  1. Hey everyone, I'm a college student and with lock downs in Europe I need to do lots of my classes and project defenses online. When in online calls using discord, blackboard, teams, etc. I have a real bad time staying connected properly. I often drop out only being able to hear but not speak in the call, and in blackboard I go out all together. This has been a real nuisance. My setup is a xps 15 9570 connected to wired ethernet using a usb dongle. The dongle I use is this one https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-1000Mbps-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00LLUEJFU The dongle uses the network chip that is recommended to use with the nintendo switch. Networking in het home is cat5E rated cables, with gigabit switches, although it is cat5e, download speed is between 200-300mbps (cat5e is unofficially often capable of this). Modem and router in one device is of the brand Telenet (Belgian ISP property of liberty media) from this modem 1 accespoint/switch and 1 other switch are between the laptop and the modem. Download speed is as mentioned on my device often between 200Mbps and 300Mbps. upload speed is 16Mbps (yes that is common for private internet subscriptions in Belgium). Some digital tv channels experience problems as well from time to time. We hence think that the coax cable from the street to our home is bad, but in order to get this fixed, our drive way would be destroyed... For ISP people to come by to test the coax cable, it would cost us a fair amount of money as well. They claim to not see any problem when they do a distanced network test through the modem. I suspect the network generates a lot of errors and that is what causing me problems, especially because online calls are lag sensitive and such. My question is thus, any recommendations how to do network diagnoses, LAN, between devices on the same network and maybe a device that can test coax cable quality? Things I would be able to do myself and making sure no other hardware is causing the problems of our network before calling the ISP and paying the bill (of cable testing and or breaking up our driveway). Any other advice is welcome as well.
  2. I've already deleted and reinstalled my audio driver manually. I think it has to be something with that DPC latency
  3. Hey Guys So I've got my xps 15 since past summer. In octobre it started up once with a corrupts windows and had to reinstall windows from an image it carries internally I suppose. I think it was the october update that bricked it. Since that reinstall my computer's sound pops and crackles often through it's own speakers, headphones, hdmi screens. there doesn't seem to be a clear cause to it. It doesn't depend on how hot my laptop is running, nor weither it's in the plug or not. So I did some research, and downloaded a program that can monitor dpc latencys and isr's. I'm still not sure what those are. But it seems that a windows driver is lagging. see attachment for screenshot. The question now is, how do I fix this? I don't want a half ass solution, this is a brand new laptop, I want it working A oke. I write this because people say to disable the ACPI driver. But if it's there, it surely has a function. And I don't think I want to lose that function. Last resort, will it be fixed If i do another factory install? Would that be the most complete solution? Thanks in advance Sorry for any spelling or other mistakes, English is my second language.
  4. Hey guys, In a city with a lot of wifi networks setup, I've got a sitecom WLR5000 router set as an accespoint. On this same network I've got an old accespoint running DD WRT and an old cisco accespoint. Whenever the WLR500 boots up, it works for a few days, until it just doesn't anymore. What do I mean with that? It's wired accespoint acts normal, but the 2 wifi signals it transmits, devices can't connect to them for more than 10 seconds or so. You just can't get any data through those wifi channels anymore. In the meantime both of the other accespoints work perfectly. And every time you reboot the wlr 5000 it works again for a few days untill it doesn't. Have any of you people have an explenation for this behaviour? Or even a solution. Sorry for any spelling errors, English is not my native language. Thanks for reading my problem. I hope to hear from you.
  5. This is what I found so far https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-90w-usb-c-power-adapter https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-usb-c-travel-power-adapter-65w https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MNF82LL/A/87w-usb-c-power-adapter?fnode=b4e92cf0adcefd191b3810b232874e8559176da583bab4f695c6753e97564ccb7433ca0805e56da156c35758f3fd033d4147638e56740401dda3ac66641f8f65b318d0ca6c22d70379e9bae9c4df9db9b39496b3c080968beb8c6e1a117f15bd https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Adapter-Matebook-Thinkpad-Nintendo/dp/B0745V5YSP?th=1 If anybody finds a store where they sell the huawei matebook x pro charger, I would be gratefull.
  6. hmm i hope there is an easier way of getting a 100W USB C charger in europe. But thanks for the link now I at least know they excist. Not much information on that site though. It's never even stated that it is USB C
  7. Hey guys I've ordered a xps 15 9570 and i'm looking for a compact/ back up charger (preferably type C). something like this one https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MNF82LL/A/87w-usb-c-power-adapter?fnode=85&fs=f%3Dadapter-charger%26fh%3D459d%2B45b0%2B45d4 preferably something cheaper if possible, but more importantly something more powerfull. USB type c charging has a limit of 100W so I would like one that can charge at 100W. Can anyone help me? share your ideas below! Sorry for my English, Dutch is my native language.
  8. So I did what you told me to do. I found a rogue router. So I searched for a device with this mac adress. Turns out our wireless router who gives us wifi is the rogue router. What to do now? Attach it to my computer and turn of DHCP?
  9. Hey guys, The internet in my studenthome acts up. My landlord is willing to give me the password to the network, if I found the solution. That's why I'm here. The default gateway is 192.168.1.1 but at random moments the router will assign 192.168.2.1 to your device. Can I stop the router from doing this, and how? When given the second default gateway, you lose internet connection , but keep a connection to the network. BTW I'm not talking about a big student home here, I'm not going to bother anyone to much here with my internet fixing.
  10. Hey, I just secondhand bought a Samsung series 9 notebook. I performed an F4 recovery, installed windows 10. After all of this, all my USB ports still worked. Then I installed the Samsung software that adds some extra gismo's. My USB 3.0 ports stopped working. My note book has 3 USB ports, 1 USB 2.0 on the left side of the notebook and 2 USB 3.0. ports on the rigtht side of te notebook. The 2 3.0 USB ports stopped working after the Samsung software was installed. A bit more specific: the two ports emit power, if you plug in a cellphone, it is being charged. But nothing shows up in "the computer" menu I've already had a chat with support, but they don't know what to do and request me to send it to them for hardware repear that is going to cost me money. The thing is, I'm 90 percent certain it's software related, as detuctable from the story above. So last resort I delete the samsung software, but I actually think it is also usefull. So if anyone knows an alternative solution that would be welcome Sory for my bad english :-)
  11. Hey guys, I've got an old popcorn hour A-110 media tank. And i would like to use it again. But the software on it is outdated and it doesn't support netflix and stuff. So I'm looking to find, maybe a new OS to install on it... Got any ideas. I don't think is has a lot of processing power so keep that in mind.
  12. As keyboard, i have a logitech G105 gaming keyboard. As mouse, a Logitech Daedalus Prime G302, gaming mouse. My mousepad is a trust GXT gaming mouse pad And as headset, I use an audio technica ath-msr7 combined with a mic from trust
  13. Hey guys, So my three year old samsung galaxy s3 is behond repair, nothing about that though. The replacement is a oppo find 5, and I have a problem with it. It is the 32 GB version, but it is divided in two. in 2Gb as internal storage en 30Gb as virtual SD-card. I installed cm-12 on it hoping the two storages combined but that didn't happen. Now my question is: Do any of you guys know a step by step easy to use guide, to combine the two virtual storages into one 32 Gb internal storage? BTW: I know of the xda page but I couldn't understand any of it.
  14. I'm out of storage on my SSD so a second one could come in handy.
