  1. Fellow G15 Owner here, Here's the ram i've been eyeing to upgrade too, it's 1xr8 which was a bit of a bitch to find out (you'll need to check the manufacturers spec sheet for the specific module at least for Kingston DIMMs, Gskill is still a mystery too me. As for the screen i've not found any good options for a replacement, laptopscreen.com is seemingly out all the time, i have found screens for an old inspiron on amazon before so maybe they would have something. Otherwise you could call dell for the part alone if they sell it, just expect too be gouged a little if they do. (which screen do you have btw? is it the 165hz one or the 120hz?) For software while its a flaming pile download alienware command center if you haven't already, it will allow custom fan curves for cooling (fn+F9) and i just run them at 100% its like 53d but thermals idle between 25-35 for me on both CPU and GPU so i think the trade is worth extending the life of the unit. Hopefully this helps some! https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00116745
  2. So i'm debating building my brothers (2) used gaming pc, but i'm unsure which system to use as a base. The two contenders are... HP Elite Desk 8200 $99 I5 2400, 240w psu or... HP Elite Desk 800G1 $199 I5 4570, 320w psu They don't play anything too intense just minecraft and other "lite" games. I would upgrade the ram to 8 gb (16 if i can afford it) from the current 4GB and throw in a GTX 1650 as there plentiful in my area and affordable (250) plus i would like to just run the card off board power so 75w limited. i also have no budget for this currently just planning too do this in the future (3-5 months) so that is a consideration as well. Just curious if the move to haswell would be worth the $100 per or if the sandybridge would be enough for now.

  4. So I've had a problem since i purcheased my Z170-XP-SLI motherboard a few years ago, my USB3 transfer speeds seem locked to 10-12 MB/s with regular drops to 512 KB/s-1 MB/s it's never really bothered me before but I've been trying to fix it recently and I'm stumped. Fixes I've tried are reinstalling the driver (Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0) that didn't resolve it, I've tried having nothing else plugged in (remoted in for controls) no improvement, there's a driver on gigabytes site for USB3 that's for win8.1 from 2015 but it refuses to install for me even with comp mode. Anyhow if you guys have any suggestions let me know!
  5. i think something like this https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157730 would be more then sufficient for single access purposes. i'm going to be honest i know a little about NAS systems (planning to build one soon) so if my recommendation is wrong or theirs a better option definitely let me know, knowledge is power. Anywho Regards Skeeoubugs
