Biography
I would describe myself as an American Christian who holds Libertarian views. I love to have fun and play games with people even if I do have a bit of an aggressive streak but then again, what gamer isn't at least a little aggressive? :P

I'd suggest a 750w or greater, I might even say go up to an 800 Watt Power Supply... I'd suggest one from Corsair but make sure that it's rated at least 80+ Bronze rating or higher if you can afford it. Just get the highers Watt Power Supply Unit that has the highest rating that you can afford from your budget and you'll be fine.

That's a good question... With how technology evolves these days, it's probably yesterday's news. I think I just need a set with a real subwoofer included like either of these sets: 5.1: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0S6-000Y-00006 2.0/21: http://www.amazon.com/Genius-SW-G2-1-1250-Speaker-System/dp/B0056BPUQC/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1444343279&sr=1-1&keywords=genius+gx+gaming+sw-g2.1+1250+38+watts+rms+2.1+speaker+system For 2.1 I thought this one was cool even tho it's black/blue and not black/red: http://www.amazon.com/Genius-SW-G2-1-2000-Subwoofer-Sattelite/dp/B00K5NYNWS/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1444343279&sr=1-2&keywords=genius+gx+gaming+sw-g2.1+1250+38+watts+rms+2.1+speaker+system What I thought was cool is the scorpion lights up with the bass so it stays lit in tune with however long the bass note is.

Yea, headphones can only do so much but I wonder how well a helmet-like set of headphones would work with speakers set inside from one side to the other... I say helmet-like to wrap around a person's head... Hmm...

Cool. Thanks for the advice on the 4k too, I've been thinking of getting a 4k TV pretty much ever since I saw one in the store with a still image of a space shuttle taking off. The colors were so vibrant and bright. I think that's the way to go with waiting for them to get cheaper.

I see, so it would seem that 7.1 was either misleading or a misprint? Doesn't mean the Logitech ones are bad tho, I really like the sound of mine... Just wish they would make big promises like that tho.

At the moment this is little more than a curiosity and I actually have 2 questions: The first is, what's a good 20 to 24" monitor for gaming at 1080p? Secondly, which is better on a single Sapphire R9 280 3G edition Graphics card: 1080p or 1440p For budgets: I'd like to stay around or below $200 USD if possible. One more thing, does anyone on this monitor: Samsung S22B300H 21.5 LED Monitor? If so, how good is it? Ignore this post, my internet messed up about the time I started this thread which created duplicate threads.

lol meant Stereo sound in the one I have and tho it said 7.1 I doubt it's true 7.1 as I read somewhere that PC sound only goes up to 5.1... I could be wrong tho.

Yea, and it's an opinion that I can respect just as I respect everyone else's opinions and advice. To be honest, I'm not that familiar with speaker setups either and like Sobe, I also use my headset but I only do so at night so I don't disturb my parents in the living room when they're trying to watch TV or sleep. So really not sure what price-point good speakers would start at or really what constitutes "good" speakers.

That's understandable.... Here's a wireless version of pretty much the same type headset currently on sale for $82: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Gaming-Headset-Surround/dp/B003VANOFY/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1444180276&sr=1-1&keywords=wireless+headset it has an overview video there as well. It has 7.1 Surround Sound while the G230 only has Stereo Sound... Still, it's very good Stereo Sound... That said, I think wireless would be right up your alley since you said you break your cables or you have had cables break on you. Plus you'll have more freedom of motion without the wires tangling you up.

Under $100 bucks? Done! It's a headset but the headphone part is very good: crisp sound and pretty good bass too.
-
True, how you set it up can affect the end results.. All one need do is visit a Cinema to hear the differences in having speakers surround you versus speakers set up only in front of or tor the sides of a person.
-
I think my headset has that as it does put out some good sound... Good quality that is, I haven't really noticed the sound being lower than the speakers so the headset is at least on par with what's coming from the speakers which probably doesn't say much.
-
Yea, I built this one earlier this year so theoretically, I should just have to plop down a dramatically reduced amount of money for extra parts like sound card or newer GPU/CPU or even a memory upgrade. Yea... especially when a dying power supply can potentially take your whole system with it.
-
Yea, it's a lot of fun building your own machine and yes it is cheaper over time as you don't have to plop down so much money every 2 to 3 years for a new pre-built machine... I think 2 to 4 years is about how long a mass produced model will last you. I agree with you 100%, they don't last half as long as you think they would... With a custom built one, you can choose your own parts and often can get good deals on parts.
