@firelighter487 @mrchow19910319 my 2008 macbook is always at 160p and even then,

100% cpu usage and a toasty 90* degrees celsius 100% of the time. Mix that with a fast

1mb up and down internet connection and you have something called hell.

that's odd... my hp laptop has a 3437U, which should be about the same speed (maybe a little faster)... and that has 30-40% usage on all core's while playing a 1080p youtube video.

    what browser are you using?

@mrchow19910319 I'm using the intel core 2 duo @2.3GHZ varient of the 2008 macbook lol

@InMiseryWeSeekPancakes still that should be able to play 720p youtube right? or has youtube become so heavy all of a sudden...

@firelighter487 Are you kidding? Lol I wish, it can barely play 480p, internet connection aside, I'll be at the library often getting schoolwork done, and I'll have around 15mbps internet up and down and despite that I can barely reach 480p video.

Gaming is suprisingly delightful on it though, seriously, if you install windows or if you use metal or the vulkan api I can actually run Skyrim on it @30fps low-medium 768p no aa.

@InMiseryWeSeekPancakes how lol, i have systems slower than that and i can play even 1080p video on those...

    i'm talking about a laptop from 2010 with a 2.1ghz dual-core pentium..

@InMiseryWeSeekPancakes nope, i'm not. what browser are you using on your macbook?

  14. InMiseryWeSeekPancakes

    InMiseryWeSeekPancakes

@firelighter487 I'm gonna blame it on macos.

That's why I dual booted windows, blackarch linux and mac os on it. I never tried watching videos on the windows side of things on that laptop or linux

@firelighter487I'm using opera because I can't, for some reason, do video playback on chrome.

And I wouldn't use safari if it was on my life.

  16. Ashleyyyy

    Ashleyyyy

@InMiseryWeSeekPancakes well yea opera is not that fast. can it play 720p on Linux or Windows though? like if you try that you'll know macOS is the problem..

  17. InMiseryWeSeekPancakes

    InMiseryWeSeekPancakes

@firelighter487 Well imma try it out now since I'm using my macbook.

@firelighter487 twitch stream stutters like shit.no idea why. youtube @ 1080 is kind of okay,. but still this machine starts to show its age.

I can use it for coding just fine. but that's it.. "just barely okay" for web development.

Are you kidding? @mrchow19910319 I can code on an IBM 5150 from the late 1980s!

programming works like a charm on my mac. I've never even seen a device that's bad for coding...
