  1. Something you could try is opening an admin Command Prompt by pressing [start]+'x', and then running the one that says 'Command Prompt (Admin)' Next type in the console 'sfc /scannow' and that should fix any corrupt system files. At the end it will tell you if it fixed or replaced anything. You may need to restart your PC and run this command multiple times before it fixes the file you want it to if you have many corrupt system files. I hope this helps, it worked for me when I deleted the entire Cortana folder (C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy). I would love to know how this works out for you!
  2. Yes, it is overkill for vanilla minecraft, but some modpacks these days with 300+ mods can take a lot to run, I'd say those specs are perfect for even the biggest of modpacks.
  3. I know some people prefer NVIDIA over AMD because NVIDIA is more reliable, however, the RX480 for around the same price as the GTX960 will be a much better option. As for the RAM, I would go with 2x4gb sticks instead of 1x8gb stick so that they can run in dual channel. You may also consider gettin RAM that has a clock of 1866mhz for a slight increase in speed, I might suggest HyperX Fury. Sorry about that, I didn't realize that you chose a Skylake processor.

    Best Monitor?

I agree with this, but then ACER is probably the most reliable of the listed brands.
  5. I posted a thread on this yesterday, here is the link:
  6. That's odd, the update should have re enabled it, it re enabled Cortana for me which is why I posted this thread. One thing you could try is to follow the steps and instead of setting AllowCortana to 0, try setting it to 1.
  7. Wow, another giveaway! What I like about the Axon 7 is its beautiful look, perfect size screen, and great hardware. Winning this would save me from spending $519 on a One Plus 3.
  8. That's just the version of Windows, the brand new one that just came out.
  9. Well, make sure you have plenty of battery, it is a long update. Also, you have to reconfigure quite a few things once its done, I had to redo my shortcuts and fix my resolution.
  10. I have a very strong urge to mark that as solved. But I wont.
  11. @PhotonicThat is another option I suppose, however it is a download, and is probably fine but for security freaks who don't want to download things and want to do it on their own, this is an alternative option.
  12. Along with what cdsboy2000 said, check task manager by pressing ctrl+shift+esc and going to performance, see what your cpu usage, RAM usage and disk usage is at. Also a full hard drive slows your performance drastically, so make sure that's not the case.
  13. Read this thread if you believe that the NSA is listening to you via Cortana. It is astonishingly easy to disable Cortana (well, not even close to as easy as it should be, Microsoft needs to get it together) Before you read this thread you should know that we will be changing the Windows registry which can lead to some irreversible problems if you are careless, that said, these are very straight forward instructions, anyone can do it! Step #1: -Go to the settings for Cortana and disable everything that has to do with Cortana. This step is not necessary but if you believe in being extra careful, do this. Step #2: -Enter the windows registry editor by holding down the start menu key and pressing 'r', and then type in 'regedit', press enter and when a dialog box appears, press 'yes' -In the registry, navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\ -Now that you are at the 'Microsoft' folder, right click the 'Windows' folder and select New>Key, name this key 'Windows Search' -All you have to do now is right click the 'Windows Search' folder and select New>DWORD (32-bit) Value and, name it 'AllowCortana', now double click it and make sure the value is set to 0, and it's a hexadecimal (not sure if it has to be) Step #3: -Finally you are ready to get rid of Cortana, all you need to do is a restart and you will now be back to the good old "Search Windows" bar *It is important noting that if you want to get Cortana back in the future, it is as easy as navigating back to the 'AllowCortana' file, double clicking it, setting the value to 1. If that fails, just delete it. Microsoft, there is a huge number of people who hate Cortana, just make it easier to disable! I don't check back in here regularly, but when I do I would be happy to answer any questions!
  14. To anyone reading this thread, my problem has been solved. Well, after about two months of not being able to use windows app store, calculator, news, photos, videos, the problem has been solved. How? Around the beginning of the problem 2 months ago, I deleted a file somewhere in the windows power-shell folder as a fix for the problem that I found online, this did not work. However I believe it influenced the solution because today the Windows 10 Anniversary update began an when it was over, I found that Windows Apps finally worked again! How can you achieve this? I do not recommend deleting the file and can not help you figure out which one it was anyway because I forget, so I guess all you can do is wait for a major update or contact Microsoft for assistance. I have never dealt with Microsoft so I don't know how good their support is but I'm sure they could send you a file to reinstall the Windows App Store?
  15. My keyboard is a basic Logitech membrane keyboard and my mouse is also some awful Logitech mouse, as for my headphones I know nothing other than that they are black earbuds from some non-descript brand. Winning this giveaway would definitely help a lot.
