  1. I'm using SwiftKey 3 but trying our Swiftkey Flow this weekend. IMO it depends on what typing style you like. If you are a thumb typer, like I am, regular SwiftKey is great with it's prediction. But if you like to type with one finger, Swiftkey flow isn't bad. It's still a beta and needs some work though.
  2. My old gateway laptop had to have the case replaced twice by gateway because the cpu would overheat and warp the plastic casing. It is only a single core clocked to 2.0 ghz. I couldn't imagine trying to overclock that thing. Don't worry about overclocking it because it probably won't let you anyway. If you want to overclock, get a desktop rig.
  3. I use my TF101 every day for web browsing. Don't play a lot of games on it but my fiance does.
  4. I agree with Salmiakbal. For taking notes at school, pencil and paper is just so much better than trying to type. When I first went to college, I kept telling myself that I would take my laptop to take notes on. But all throughout engineering school, I never once needed to. Most of my professors would post their lecture notes online before class so I could just print them out and make my notes directly on their presentation. This worked out much better than a friend of mine who insisted on using his laptop to take notes. He had to borrow my notes to finish taking his. But having a laptop/ultrabook is a good idea for group presentation work. I would never take my laptop because it was a freaking heavy brick of a laptop. But if I were to go back to school, any lightweight ultrabook with a really good battery life would probably work well.
  5. Wait until Surface Pro is released and see what the other manufactures come out with. Maybe even wait for the second generation products if you're not in dire need of one now.
  6. I like the idea in concept but don't like it because I still want to build my own gaming rig.
  7. I have an Asus Transformer TF101 and absolutely love it. After using the tablet, I couldn't ever see myself ever wanting to buy a laptop. I can sit on the couch and do my web surfing and checking out LinusTechTips on Youtube and then when I want to get some serious work done or gaming, I have my desktop. Sitting on my couch and just playing our would stink if i had to use my fiance's old school laptop.
  8. I'm curious to see how the big space bar actually works.
  9. absolutely loving all the videos! Best coverage that I've seen!
  10. I am fine with the ads, but I do agree that the placement could with better. I'm right with Winther on this one.
  11. I concur with MaxX. XP was a great OS but it has run it's course and probably not something you would want to plan on using for too much longer in the future. I've tried Ubuntu from booting from a flash drive (just to play around with it) but I doubt your rig will boot from a flash drive (it might though, just depends on the bios) because my old xp laptop won't. My advice, read as much as you can on the forum and learn what components work well for certain tasks. Depending on what you want to do, you could build a budget friendly rig.
  12. I'm thinking about getting this for my i7 920.
