I'm looking to build a PC for simply home theater and maybe some school work. No gaming, 3d animating/rendering will be done on the PC. Budget is $500-600 USD. What would you guys recommend?

Well you did say that you own it, so hold it and see how it feels to use. As for intensive gaming it's perfectly fine (usually depends on what games you intensively play). I don't think you'll have an issue using this device if you've ever used an iPad before.
