  1. I am thinking about custom building an external drive, the main idea is for it to house multiple ssds so that it can be run in raid and have physical redundancy. Since I'm in the planning phase the main concern I have is if a single usb port would be able to provide enough power to run up to 4 drives at the same time. If that's not possible the other option would be to design it in a less portable format with a small power supply, which would be easier but wouldn't be as flexible and convenient. I haven't been able to find what the power draw I'm wondering if anyone has done anything similar or if there is anything similar already on the market.
  2. I changed out the motherboard, cpu, the hard drives, and ssd. I did a clean install of windows and just redownloaded what I needed since a lot of programs on my old drive were broken. The new drives are running in Raid 0, the ssd is seperate. I do have fast boot enabled and set the delay time to 0 seconds. 3. Makes sense, clearly I still haven't learned to read the full specs on things yet
  4. I recently rebuilt my PC and installed windows onto a new M.2 drive, I'm noticing my boot speed is around 30 seconds when I remember having an SSD that would get a boot time of 7 seconds, are M.2 drives just slower than a normal SSD? All startup programs are currently disabled. This is the drive windows is installed on: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/pxKcCJ/crucial-p1-1tb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-ct1000p1ssd8 My full build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/X7dGHB
  5. Hey, I have started to build a desk so that I have a cleaner area for my PC and peripherals. I have the basics down but just need a little help with some of the more complicated parts of the build. I was working on the plans for it before the Rona hit and now that I'm out of a job and we're stuck at home I pulled the trigger as a project to keep me busy. First question I have is what paint to use, I'm looking for a matte black paint and want to have a finish on it that gives the desk a smoother texture and protects it from long term damage. The whole thing is going to be properly sanded down (by hand) but wood tends to keep some of its texture anyway. I'm also looking to mount a power strip into the back of the desk, I can probably figure this out, just wondering if anyone has any examples of similar things they have done. I am working on a custom clear acrylic name plate, and want to have it illuminated with an RGB strip, preferably controlled by ICUE. I'm just not sure if corsair makes any ICUE lighting strips that are meant to be on the outside of the case. If possible I'm also looking at creating a small indent on the two sides of the desk to put another RGB strip and cover it with a clear acrylic plastic to help diffuse the lighting. Ill post progress pictures as I work on this but it's going to take some time since I have very limited tools to work with and also like to try and get things to be as perfect as I can. I appreciate any tips you guys have My Current Desk and Setup: Desk I'm Building:
  6. I am having an issue where in some games for example rainbow six, if I press a abnormal key (for example macros, multimedia buttons including pause play or volume adjustment, the home button on a controller) the game will completely freeze and the only way to get out of it is to hit the reset button on my PC. I didn't notice this issue until I got a new corsair keyboard (it's the Corsair K55). My computer is on the lower to mid range end of the spectrum, it runs games fine but I plan on upgrading things in the near future. It doesn't seem like a performance issue because it happens whenever the game is full-screened it doesn't matter if it's in the main menu or the middle of a game. Alt-tab, the windows key, and cntrl - alt - delete all don't work.
  7. Thank you! That helps a ton!
  8. I am currently working on building a desk to use for gaming and my other projects. I have a general shape and layout drawn out and designed with minor adjustments that still need to be made. I am still new to building things and so I am looking to get some help. For the desk top I am looking to have a black top that has a shine to it like plastic. What material should be used for this? The other option would be to use wood and polish it up with wax or I am also trying to figure out if the whole desk should be made out of this or if the base should be made out of wood which I have more experience working with. If anyone has experience with this kind of thing I would love to get some recommendations and tips for someone who is still learning.
  9. From experience I can say the 400c is nice but there are higher end cases out there if you want more than you need.
  10. It is launching into bios automatically, I just need to leave bios but it will go right back into bios. No settings have been lost. I can try to reinstall the old graphics card.

  12. Evga 500W 80+ certified not modular, is this a possible source for not launching past bios?
  13. So, are their fps issues? Just because its not at 100% usage doesn't mean something is wrong. I don't think those temps are high enough to thermal throttle but I don't know what those temps should be but they do seem pretty high at the same time.
