  1. Really? Must have changed it then, I used the stock cooler with my 4690k for a while, but if it's true then yeah get a cooler for it
  2. molex is 12volts with a max of 12amps, so a max wattage of 132 watts. According to the nvidia website a 950 will use 90 watts, though an aftermarket one will probably use more. I'd say check how much yours will use, and go from there
  3. That too, though you can run it on the stock cooler for a while and buy a better cooler later when you decide to overclock
  4. Seems good except for one thing: you have a z170 board with a non-k chip. Either get a k chip or get a b150 mobo
  5. Hey guys. As you can probably guess from the title, I'm looking for a new case. I'm on a budget of around 100 euros, though I could possibly go a bit higher. The list of things I would want the case to have: -support for an atx motherboard -dust filters (I know they're pretty much standard on everything, but my old force 500 doesnt have em :P) -room for a 240mm water cooler, and preferably a spot for another one (thinking of maybe water cooling the gpu with a g10) -at least 3 2.5 inch bay slots, 1 3.5 inch bay, and a 5.25 inch (for dvd reader) Aside from that I don't have anything specific, I'd like, I appreaciate your guys' help!
  6. Really? I played ona 4690k and a 770, and whilst my cpu was almost being maxed out I was playing on high/ultra settings
  7. Since you live in the netherlands you could have looked on tweakers, though I've found a 4670k here: https://tweakers.net/aanbod/1104171/intel-core-i5-4670k-boxed.html
  8. Depends, what are you running now? I'd say if it's an i5/i7 from the 3000 series and onwards you'll probably be fine unless you have a really low end one
  9. The rx 480 is the better 'bang for your buck' gpu, whilst the 1060 will give higher performance (though amd tends to optimize their gpus over a long time, so the 480 will probably improve over time). If we were to look at last-gen cards the 480 would pretty much be the 970 and the 1060 would be roughly equivalant to a 980
  10. due ti cpu's improving so little over time there's not much use upgrading yours yet, gpu and ram is also fine I'd say so just like everyone has said a ssd will be a good choice
  11. isn't that weird though, I have a 4690k at stock and a 770, and I reach about 250-300 frames. The only thing I can think of is I might be forcing the game to run on more cores, though that's a simple launch command.
  12. Honestly upgrading should mostly only be done if necessary, it's better to upgrade later and be amazed at the large framerate increase. I'm still running a 770, and on 1080p all those game would run fine so the 970 will easily handle it.
  13. Yeah i was planning that, if need be i could get a seperate gpu like a 480, though i was just thinking of what i could do with the hardware, since I just have it lying around.
  14. Hey guys, I'd like to ask for some advice. Lately I've gotten 2 second hand old pcs, both not very high-end though I'd like to use it as a htpc/server box (for example for minecraft) though I'm unsure if the hardware I have available will be strong enough. Here's the list: PC 1: ram: 2GB ddr2 gpu: geforce gt 310 cpu: still have to check, but i think it's a pentium PC 2: ram: 2GB ddr2 gpu: geforce 7900s cpu: core 2 duo e6400 ill probably use the core 2, though im not sure which gpu to use. Aside from these things I have everything else. Thanks in advance!
  15. i used to have the 760k, for most games it won't be a bottleneck at all (even in bf4, it only went up to about 80% with high/ultra settings and a 770). So unless you're planning on playing cpu intensive games like cities: skylines it should be fine.
  16. From the netherlands. I probably shouldn't seeing as the cheapest aftermarket cooled 480 with 8 GB costs 320 euros, which is about 40 more than 6GB 1060, and both of them are out of my price range
  17. So I currently have a 770 from msi, and after some overclocking I can run doom at around high settings with 60+ fps. However, I'm considering moving up to 1440p (my dad might upgrade to 4k, so I can ge his old screen) and since the 770 only has 2GB of vram I'm afraid it won't run most AAA games at that resolution. I'm currently thinking of getting a 4GB 480, but I'd like to hear someone else's opinion (btw I also don't have such a big budget, I'd say max 250 euros and in my country the cheapest 1060 is 290)
  18. Currently haven't bothered with a mousepad, since the table's good enough. For my mouse I'm using a razer naga molten special edition (the extra buttons are quite handy for switching gears in euro truck sim). For my keyboard I have a razer deathstalker that I was able to pick up cheap form one of my friends. For headphones I'm just using sennheiser simple and cheap hd 201. And even though its not really peripheral, my microphone is a blue snowball. Good luck everyone :).
