  1. It seems to have done the job, thank you! Strangely it's also fixed the slow opening of other applications as well - not something I would have expected. Guessing the iGPU and the Radeon VII don't play nice together somehow.
  2. I changed from a 2700x to a 5600g CPU (idea being it lands up in the kids room as a simply games machine). It's running a Radeon VII card and since throwing in the 5600g, I have input lag using the mouse in Windows but more noticeably in games. In World of Tanks for example, game starts, I pan around using the mouse and I literally have to wait a second or more for it to do anything. It's not graphics as they work fine, with tanks moving around. Any ideas?
  3. Really disappointing show and for that reason I've unsubscribed. I would suggest LTT and others have become too close to such companies to be objective. To quote Steve from Hardware Unboxed, you and other large tech YouTubers have copped out over this saga. This was blatant from Intel which makes me question what else they're doing against AMD. It's even harder to swallow given how AMD conduct themselves - no PR smokescreen, just honest business and a solid road-map. Do you want such dirty tricks to be the downfall of AMD? Do you want to return to the days of an Intel monopoly? We'd still be playing on $1000 quad cores had it not been for Ryzen and other AMD products. I mean do you have a penchant for quad cores Linus? Linus you needed to step up on this one. Just like Intel, your ivory tower can also fall. This could have been your defining moment but you fucked it up. Where has the Linus of old gone, the guy who'd bring us pieces like this (below) - videos which help keep this industry in check and ensure companies serve their customers, not their shareholders. You know you can do better - my question is why you didn't?
  4. One word. WAN Show. Okay, it's two but please PLEASE discuss this Linus. Intel have gone way, WAY too far.
  5. This is an absolute travesty - if this isn't one of the main topics on the WAN show I'd be very surprised. It's akin to shooting your competition before a race IMHO. Running a 2700x as a quad-core in benchmarks...come on Intel FFS.
  6. Oh, they blow at the PCB? That makes more sense. How have I never noticed that. Feel dumb now.
  7. Just a thought, but every fan assisted graphics card I've had blows towards the bottom or side of the case (given the fans are almost always fitted on the left side of the GPU). As all of my PC cases don't have any space for fans to extract this air from the bottom rear of the case (as that's where the cards fit through) wouldn't the GPUs be better if they blew towards the top of the case (out of the right side of the GPU)? Perhaps this is something Linus can discuss?
  8. Thanks guys. Network is now part 1 and 10gbe. Any NAS (current ones are 1000 mpbs) would be connected to a 10gbe switch. Storage would be 24tb upwards - some photography/movies and the rest large data files which need crunching (these are usually MySQL databases which we prefer to handle in a Linux based OS).
  9. You know what it's like, you're looking for a new hard drive and then end up wanting a $2k+ QNAP NAS (TS-877-1700-16G). I've an ageing N40L running OpenMediaVault (I can no longer access the management system but just the files) and a Drobo (it looks great but it's a Drobo so it feels like a 100mbps connection rather than a 1000mbps one!). I've a growing business and a load of information to store/backup. I also need something to support IP cameras and virtualisation is something we would use. QNAP also seem to have completely nailed the NAS software front. I did consider building this kind of machine (I built my Ryzen rigs) but the lack of decent cases (hot swappable drives) and frustration with OMV and other solutions puts me off. Am I completely mad or is there some sanity in my decision making.
  10. OpenmediaVault - I'm considering other options though.
  11. Thanks all! Now to see what I can change to allow this!
  12. Hi guys, I have a 10gbps switch (Netgear GS110EMX) connected to a N40L running OpenMediaVault via three 1gbps ports (bonded setup in OMV 802.3ad with LACP running on the switch with LAG all setup correctly). I have a PC with an ASUS XG-C100C (10gbps) NIC connected into one of the 10G ports (on the switch) via a CAT7 cable. With this setup my transfer speed between the PC and the N40L is 1gbps. How is it not 3gbps and is it possible to get there?
  13. Got the same message - same board, 1700. The update went through fine - like you I've no idea what it is.
