  1. Y'all know that 8.1 Embedded is available to students through Microsoft Imagine, right? For FREE so it isnt just for enterprises
  2. I didn't read KWelz's post until after posting but we have similar ideas and I hope that it is helpful
  3. For me, it was for the new features (apps that support and make actual use of the touch-bar make it less gimmicky and actually surprisingly useful. Better dedicated graphics support for light gaming, wicked fast SSD, better battery life (although not everyone is experiencing this) the nicer keyboard, Touch ID which is really useful. And an overall more badass Mac experience. I have friends that have last years model and thy are very envious of mine. Keep in mind that I know the new MacBook Pro is overpriced (I did not pay out of pocket for mine) and that it is only for someone who enjoys the Mac experience/needs it for app development (I am both of those things) That isn't to say that I don't use windows on here in parallels (as well as Ubuntu) but it is a solid computer for development. Maybe overkill but with the significant decrease in Xcode compile times, Im happy.
  4. From someone who owns the new 15", I don't see the practicality for anything less than the quad-core 15"
  5. With the new platform launching soon, it is a bad idea. You could end up with an AMD equivalent of the G4400 so I'd say just wait.
  6. To anyone that is having this problem with Windows 10, it is probably related to your anti virus. WhoCrashed is a great start, but it doesnt say who made it crash. For that, use Verifier from CMD Admin (Google it if you need to know how to use it) but contrary to the popular opinion, I select ALL drivers, not JUST 3rd Party. Seems to be working fairly well for me thus far
  7. On Fri 30-Sep-16 00:06:29 GMT your computer crashed crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\092916-35500-01.dmp This was probably caused by the following module: hal.dll (hal+0x2A85) Bugcheck code: 0x7F (0x8, 0xFFFF9900EB4649B0, 0xFFFF9900F0CD8EC0, 0xFFFFF802BAC09A85) Error: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP file path: C:\Windows\system32\hal.dll product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System company: Microsoft Corporation description: Hardware Abstraction Layer DLL Bug check description: This bug check indicates that the Intel CPU generated a trap and the kernel failed to catch this trap. The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time.
  8. Every time I try and launch Steam I get this BSOD. Any help would be great 092916-6109-01 - Copy.dmp 092916-12312-01 - Copy.dmp 092916-14640-01 - Copy.dmp
  9. I wish. It won't even post without the GPU
  10. Howdy y'all! I am a broke ass college student away from home and my computer has decided that today - the day with the most amount of work to be done - that it should commit suicide after an NVIDIA GPU update. My specs are as follows Gigabyte H110M-S2HP MB Intel G4400 with Hyper 212 Evo 8 GB Crucial DDR4 2133 MHz memory GTX 950 120GB SanDisk Boot SSD, 3TB WD Blue, 500GB WD Caviar Blue 500W EVGA PSU The speaker doesn't beep any post codes, the monitor gets no output and the computer basically just sits lifeless. I have taken it completely apart and reassembled it so there are no loose connections and the PSU is just fine. Can anyone give me any steps that might fix this? I am in the process of trying to get an RMA, but I cannot have this computer out of commission for that long (especially with the slow snail mail that we have here.) It ran TF2 and Diablo III just fine last night. This morning: nothing. Thanks for any help anyone can give me
  11. I'm running a Pentium dual core 3.2GHz with 8GB and a GTX 950 with faux mechanical keyboard and cheapo mouse. Would be AMAZING to have a great gaming rig like that!
  12. May sound dumb, but check the cooling (CPU, GPU, PSU, or Fans) because that can cause random shutdowns.
  13. It would be super awesome to have before I go off to college and then the military, as I could watch movies with my buddies literally anywhere we are.
