  1. Try configuring a system here: http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/systems/systemdetail.asp?systypeid=4 It seems that you might end up with a favorable deal. They let you change basically everything. You lose the build it yourself part of it but it may be cheaper.
  2. I just realized that you're in NZ and those prices are pricey... I'll let you know if I find anything. But the i5-6500 upgrade cost from i5-6400 is not that much more different than in the US. What I would add is that if you are making this for gaming only, you might want to consider an older platform that doesn't have as expensive a motherboard and ram.
  3. yeah but 970 OCs better and uses less power than 390. 390 will only be better for QHD and 4k
  4. You could also do an AGP graphics showdown! I think a lot of those would be fun to do- however, looking at the 3 SYW series- the focus has been to do something relevant. By relevant- what I mean is do something that we the viewers can learn from and use to our advantage. I'm going to double down on the passive cooling- but not in as extreme a way as yours. I think there is something to be gained from building a computer under $300-$500 dollars that has absolutely no fans and no pumps. The point would be to build a computer that can play moba style games and function as an office computer and generates no noise at all! Then again- it would be almost impossible to contend with the passively cooled Apple Macbook 2015
  5. heres a newegg build with everything you asked for- total is $544 usd: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2465543 fx-8350 on sale for $149: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284
  6. Don't forget that the 390 and 390X produce way more heat and consume more power too. If you are 1080p gaming, then go with 970. If you plan on gaming on anything bigger than that- 390X. Really up to your priorities.
  7. Heres a cheaper one. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3970955&CatId=2688 another usb http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3836211&CatId=2688
  8. Ok.. well lets start looking at a few. heres a usb one- but its not a hidden one- the plus side is that you can move it a little bit if you want http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WN822N-Wireless-External-10-7-10-10/dp/B00416Q5KI/ref=zg_bs_13983791_15 heres an asus pci one http://www.amazon.com/PCE-N15-performance-Wireless-N-Transmit-interface/dp/B0053GR2YI/ref=zg_bs_13983711_21
  9. Ok- we can use Xirrus again- in the column next to the dbm column its going to say 802.11g or 802.11n - tell us which it is. Also- grab the Vendor name - its 4 columns down. Or you could look at the model number on the router and google that.
