CJN221's Achievements

  1. You definitely need better memory, 1x8GB stick isn't gonna cut it. I would recommend 16GB, if not, atleast get 2x4GB to take advantage of dual-channel memory. I would also get an 850W PSU for overclocking and for future upgrades, other then that it looks solid.
  2. What bugs have you discovered so far in Windows 10? Mine would be Gmail. My Gmail for whatever reason will not load, I have to load the standard HTML version. All was fine before the upgrade then it suddenly doesn't work? It works elsewhere in my house too, I use Google Chrome.
  3. Wait.. what are you doing with a 5820K and only a 750 ti? Did you upgrade the processor, or was that planned?
  4. IKR, that's what I've been wondering. That for me was one of the scariest parts of the build. I had no trouble what so ever with my build but I definitely took my time with that because I thought if I got it wrong I could short out my board, lol.
  5. I have a stash of dust remover cans, so every two or so months I go in there take off the GPU, all case fans, and CPU heatsink. I then clean the inside with the compressed air directing all the dust out of the case instead of just spraying randomly. I take the fan off my heatsink then run the heatsink under the faucet letting water get in between all the little fins, then I leave it in the sun to dry. When it's dry there's not a spec of dust on it. I clean all the case fans with compressed air and maybe a microfiber clothe.I also clean the outside of the case with a damp rag. I've never damaged a component cleaning my computer.
  6. That's so true, static charge damage is over rated. When I was little and I would take apart computers, I would do so on my carpet floor and I didn't harm any component. As long as you keep it in mind and don't run across carpet with socks on to get a screwdriver or something you will be totally fine without anti-static bands, bags, pads, etc.
  7. Get some more G.Skills memory and get rid of that random 1x4GB stick. You could take advantage of dual channel memory. I would also consider a better graphics card. It's up to you which one but you could sell the 270X for even a bigger budget. You can even upgrade to an FX-8350. It would be perfect to take advantage of your 990 chipset. In other words sell the GPU and CPU, get the same G.Skills RAM kit, then analyze your money and decide which GPU is best for you. P.S. If you have any leftover money, you should get an SSD to run your OS and games. Just get the cheapest one you can find, as long as your taking advantage of flash memory technology its an upgrade
  8. Gateway DX 4860. It had an Intel i5-2320, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD (Which I still have), Nvidia GTX 210
  9. I have all sorts of brands in my computer, I've I only built one so its hard to decide. Corsair is nice, they have quality products and good customer support. Cooler master is also nice with there cases and cpu cooling. I have an MSI R9-280X, I like their whole "Twin Frozr" thing.
  10. I would go with 1600Mhz. Technology is evolving. There is already memory as fast as 3000+Mhz. Don't get left in the past with 1333Mhz.
  11. On CPU boss the i7 got a 7 out of 10 and the i5 got a 7.9 out of 10. Keep in mind that the 950 is much cheaper
  12. I would sell what you have, then just go on youtube and follow one of those budget build guides. Your components are very outdated and one of those guides would integrate newer tech into there.
  13. Intel i7-4690K ASUS Sabertooth Z97 MARK1 That still leaves you a little money (assuming you know where and when to buy those for the best possible deals) With this I would upgrade to a 256GB SSD or 128GB SSD (depending on how much money you still have). This is a good time to get onto this new technology since your going to have to reinstall windows anyway. You might as well install it on a new SSD.
