable idea to use it for cleaning monitor screens. The only thing that made me question it is the possible unpleasant smell of vinegar emanating from my monitor. After trying a 60% distilled water and 40% white distilled vinegar mix to clean a matte finish monitor screen and seeing the favorable results I think I might be using that instead of spending money on commercial products. It seems to get the job done without any streaking and without any noticeable vinegar smell (once the solution evaporates off the monitor). I use it sparingly though, only slightly dampening a microfiber cloth with the solution by spraying it on lightly. The cloth seems to retain a scent of vinegar so that is one of the downsides. I actually tried contacting BenQ through their twitter account to see if they would recommend any commercial monitor cleaner to me, but they simply referred me to the second page of my monitor's manual which instructs to use only a dry microfiber cloth to clean the monitor with and also to not use any cleaning liquid at all. Go figure. So I guess it seems all you should need to clean a monitor with is a good microfiber cloth. I'm not sure how well that would work for people who have children who might get dirty hand prints all over their monitors though. If anyone can come up with something better to use than white vinegar, alcohol, or commercial cleaners I'd be interested in knowing about it. Thanks.
  5. I would greatly appreciate a chance to win a copy of Batman: Arkham Knight. I won't be able to afford to buy the game for probably the next 3-4 months. Thanks for the chance. Good luck to everybody who enters. And you're very cool to do this for the Linustechtips community. Plenty of other places you could have given the games away. Have a good day everybody.
  6. If I had to choose between the two options I'd go for the Acer. 55 inches is too big for me since I live in a studio apartment. However, I'm not sure I would like a curved monitor. I don't like a monitor that I can't put flush against a wall or have to sit in a specific "sweet spot" to enjoy it.
  7. I would gladly import it if it was even available anywhere. Please let me know if you ever see it for sale anywhere in the world and I'll buy it. Thanks for your response.
  8. I personally will not settle for more than 19 ms of input lag on any display that I do heavy gaming on. I used to be more concerned about it because I played Call Of Duty games quite frequently. Even though I no longer play competitive first person shooters as often as I used to I still prefer to have the lowest input lag possible because I notice the difference between higher and lower input lag even in single player non-competitive games. That's probably because I'm so used to playing on my 17 ms input lag monitor that I'm just used to having great response time between pressing a button on a controller and seeing the corresponding action within the game I'm playing. It affects my enjoyment of the game negatively if there is a greater than 17 ms response time present. I think it is a subjective thing though since it seems that everyone has a different sensitivity to visual effects like input lag and 3D and frame rate differences. So I can only speak for myself when I say I cannot enjoy a game as much with a greater than 17 ms input lag. I don't believe there will ever be total agreement by all gamers on what an acceptable amount of input lag is. I can tell you that I used to play primarily on an LG HDTV with about 33 ms of input lag and comparing the delay of me pressing something on a controller and seeing the corresponding action in a game on that TV to the delay of my 17 ms input lag monitor, it was enough to make me never want to play any games on that TV again. In fact, I immediately sold that TV even though it was 32 inches and my low input lag monitor is only 24 inches. The gaming experience with 33 ms input lag was so bad in comparison to the 17 ms input lag that I would rather play on a much smaller display than accept the high input lag on a much larger display.
  9. I asked BenQ USA about a release date for the BenQ XL2720G back in November of 2014 and the response I got was "This unit will not be released in America.". https://twitter.com/BenQAmerica/status/531820657777336320 Can anyone come up with a good reason why they wouldn't release the XL2720G when they have already released the XL2420G in the United States? Is there any good reason or explanation for this at all? BenQ doesn't seem to want to respond to that question. I've waited patiently for 4 months for a response and still nothing. I've also asked the same question on their official Facebook page with no response. So I guess they just want me to buy some other brand's monitor. It looks like that's what I'm going to have to do if I want a 27 inch monitor with G-Sync.
  10. Hi! I would most likely use the processor in a new PC build that would be used for gaming and creating music! I would love to win this as I'm still using an Intel i7-3770K based system. Thanks for the awesome opportunity!
  11. I like the True Quiet Fans the most since I really need to reduce the noise my PC makes. It gets a bit annoying when I'm trying to enjoy a game or want to browse the Internet in peace and I have to try and ignore this constant noise in my left ear.
  12. I like the high capacity battery. Portables never last long enough on 1 charge for me so a longer lasting battery is most desirable for me.
  13. This is very cool. Thanks for the opportunity to win some great prizes and all the awesome videos! :-) Shared on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AaronWinnett/posts/10201312539315757 Twitter handle: @nvmisfit Shared on Twitter: https://twitter.com/nvmisfit/status/347896529958367232
