  1. Ya, I have a bad habit of getting caught up in the branding. I think the GA-Z270N-WiFi pretty much covers all the bases for me honestly.
  2. Just like this? https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2hdFf7/gigabyte-ga-z270n-wifi-mini-itx-lga1151-motherboard-ga-z270n-wifi Is there any need to get the 'Gaming' version, or is the performance still amazing?
  3. Hi all, I'm in the process of planning to build a new computer for college (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yY63XH) and ran into a problem. The Gigabyte GA-Z170N motherboard I have comes with a BIOS that doesn't support the 7th Generation i7-7700 I'm planning on building with it. I don't have another CPU that could go into the build and was wondering how I would go about updating the BIOS. I've heard about 'Q-Flash' but I have no idea what that is or how it would work. Do I just need to take it into a local computer shop and get it updated or can I somehow boot it from a USB with the new 7700. I really like the motherboard I'm looking at right now (WiFi, Bluetooth, Thunderbolt, etc) but if it's neccesary I can change the build and am still open to being flexible with the whole build since you all know much more than I do. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!
  4. Good to know, I might do that since I'm not as comfortable/familar with liquid cooling. How's the SSD by SKHynix? I've never heard of them. Any reason for the Ryzen? Also with the Liquid CPU cooler would thermals be looking okay?
  5. Alright good to know! Thank you so much for your help! If I don't feel comfortable water cooling, would it be okay to just get a more powerful CPU fan?
  6. Haha, yup just making sure, thank you! Does the rest of the build look okay?
  7. Thank you, so it wouldn't perform under a normal load? Recommendations for a liquid cooler?
  8. What do you mean? Like you don't get a physical click when you push down? For my S6, both buttons feel like they need the same pressure to be pushed down, so it might be a defect or may just be broken from where and tear. Did you drop it, spill something on it that may have caused the button to end up that way?
  9. Hey, all I'm headed off to college next year (staying in a double dorm). I am bringing my Mini-ITX PC build but need a new laptop for on the go. Any suggestions? The Goal: A laptop for on the go Lightweight, portable, and decent battery life While $800 would still work, I would like to save money here if possible, so around $500 Purpose General College Student Note-taking Browsing Light programming I've considered a Chromebook but neither of the Universities I'm considering use Google Education Current Proposal: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-V3-372T-5051-13-3-inch-Notebook/dp/B01682HZAQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493182819&sr=8-1&keywords=Acer+Aspire+V+13+V3-372T-5051+13.3-inch+Full+HD+Touch+Notebook+-+Platinum+White+(Intel+i5%2C+6GB+RAM%2C+256GB+SSD%2C+Windows+10)#Ask Thoughts? Any other ideas? I'm not particularly fond of the white but can't find anything else. Thank you!
  10. I'm headed off to college (staying a double dorm) and was thinking of finally building my new computer. The Goal: A High Performance Desktop PC With a total budget of $2,000 I plan on spending around $1,200 here Mini ITX build for portability when the PC needs to come home and to not take up excess space Purpose While I plan on being a stem major (CAD, Programming) the bulk of the power would be needed for my other hobbies of video editing and gaming Premiere Pro GTA V Overwatch General AAA Titles I already own a nice keyboard and mouse to go with the PC I currently have 1 1080p monitor I plug into a laptop, while I assume that's all I will bring with me I may upgrade to a 144p or even 4k monitor in the future. Should I upgrade CPU, RAM? Go fully modular on PSU? Is the case too big?
  11. Thanks all, and bumping this thread real quick. I've been looking for a laptop and came up on this: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-V3-372T-5051-13-3-inch-Notebook/dp/B01682HZAQ/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486419591&sr=1-1&keywords=acer+v13&linkCode=ll1&tag=laptologist05-20&linkId=bcfa99c7a53e9fc4a292def930e3f0b5 Thoughts?
  12. No need for a CPU an extra CPU fan in your mind? So I should stay with the i7 or go for a Ryzen? Are there even any Mini-ITX Ryzen mobo's out there? Nice idea on the smaller case, any concern about cooling it?
