  1. what about swapping drives around (putting the one from mobo to the adapter)?
  2. have you tried it in different pci-e slots? I feel like there's something that goes wrong when data goes between the cpu pci-e lanes and chipset pci-e lanes but somehow only in one way. could be some bios setting that affects these things too but i can't think of anything on the top of my head.
  3. It's funny how Canon is only protecting the RF mount like this as it shows it clearly doesn't care about the EF-M mount and wants it to quietly and quickly go away.
  4. technically when reducing volume it's better to do it as close to the output as possible to have the strongest signal-to-noise possible so doing it at the amp would actually be preferrable. opposite is true when you're boosting the signal - better to do it as close as possible to the source. but when the setup is as simple as this it shouldn't make too much of a difference.
  5. just don't turn the volume up too much which you shouldn't do anyway to protect your hearing
  6. People who never had WP don't know how good WP actually was.
  7. 2. if that's how you want to spend your time go ahead i guess 3. funny because it's probably true 4. what are the odds the rpm speed signal wire is broken... probably close to none but considering the other fan works might be worth checking out. or just ignoring the error 5. just because it overclocked good doesn't mean it's actually a good cpu overall 6. yes. 7. literally can't see the cable but if you say you did then it must be true
  8. 1. That's an OEM HP board (MS-7778) that they've designed to take Intel coolers on AMD socket... love when companies engineer weird stuff like that 2. How did you get W11 to install on it? Did you seriously went through all the effort of editing registry just to get it to work. 3. I like the case... it's probably worth more than everything else in the pc 4. Please change that back case fan to something larger 5. That APU was considered to be pretty average if not slow even when it was new. That was 10 years ago. 6. Changing to those side SATA ports would probably make it look a bit tidier 7. I think you didn't plug in the 4 pin EPS power connector that's next to the cpu socket/where you plugged in the back fan (if i'm looking at the right mobo pic) Overall, I give this a solid 4/10 - you're focusing on the wrong things if at all
  9. what you described sounds normal to me tbh. noise levels really depends on the cooler itself and the fan curve profile but 70c sounds fine. now if the fan needs to run at 100% or some insane high speed to keep it like that then you probably need to replace the thermal paste on the gpu.
  10. even if it would somehow provide more cooling (let's entertain that idea) it definitely wouldn't be worth the added noise those tiny, whiny fans add
  11. double check with a few other programs to see if the temps match up... HWMONITOR would probably be a good start
  12. I'm not sure if 5000 series still does this but back in the og ryzen days the temps reported weren't actually accurate (source: https://www.eteknix.com/amd-ryzen-temperature-reporting-is-wrong/)
  13. Broadcom is in my experience always a pain to setup. Sometime you need a different driver (b43 or broadcom-wl - some more info here https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Broadcom_wireless) and sometimes it doesn't like having secure boot on. Usually you need to go wired to install driver.
  14. I'm going to suggest something different which is to get one of Canon's old full frame cameras (maybe 5D MkII or MkIII even) used and invest more in lenses than the camera body itself. The reason I say Canon is because they're usually the most plentiful on the used market and their old EF lenses adapt excellently on thec newer RF bodies once you upgade.
  15. I have a pc with 2 SSDs (1TB and 500GB) and a 4TB HDD - currently dual booting Windows and Manjaro from said SSDs. I plan on moving Linux only (maybe have a cheeky Windows VM if i really bother) in the future but have /home on a separate drive. Anyone has suggestions if I should put the home directory on the 500 or 1tb ssd or just any tips on how to better parition 2 drives for linux.
  16. I haven't seen any info on this but were the keyboards you tried USB or PS/2? Because it might be that USB support for keyboards is iffy or your particular keyboards don't really play well with DOS under USB. PS/2 is almost always a safer bet for this kinda stuff. Or maybe it's because it's USB3. If you have any USB2 ports on your pc try that (or one of those usb2 pci-e cards on hand).
  17. honestly with current pricing i'd say just wait out with your 1080. The performance improvement you get from upgrading to a 6600XT isn't worth it imo and you'd lose cool nvidia only features like CUDA and NVENC
  18. having it show as speakers is normal they all do that. other than that idk what more you could do. the only other option is that they're broken or that you've been listening to "bad" audio for so long it's become the norm for you idk.
  19. You could check the EQ in your drivers to see if maybe that's not messed up for one. Just have it set to flat or neutral or whatever the most basic preset is (or you can turn it off if there's an option for that). Or in similar fashion maybe you have that spatial sound option on which could also be messing with audio. Other than that you could try them on your phone to see if they sound the same. Did you plug in the cable(s) all the way? You'd be surprised how often that's the issue.
  20. btw you misread... they're not 650s but 560S which are much easier to drive. Yes dedicated amp would be recommended but I don't think he'll see much as much of a difference than he would with 650s.
  21. All my phones from the very early 2000s turned themself on when you set an alarm... it was kinda expected for them to. Especially since the conventional wisdom of the time was to turn them off when you don't need them (aka during night) so... yes.
  22. if this was 2017 I'd totally agree with that but if you can find a used gpu that performs better than the iGPU of the 5700G for less than 100$ good luck.
  23. Why not get the best thing you can get in budget?
  24. 1. Put in a SSD 2. Just get a 5700G and worry about the gpu later when they get cheaper 3. You don't need thermal paste since stock cooler comes with one and even most aftermarket coolers do too That's the 3 things I can immediately comment about but there's other small ones that might be my preference like going with an IPS monitor and getting a cheap mechanical kb rather than that. Also could go with a smaller psu but depending on what gpu you want to get later it doesn't hurt to have some extra headroom there.
  25. It depends on other specs not just the refresh rate... but in the instance everything is the same I'd say go with 144Hz. It will make the entire experience with your pc smoother even if you won't hit those frame rates in games.
