  1. The form factor of this project is super cool, being able to throw up 200 inch projections with reasonable viewing is amazing.
  2. So I have a somewhat large project on my hands here. The main idea for the project is to complete rework my current media setup to utilize an HD Homerun prime to record shows to a nas for playback with plex. Currently the plan is to hook up all of the tvs to chromecasts for playback. Now where I am not very knowledgeable is in setting up recording. I would like to be able to just set shows to record and have the hdhomerun pass them to the nas but I do not think there is anything like that currently, so will I have to build another pc to do the recording running something similar to mythtv? Also I am considering rack mounting the nas along with my pfsense router so I would appreciate recommendations for a small rack or cabinet with anything around like 8 units of space, or is that just a bad idea? I have a budget of like $2500 and I already have a 2u router and the chromecasts.
  3. Alright so this is my build here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mTHN8d I overclocked the cpu to 4.2 ghz and then ran Intel Burn Test and Prime95 on it and all went well. I also ran AIDA64 for 2 hours which also was ok. Now my ram has been running at 2133 mhz since technically turning it up to 2400 mhz would require an overclock. So just today i turned the ram up to 2400 mhz and now Intel Burn Test fails within 3 attempts as well as Prime95. Both result in rounding errors while AIDA64 still runs ok. Should I dial back the ram or what? I am not really sure what to do here, I am super new. Thanks!
  4. Wait so I can install Plex on a zfs freenas setup?
  5. So I set up this build to be a FreeNas server: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9G6Jcf (any suggestion here would be welcome as well) and I want the server to service this htpc over ethernet: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rDvXD3 Is it possible to stream video from your FreeNas server to the htpc without any issues? I have 1000 mb ethernet network so i dont think speed should be an issue.
  6. So to start off I am very new to building pcs (I have been an xbox gamer for a while), this will be my first build so please correct me on anything I get wrong... So I am looking to build a pc for 1440p gaming at high settings. I think the most taxing thing I plan on doing with it is playing skyrim with some very nice texture and lighting mods. The build that I currently set up is this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/x3v3P6 but I have some worries. First off I went with the 980 ti since I want to max things out at 1440p and the benchmarks seemed to indicate that was the way to go. I realized for a similar price i could crossfire two 390s or two 290xs would either of these be better options especially considering the 390's 8gb of vram for the future (and yes I know crossfire wont increase my vram). I am also worried about my cpu bottlenecking my card, will the i5 4960k be enough? I would appreciate really any feedback on this. ps. This is an aside and note but should I be buying a mobo and cpu with an LGA1151 socket instead so that I can upgrade in the future? Thanks! Oh and my budget is around <$2000
