Console killer pcs still possible in 2022?
sanderlawrence replied to sanderlawrence's topic in General Discussion
I agree with the statement that a PC is probably the cheapest option in the long run. Upfront, building a PC is much more expensive than a console. It would probably cost you almost double or triple the price of the console with peripherals included. With the prices of the GPU's falling down due to cryptos crashing and the arrival of RTX 4000 series, I can say that you can build a PC that's not absurdly expensive for like 800-900 dollars. Sure it doesn't beat the consoles in terms of price to performance but personally, I'd rather spend the extra 300 dollars just to get into the PC platform because a PC can do everything. Games are cheap on Steam and Epic regularly gives free games and also PC's have the capability of running emulators. And when you're studying or working, you're gonna need a PC to check e-mails and documents and do work stuff. -
Can we still build console killer pcs for a good/decent price in today's current market? What are your thoughts? Is it worth spending much for a pc if you're just going to play games?

I solved the problem. I switched to an older driver version Adrenalin 2020 20.1.4. I am now getting a 100 fps on lowest settings in Apex Legends. I'll soon upgrade to a 5600X. Thanks for the reply. Also, AMD's drivers suck. Was thinking on upgrading to an RX 6600 XT because it's much cheaper, but I think I'll just get an RX 3060/Ti or I'll just wait for the RTX 4000 series.

I play high settings on GTA V and the lowest settings on Apex Legends.

I know its a 4 core 4 thread but its capable. You can even search it on youtube with some people paring it with 570 and 580. I've been playing last month with 60 fps but suddenly for some unknown reason, I can't even get past 30 FPS now.

I connected my HDMI cable to my GPU. Yes my resolution is 1080p. My settings are on high and MSAA is set to 2x.

Lately I have been experiencing low fps in games like GTA V singleplayer mode and Apex Legends. My pc specs aren't the best but I believe that they can easily achieve 60 FPS in these games. The first thing that I have done is to update my bios because I haven't updated it since I built my PC. That didn't solve the problem. Second, I tried repasting the CPU and I also cleaned the CPU socket with Isopropyl alcohol and I also check for bent pins and so far I think there's non. After the repasting process, I still get low FPS in games. Third, I tried remove the old drivers using DDU. After the reinstalling the drivers, I still couldn't get 60 FPS in games. The only solution that I could think of is to reformat and reinstall windows. Any help is greatly appreciated. My specs are: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit MSI B450m Mortar (BIOS version 7B89v1E, 2020-06-16) AMD Ryzen 3 2200G with Wraith Stealth Cooler (3.7 GHz stock speed) 2x8GB GSkill TridentZ RGB RAM (3200MHz XMP Profile 2) Gigabyte RX 580 4GB (stock speed) Samsung 860 Evo SSD (500GB) Boot drive WD Caviar Blue 1TB 7200rpm Storage drive EVGA 550 G2 (550W 80+ Gold)

Is the R9 280x still worth getting in 2017? Can it run the modern games in 1080p at high settings?

Is this a good laptop for its price? I'm using it for school and light movie editing. And is this laptop also capable of viewing 4k videos without stuttering? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K1IO3QW/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B01K1IO3QW&linkCode=as2&tag=youtube0b80-20&linkId=53efcef9cc9805062e3829fb2386ff1f
