Hi, don't really use the forum but I thought this was important enough to put in my 2 cents.
To Linus, after watching the WAN show I as well as many of your viewers left with a sour taste in our mouths. I think that whether Riley actually got his feelings hurt is entirely beside the point. Through the years, you've shown us that you care deeply for your employees and I have no doubt that you treat them well, however, I think that what was said on the WAN show went a little too far. You were being rude, and what your said could have easily been taken as being extremely hurtful, and it was taken as such by much of the audience if not by Riley himself. I understand the culture of banter, it's one of my favorite things about TechLinked and TechTips content, but as a content creator, you failed miserably to make it clear in the moment that it was simply banter. Furthermore, and this is what worries me, you're response is entirely dismissive, and contains no apology at all. You don't apologize for it not being clear that it was a joke, hell you don't even recognize that there was any issue whatsoever, when obviously the audience thought there was a problem. I don't like the idea of any content creator absolutely ignoring and dismissing the audience in this way, particularly with such a condescending tone.
Your response to all this, and this is just my interpretation but I think a fair one, is basically "Audience you're stupid for even thinking I was serious when I deadpanned the whole thing, re-watch it and look closer."
I love the content you guys produce and I want to continue enjoying long into the future but I didn't enjoy this content, you can do better.
I hope you all take this constructively and do better in the future for it.
