  1. Everything was up to date and it was the same with both a wired and wireless mouse. Considering the mouse froze and the internet froze at once, I have to assume that it has some issue beyond the mouse. I only mentioned it because it was a recent change. Though now that you mention it, I checked and it is a purely wireless mouse, no Bluetooth. Could their be interference with the wifi and the mouse that causes both of them to shut down? Update: I tried it again just a moment ago and it worked. I still don't know why. The only things that makes any sense in my head is both the wifi and the wireless single of the mouse being a potential issue. Since It happened (albeit briefly) with 2 different computers, I was hoping it was a more common issue that there was a known fix for.
  2. So have 2 older computers set up for my nephews. An old laptop with i7 37xx CPU and a Nvidia 660M GPU and then I have my old desktop with a i7 3770K and a 1060 6GB GPU. I bought them both Logitech G305 wireless mice recently and since then I've had the occasional problem. The mouse would freeze and the internet would stop working (both system using wifi 10 feet from the modem), but the keyboard would still work. Plugging in a wired mouse doesn't help and the only thing I can think of to fix it is to restart. this does fix it and it hasn't happened on the laptop lately, but when I was trying to install fortnight for the kids on the desktop, it would do this every single time I tried to install it. I tried running as an admin since both kids run kids accounts on those computers, but it doesn't help. The mouse always freezes and the download stalls. I haven't gotten past 5% of the install. They both run windows 10 systems, the desktop is running pro and the laptop is running home. I can't see what is causing this. Can anyone help please?
  3. I've heard from years ago that one of the things that I should do with an SSD was turn off fast Boot. I know a lot of what we were told to do to protect our SSDs years ago is stuff that we don't really need to do anymore or it has been automated so we don't have to worry about it. I've built my first new system in a number of years recently so I wanted to check. However, most of the articles that I see talking about fast Boot are really old. What is the current wisdom on having fast Boot enabled? My SSD is a 970 Evo plus if that's important.
  4. Interesting. I figured the thermal throttle was locked in. I didn't think it would be removed when overclocking. I guess I'll leave things alone for now and run with PBO and call it good. Thanks!
  5. So I got a new 5950x and I've got the bios updated to the latest version. Then I installed the latest version of all of the motherboard drivers and did windows update. I have 3600 ram, so I went into the bios and enabled DOCP and set the infinity fabric clock to 1800. That's all I did in the bios, no CPU overclocking. Everything was updated so I thought I would grab Cinebench R23 and Ryzen Master and see what I could do. Everything worked fine at stock and the CPU got up to 82 degrees or so on Cinebench. When I used Ryzen Master to turn up the clock speed to 4400 and turned the voltage to 1.3, I tried to run it again. I watched it for a few minutes and the temps would increase as the image rendered on the test, then drop 2-3 degrees when the render finished and the screen went black before it started the next render, then the temps would increase once again, getting a little higher with each render. finally I had to stop the test manually when halfway through the test my temps were at 103 degrees. The 5950x is supposed to thermal throttle at 90 degrees, isn't it? To my understanding from looking around, the thermal limit cannot be turned off, but the temps kept climbing. I've looked around at a number of forum posts and I've seen people talking endlessly about their high temps in the 80s. I understand that this CPU runs on the hotter side, but isn't it supposed to limit that heat to prevent the CPU from melting? Or do I just not understand things very well? 6. The same issue on multiple GPUs suggests the issue in on the monitor's end. Does it only happen on the main monitor or does it happen on the others too? Maybe try unhooking 1 or 2 monitors and try with only one for a while and see if that stops the issue. It would be weird, but not unheard of.
  7. I wouldn't worry about trying to remove the Windows install from the other drive unless you absolutely need the space. Just have the boot priority set to the SSD and use the installed games as normal. If you have space in the SSD and want to move everything over, you can clone the drive with a free program like Todo Ease US and copy everything from the SSHD to the SSD and then use the same program to wipe the SSHD after confirming that everything seems to work on the SSD.
  8. Try a different cable to the new monitor. If that doesn't work, try a new cable with a different port on both the monitor and the graphics card. As Windows suggested above, try changing the slot of the graphics card as well. Good luck!
  9. Sounds like a possible internet connection issue. Try turning your VPN off if you have one. I know I can't stream with a VPN going in the background. As for the reason for the recording, that one stumps me a little. Check task manager or CPU-Z for possible performance issues while you are trying to record/stream and see if you notice an obvious bottleneck there. As HellWyrm said, if the drive you are recording to is slow, that could cause some issues. I have a 7200 RPM seagate drive and a much older system and I can record/stream without too many issues. You could also change the format you are recording to and see if that makes any difference. Try running a test on your drive and see if the numbers you get are similar to what you should be getting. Reinstalling the recording software might help too. With weird issues that don't make a lot of sense like this, I tend to just try everything, even if it makes no sense and see what happens. Good luck!
  10. I currently have a Dell U2410 and the black levels make watching movies with any amount of dark scenes pretty much impossible. There is no detail in those dark scenes and everything comes across as a dark grey blur. I'm looking for a monitor that 27-30" with good colour and good black contrast so that I can see whats going on in these dark scenes. I will also be gaming on it, but I don't play any shooters or anything that would need a TN response rate. I play mostly single player games like JRPGs and metroidvania titles. My price range is flexible, but I'm looking around the 400-800$ range. If anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it!
  11. So the cabling in my existing speaker system (logitech Z-2300) for my computer is starting to die on me and I'm looking for a new set of speakers. I'm looking for some input on whether I would be better off finding a new 2.1 set or should I look into a 5.1 set or should I be looking into something more custom. I'm looking for something that sounds good for watching movies and playing single player games as I already have headphones for online games. If anyone could provide me with some insight or has any recommendations of speaker sets to look into, I would appreciate it!
  12. So I got more of a chance to check out my dad's system when it was experiencing problems. My dad's original explanation wasn't all that complete. The system isn't slowing down, it's only Facebook Gameroom. The rest of the system is alright during the whole process. So I'm guessing it's either an issue with the gameroom software itself or flash player. So if anyone knows about that let me know, if not I'll try a couple of solutions that I've Googled in the meantime. Thanks for the original responses.
  13. Alright thanks. I just didn't want to buy a phone and plug my headphones into a dongle only for them to sound like crap I'll stop worrying about it then!
  14. Compared to the DAC in my One Plus One, a phone from early 2014, how would the average DAC in a dongle compare? Is there a couple of donlges that are known to have relatively good DACs?
  15. I'll be watching for the specs when the One plus 6T gets announced tomorrow. I hope that has the 3.5mm jack considering the one plus 6 did. But I was looking for more info on the dongles in case I end up going that route (I'm also considering the Pixel 3).
