There is a myth about dead motherboards going round here. Motherboards aren't alive, they don't die. Except maybe if you step on it.
You've done something else wrong.
Is your monitor/cable working at all ?
Unplug everything unnecessary (360 controller, one stick Ram, RGB, a pity you don't have igpu...)
My monitor and cable are working as it did just post this morning, then as I've gone through troubleshooting everything's just gotten worse.
Just tried powering on with the complete basics, still no post.
OK WTF?!? It posted.
My RAM wasn't seated properly but why has this happened in the first place?

Turned on my computer a couple weeks ago, it posted to a plain black screen. No mobo logo or BIOS screen, just plain black. Sat on it for 15 minutes which is when I got worried. Tried resetting, didn't fix it. Was about to melt down as I had all my uni assignments due on Monday. Took off the side panel and unplugged my 360 controller, booted up just fine. Thought nothing of it until it happened again today, where unplugging a bunch of stuff didn't fix it. Here's what I have done:
Checked all connections and miscellaneous things according to sticky post - No change
Reset the CMOS - This caused it not to post at all.
Reseat RAM - No change
Reseat GPU - Now my keyboard and mouse dont light up.
Replace GPU - No change
Having a quick read around forums it seems that a lot of people have this plain black screen post issue with ASUS boards. I'd like to try update the BIOS but I don't have a way of doing that. Considering that now the peripheral lights dont even turn on, Can I confidently assume that my mobo is dead here?

probably the controller threw out some kind of gremlin so if it is running do not tinker and just get you uni work sorted would be my advice.
if needed leave that side pannel off for the moment.
fixing a PC is something you can devote time to later.
Been fine for the last couple weeks, happening again right now though and unplugging the controller ain't fixing it

I know this thread is dead but i might aswell try. Did you pirate games when you were using your 980ti?
Lmao, yeah, but I've done that my whole life on like 6 different GPUs. Btw I have a 3060 now and all is well. 980ti was faulty.

To be honest if you are willing to spend a bit more 570s can be had for around £90 used in my area, it may be worth trying to find one and pick it up as a short-term replacement.
Not a bad idea, i'll think about it. They go for 100 ish on ebay.

That is annoying. My RX570 is still doing everything I need it too so cant complain about needing a new GPU.
My brothers using an RX 470 and he's all good. Jealous.

It's a combination of supply limitations due to the pandemic, scalpers and people skipping the 20 series and are itching for an upgrade. Also demand for anything gaming is insane not just for graphics cards, monitors and top gaming mice are pretty difficult to find too
Yeah, i've tried to buy a new keyboard too. It's really frustrating.

I'm not actually set on buying a new GPU right now but I do like to know about the stock just in case a 3070 pops up. Hopefully stuff will start coming back soon.
Yeah, im in quite the opposite situation, my GTX 980 Ti died and im stuck with an R7 250x 1GB while all my friends are playing warzone.

I already have the cpu, our family has a sort-of hand-me-down system, My brother had the ryzen 3 1200 before he upgraded to a ryzen 5 3600x, in the summer I will buy a mobo, ram, case, chair, maybe a table and monitors, also if I will have enough money, I will buy a better cpu
Cool, nice going.

I'm in the UK and I've got stock notifications turned on for all the major retailers. Only stock that there has been is 3090 but I assume your not looking for that. I would use stock informer as they send you a quick alert if the product you selected is in stock on any trusted website.
How long have you been signed up for?

Ok, thanks, I'll make an account now. I'm looking for a 3060Ti, but might try snag a 3060 when it comes out.

Nice, I will upgrade to a Ryzen 3 1200 in the summer, as rn I have no money, and I plan to work in the summer
Go for a Ryzen 5! I guarantee it will suffice better long term. I got mine for £90 with a cooler.

Supply is super low right now. I checked all the big ones: Scan, Overclockers, ebuyer, Novatech, Aria, Box, Amazon all out of stock. Your best bet it waiting for supply get better or spamming F5 on all of them unfortunately
Damn, really? There's absolutely nothing like EVGA's site?

I've never really used a "new machine". From about 2010 to 2016 I used a Phenom CPU from 2005? (not too sure on the model or date) Im pretty sure it was quad core and black edition tho. I then upgraded to an FX-8350 (I know, kill me) which is a 2011 CPU. And lastly in 2020 I bought a ryzen 5 1600 (2017 chip).

I'm trying to buy a brand new card for MSRP (ish) , from a UK retailer. The only site I know of with a "queue" system is EVGA's, but aren't they US? Where can I buy from?

if its $329 dollars then it will be around £300 its not a straight conversion
Yeah, my bad.
-
I think the MSRP was 329 dollars. Here in the UK thats about £230, decent for a lower end card.
-
I find it so cool - even though I am not into mining or can even afford any new parts - that this kind of stuff is doable at home. I didn't even know you could connect 4 different GPU's to a system. Nice.

Yes i have enabled the Ultra High Performance mode..Do you think i should repaste the thermal paste because i haven't done that ever.
You'd need to look at your thermals before doing that, if anything reaches high 80s/90s then you might wanna try that.

Agree with post above, for most circumstances i've found its cheaper to just run an ethernet cable rather than buy an expensive router.

If it turns out to be fine is it possible that my Mother board is dead or?
99% confident that it isn't.

Wont be able to test until gpu comes in like next week
As long as the pins all make contact theres no reason it shouldn't work, it's probably fine.
OS cloned from SSD to new NVME SSD not booting - confusion
in Troubleshooting
Posted
Hi all,
I've purchased a new 1TB nvme drive and I've cloned my OS from my 250gb SSD to the 1tb nvme one using Macrium reflect. However, I cannot seem to boot from it and I cant understand why. I've had a browse around and saw things suggesting disabling CSM and the like nothing has worked, something to do with boot keys and windows secure boot? It's a bit confusing and I don't really understand why it's different and what I need to do, can someone clear the water for me here? Am I better off just installing windows fresh on my new drive?
