  1. keeping it as is for now, using the isp wireless equipment ad I do have a unifi ap I can borrow and see the stats. hopefully my area gets fiber soon, one of the harder ones to do. going from 25 to 80 for $5 more
  2. i'm trying to see if I can drop it to 10mbps and still have the tenants be ok with it. everyone uses there laptop and phone for netflix
  3. I have two places, 1 I own but rent out that has wifi included I rent another in another city, had to move due to the job Now at my rental I am curious if they actually need the 25mbps I signed up for. Is there a device I can put in line and see in the month how much bandwidth is being used? I have a AP that everything connects 2
  4. threadripper is also included in new cpu? same time frame?
  5. I was just going to suggest pulling 2. You going to pull coax as well for cable tv and satellite services?
  6. For things like folding@home, crypto mining even password hacking via oclhashcat and many other how much bandwidth via the pcie bus is actually needed?
  7. is every pc, laptop phone ect off the isp supplied modem? I assume you are able to select the right bridged port from your isp modem? I know mine had port 1-4 I can select
  8. how about a link to your isp and your plan?
  9. Hdbaset has options if you are gaming this is a No no as the lag will be an issue. Watching tv/movies will be ok. 1 issue is sometime due to the lag the audio is off.
  10. Sasktel my isp has 2 interNET classic DSL infiNET pure fiber to the home
  11. I take it this is fiber to the cabinet and not fiber to the home
  12. do you have the model # of the modem?
  13. ISP equiment is garbage most of the time. Casual surfing the net and some netflix it should have no problem. if you must use wifi consider trying better wifi equipment.
  14. as a business you should not be using wifi. I do suspect it is a wifi issue, you using the provided isp hardware for your wifi?
  15. giber gpon is simmar but I just read that there is a 100gbps card available. isp upgrading would be a breeze
  16. Wifi is a luxury and good at best. We are getting back to the days of hardwired anything now that gig speed is getting to be the norm
  17. in theory depending on network configuration, hardware speed yes you should.
  18. also depends on what technology they are using adsl is slower but can travel farther vdsl is faster but shorter distance g.fast is even faster but even shorter, though at this point might want to consider fiber
  19. of time to contact your isp. They should be able to see the modem stats and see if there is an issue. I know vdsl will work on 1 of the 2 conductors of the phone line.
  20. I got a call about slow to no wifi speed. Showed up to site and ran some tests. Wifi signal was great, installed an extender in one area of the house and got great speed(extender does connect via cat5) found a good place to install the extender in the center of the house. Once that booted up I did a speed test got 0-1mbps, tried changing channels to a not used so much and still got the issue. tried hard wired got 25.12, advertise up to 25 spent a few hours trying to figure this out I finally had a thought and tried this out noticed and old android box started a speed test on my phone, typical 0-1mbps then unplugged this android box. speed test then shot up to 25mbps and held there.
  21. are you testing this doing the following 1 wifi or ethernet 2. when speed testing only 1 device connected to the modem over Ethernet only. Must disable/disconnect everything
  22. still get a tester. even though it looks right doesn't mean it is fully connected to the jack.
