  1. Fully agree. If you gain other features/tracks from "higher quality" streaming services you may find it worth it to still shell out more money towards those services. (Such as Tidal allows you to stream music directly into DJ software for mixing) If I am purchasing music, I will obviously want the "higher quality" to own, but regarding streaming, I agree that for the average user (or even 99% of music stream listeners) that going with something like Spotify is much more cost effective.

    Status Update

I don't mind a NULL beverage every now and then
  3. to OP: @MR_Jones Ultimately the answer is, yes it will work. But you should verify 2 things at minimum: -Will you be using the included bracket? (Likely no) -Will you need to move the fans "up" to have RAM clearance (likely yes), and are you OK with this fact? (you may be able to find some super low clearance RAM, but most of them these days have larger heat sinks on or RGB)
  4. It's all good. I'm just curious where you got those specs from. The image I posted (edited in my last post) is directly from the Fractal Design website. @SpookyCitrus
  5. This is not true. Refer to my prior post. edit: photo
  6. If your RAM has clearance and you can keep both fans at the same height, you will have NO issues. My last work build, I had to move the fan up slightly to leave space for my RAM and there is literally 0mm of play between the glass panel and the fan. If you're into "aesthetics", you probably wont want to move the fan up anyways as it does look off, so this is likely a non-issue. I'd say first make sure you have RAM that can fit under the fan if possible.

Holy FUCK this card is huge Merry Christmas to…

Now to build a case around that sucker
  8. Windows Defender is excellent AV for all users, especially those who aren't in the "tech-savvy" category. Running your PC w/o any form of AV is "do this at your own risk, I understand the consequences of my actions". (And hopefully have segregated admin account from your daily local user account)
  9. Is this a HP computer by chance?
  10. Where did you buy them? From a third party? From a friend? From a website? From a brick and mortar store? Are you able to show us a link to the listing?
  11. What you are looking for is a VLAN indeed. Ensure you have a router that is capable of setting up separate VLANs.
  12. If you have no need for voicemeeter, go to your Programs and Features and uninstall. I'd break your setup down into the bare minimum and then build off of that. Step 1, unplug everything except the USB cable to the stream PC and you should for sure be able to get your microphone working there.
  13. Just throwing my 2 cents out there, that I've also enjoyed the DT770's. They are by no means my "primary" headphones but I love using them here and there while having listening sessions. I'll also add that the Schiit stack is a very cost effective solution for adding a DAC/AMP to your setup.
  14. When you speak into the microphone, do any of the audio inputs show activity on the stream PC? I see you also have voicemeeter installed. It's a wonderful program, but extremely easy to misconfigure. Would you be willing to save/export your voicemeeter config and disable it for further troubleshooting?
  15. Can you take a screenshot of what your audio inputs/outputs are in windows on the stream pc?
  16. So you have the USB cable from the mixer plugged into the stream PC and the mic still doesn't work? I feel like at a bare minimum, you should be able to only plug in the microphone to the mixer, power to the mixer (if needed), and the USB cable to the stream PC, and you should have your microphone audio on the Stream PC. (Taking everything else out of the equation)
  17. I would not recommend using a windows XP computer if it's connected to the internet. If it's not, enjoy! (Looking at the picture it does not appear to have a network connection, but the google page initially made me assume you did have it connected.)
  18. Fair enough. However I'd put that same amount of time into working a side job or something to get 50-100 bucks to get that HDD upgraded to SSD personally instead of optimizing windows processes. Just my 2 cents on the matter. You can find free disk imaging software to clone the contents of your drive onto a new SSD without having to redownload all your programs/software. (I do recommend a clean install 99% of the time if possible though) Don't worry, we're all weird!
  19. Love it. Great build log. I'm a sucker for Noctua fans
  20. If you're de-bloating windows for fun, I get it. If you're trying to do it to actually "optimize" system resources, it's not worth your time. Computer components are so fast these days you won't really end up with tangible gains by trying to work around the Windows Processes. If you do want to squeeze the most out of PC, I'd try something like Linux over Windows.
  21. I'll just add my 2 cents since this post was resurrected from the grave. I purchased a laptop from xotic pc back in ~2012 and never had any issues with it. It had a dedicated gpu as well as an i7-2700k processor. sadly I went with more storage instead of flash, (hdd vs ssd) and while the laptop still runs, I'd really need to swap the drive for a ssd to "bring it back to life". I will also add I ended up using it through college during those years. Remember now this is over 10 years ago. I understand companies change, and it's possible their quality control isn't up to par and I lucked out.
  22. I'm one of the few who could care less about the look of anything inside the PC. Give me performance over looks all day.
  23. @lididxAny update on this? I still haven't done a BIOS update on it, but I did just attempt to use the Overclock Feature of the Mobo and it was crashing upon startup. Reverted to safe mode and it's now booting fine. Going to try slowly upping some settings until I get everything working. I'm going to hold off on BIOS updates until Asus pushes a new one most likely.
  24. I'm not too sure, I'd maybe clear CMOS and try booting again. I have not updated the BIOS yet. I've barely had the time to do anything with it after building it. I'm just now installing some of the basic applications I need before I start transferring other data over to it.
