  1. Thank you for your response. As far as I'm aware, I did not do anything to lock any cpu cores. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "you might have to check what it uses to render". I currently have DirectX12 and in the COD settings it has my 2080 super selected for gpu in the settings.
  2. I am trying to play COD:MW (2019) at 4k 60fps with the settings maxed out however I seem to be getting 40-50fps on average. I don't mind lowering the settings but when I checked my computer resources (using task manager) my cpu and gpu were running below 25%. I was just curious as to why my system is not using more of the cpu and gpu to hit 60fps? build: ryzen 3950x rtx 2080 super 32 DDR4 RAM windows 10
  3. The computer overall is slow and laggy. My computer even lags when only using chrome with a couple tabs open. Computer Specs: Motherboard: ASRock H97M Pro4 CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K RAM: 32GB GPU: GTX 1080ti OS and drivers are installed on a 256GB SSD Everything else is installed (assuming installer allows me to change download location) on a separate drive Things I have done to check my computer (which also gave back a positive result): Full system anti-virus scan Full system anti-spyware scan CCleaner for registry clean up Defraggler on all my drives Updated all my drivers (including BIOS) Ran "chkdsk" on all my drives Ran "wmic diskdrive get status" SpeedFan "SMART" had either a green "OK" or empty icon beside all my hard drive attributes Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic WD Drive Utilities "Run Complete Drive Test" on all my WD drives Reset my computer I also downloaded SpeedFan to check my hardware temperatures and two things stood out to me. The CPU and AUX icon would switch between a green check mark and red up arrow, however, their temperatures would consistently stay at 43 and 46 degrees Celsius respectively (a couple days ago the AUX stayed at 41 C instead, I don't know if that's important though). Everything else has a blue down arrow. Also while my computer is idle (only task manager and SpeedFan running), SpeedFan's reading on my CPU usage would jump around between 2 - 30% while my task manager would indicate a more consistent cpu reading at around 1-5%. When opening up Google Chrome, SpeedFan's CPU reading would jump to 60-100% while task manager readings indicate a jump to 20-30% before going back down. Is it possible that my CPU is the reason for my computer Is it possible that my CPU is the reason why my computer slowing down or is this simply just my computer reaching the end of its life cycle? Also are there any other checks I can try running if my CPU is unlikely to be the reason? Thank you for reading.
  4. Does setting a 4k laptop display to 1080p help with battery life and when the 4k screen downscales to 1080p, how does the screen quality compare to a native 1080p screen? When I downscaled my 4k screen to 1080p it looked like things were slightly blurrier which seems to make sense considering that I went from 4k to 1080p but shouldn't 4k vs 1080p be indistinguishable to the human eye on laptop displays? Is this some placebo effect or perhaps a scaling issue?
  5. I installed all my programs in a folder titled "programs" but I am unable to find this folder anywhere else (other than the original D:/ drive). Also I just realized that my backup program (Aomei) was installed on my D:/ SSD which means all my programs must've been fine last night, and in the process of booting down or booting up this morning, the programs uninstalled.
  6. My OS and drivers are installed on another (C:/ drive) ssd, all my programs (premiere pro, ccleaner, aomei etc.) are on my D:/ ssd
  7. I was backing up the files on my E:/ HDD (onto my external H:/ HDD) last night and set my computer to shut down once completed, and this morning all of the programs oh my D:/ SSD have been uninstalled. The ssd that I install my programs on still have their folders but they all seem to be empty. I checked Disk Management and it shows that there are 409 MB of used space and 238 GB of free space so it does seem that all my programs have been uninstalled. I have also tried opening my programs but I just get a notification: "This item "program name" that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?" The only thing that I can think of that may have caused this was a couple days ago I was moving my ssd's around in my computer so I had to unplug them first (my computer/psu was off), could doing so have wiped my ssd?
  8. Sorry I meant the chipset (H97M Pro4) on my mobo, according to the spec sheet on Asrock's site it has "1 PCIe 3.0 x16, 1 PCIe 2.0 x16, 2 PCI" https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H97M Pro4/
  9. Is it possible to use a PCIe slot but still use the PCI lanes from my mobo instead of my cpu? I understand that the difference between PCIe 3.0 x8 and x16 for a gpu is essentially negligible but I figured that since my mobo has more lanes to spare might as well use them and relieve my set up from any potential bottlenecks no matter how small.
  10. yes that would be it, sorry I don't know what they're called lol
  11. I currently have an Intel Core i7-4790K which has PCIe 3.0 x16, which I assume will be used for my GTX 1080 ti. My mobo H97M Pro4 offers 1 PCIe 3.0 x16, 1 PCIe 2.0 x16, 2 PCI. I currently have 4 SSD's and would like to add 2 HDD's in raid 0 (with a raid controller card). I read an article that states hardware attached to the mobo via the weird pin thingies on the side and not the SATA III interface will use the PCIe lanes from the CPU and not the mobo, will my cpu be able to sustain both my 1080 ti and 2x2tb in raid 0? What if I wanted to upgrade to 4x2tb in raid 10 in the future?
  12. I don't seem to be able to find that many reviews of this software online but the very few that I did find seemed to share a positive experience. However, due to lack of reviews I'm hesitant on going forward with this product so I was wondering if anyone else had any experiences with Veeam Agent.
  13. I've been doing some research on good back-up programs, however all of these "top 10"/"best back-up programs" seem very sketchy to me, mainly because the comments would often disagree with their list. I also noticed that Acronis True Image was on every list which strikes me as odd since my experience with their paid version (and the WD edition) was nothing but horrendous. It's been over year and their support still hasn't gotten back to me and my multiple attempts to contact them. Judging by the comment section, I don't seem to be the only one. So my question is, do you have any recommendations for back-up programs that have a good rep in the online community? Is there a reliable source where I can look at other peoples' experiences with back-up software? Price isn't a problem for me. So far EaseUS and Comodo backup seems to have a good rep. I've already tried Aomei Backupper but still prefer EaseUS and Comodo.
  14. So my CPU (i7-4790k) gives 16 lanes and my mobo (ASRock H97M PRO4) offers 1 PCIe 3.0 x16, 1 PCIe 2.0 x16, 2 PCI. My 1080 ti takes up 16 lanes of the PCIe 3.0. Would adding a Thunderbolt 2 AIC which takes up PCIe 2.0 x4 effect the performance of my 1080 ti with its PCIe 3.0 x16? If so, how much of an impact would it have? What if it was Thunderbolt 3 AIC which uses PCIe 3.0 x4? I'm not sure which category this question belongs in, so apologies in advance if I placed it in the wrong one.
