  1. I'm thinking about doing some game streaming and/or recording so I'm looking into getting a capture card. I want to do 1080p 60fps if at all possible but after some testing, my 3570k isn't quite up to snuff. My question is if I get a capture card, will it take some of the load off my CPU? The card I'm looking at is the Elgato HD 60 pro and it says in the description it encodes the video into H.264, which if true, and if it does it on its own, would free up a lot of CPU resources and save me from having to get a 4790k or a whole new streaming system. Help is appreciated, thanks LTT forum!

  3. The CPU is underpowered for any kind of computing or multi tasking, you don't need a Z170 chips board with a non-overclockable CPU and the on board graphics are terrible.
  4. About the only thing that causes that is a bricked GPU. The only way to know for sure is to put it in a different computer and see if you get anything. If not, you'll need to RMA it if it's still within warranty.
  5. Did you try installing the drivers for the GPU before hooking it up?
  6. Kind of depends on what you need it for. If you really don't need much computing power (and just about anything you get will be worlds better than what you've got) you don't need Skylake. The 4th Gen CPUs have a lot more selection at pretty much all price points so you can get what you need. Skylake only has 2 or 3 choices plus their overclocking versions. Definitely go with a quad core though, whatever 4th gen chip you go with. I'd say an i5 would do wonders for you. If you don't plan on overclocking, get an H97 board and a "non K SKU" processor to save more money.
  7. I plan on moving to a 4790k or 6700k some time in the next year or so (depending on what comes out in that time), was just looking for kind of a quick fix and wasn't sure if a better CPU would even make a difference but it sounds like it definitely would. I'm also building a PC for my wife soon using my old GTX 760 so I might beef up her CPU so I can use it to stream from mine, problem is getting a capture card to work between rooms. I know almost nothing about how to do that.
  8. The only thing I have is an old HP Pavilion with an i3 in it. I doubt that would be any better, but do you think it would?
  9. OCZ is about all I know about it. Got it 8 years ago in a build my brother in law made for me. Getting an EVGA G2 650W.
  10. So I've decided to start streaming gameplay of various games to Twitch and I need a little advice. Before I go any further, my build: i5 3570k @4.2GHz Corsair H100i GTX Asus P8Z77-V PRO OCZ 650W PSU Nvidia GTX 760 SSC 2GB Corsair Carbide 500R SanDisk PLUS 120GB SSD Seagate Barracuda 500 GB HDD A few of these components will be changing in the next month, such as PSU and GPU (Sapphire R9 390x Nitro) and I'm wondering if upgrading my CPU will improve my max resolution and framerates for streaming. I know this depends heavily on data upload speeds of my ISP, but because Twitch recommends OBS users encode their video into x264 format a faster processor or one with hyperthreading might improve framerates. So far I've only streamed at 720p 30 fps just to make sure it worked, but would like to at least bump the resolution up to 1080p. I also noticed framerates dips in-game on Elder Scrolls Online from 55-60 to 35-45 while straming without changing the video quality. Let me know if upgrading the CPU will help. Thanks in advance!
  11. The 380 will give more performance, but uses more power. Up to you.
  12. Yeah chances are it would only do that in things like game menus because it's trying to crank out something like 200 fps. Reinstall drivers, turn v sync on, and if those don't work you should be able to set a frame rate limiter in software to cap it out depending on your monitor's refresh rate.
  13. Definitely some BF4 needs to be played with that thing. You'll be pushing 60fps on ultra pretty easily I should think. And congrats on the new card! Excellent choice :-)
  14. I want this. I can't seem to find any new ones though. :-(
