  1. And... after a few hours the system once again booted without issue, as if nothing had happened. I'm honestly at a loss, but to be on the safe side I've ordered a new PSU on the off chance the current one decides to take the PC with it the next time it goes <Knock on Wood>.
  2. Alright now I have some new information which might change things, while the fan on the PSU doesn't stay on, the PSU does successfully power a peripheral port (specifically a molex power plug).
  3. Hey everyone, I've got a bit of a weird one for you. I built this PC roughly 4 years ago, and for the most part it's been working great. Over the course of its life so far though it's had 5-6 occassions where after a full shutdown, it's refused to turn on again for a short while. The power button doesn't do anything to my knowledge, with no fans turning on and no POST happening. Usually after waiting for a few hours the PC powers on again normally. After it happened again 2 weeks ago and I needed the PC quickly, I reseated the Motherboard PSU cable which fixed the issue. When it happened again today, a reseat did not work, and a PSU test using EVGA's tester produced mixed results. The first time the fan spun and turned off a couple seconds later, and following attempts resulted in the fan either not spinning at all, or again a couple seconds of fan spin before turning off. While I'm pretty convinced the issue is with the PSU, what I'm not sure of is if this is just a MB cable that's become damaged (it was relatively tightly wrapped in cable management), or if the entire PSU is dead. I could also be misinterpreting an expected result and have a completely different issue, hence why I'm here. 4. Hi everyone! I've been looking around the internet for a definitive stance on this issue, and I can't seem to find one so I'm creating this post here. For quite a while now I've been in the market for a UPS. I've got a mid-high level system (the full link to which can be found here), and I was just getting ready to purchase this APC power supply when the top question caught my eye. It asks about a specific power supply, and many responses state that because the unit is not "Pure Sin Wave Input" it can either not function or damage the power supply. When I googled around to do some more research, I found answers ranging from "no it isn't a problem" to "if you use it your PSU or UPS will explode." I've found no answers with any sort of data or specific situations to back up these claims, and now I'm worried about which claims actually hold some truth to them. An equivalent APC product with this functionality is over $350, and I'd really rather not pay that much for a UPS if I could avoid it. So my question is, is it known for sure how this kind of UPS will act when coupled with Active PFC power supplies like EVGA's?
  5. If AMD had a better price/performance ratio, they would have to offer that new card at just over $200... Which I doubt they can afford to.
  6. So, you guys think this is going to put AMD out of business?
  7. Scratch that, apparently Lizard Squad doesn't like tech news...
  8. Agreed, but when it started out it had issues with certain computer hardware. Not sure if they're still there, but the problems definitely caused less people to convert over.
  9. *Feel free to correct me if I'm misinformed on any information here Hi everyone! If you've caught the WAN Show live at any point in the last 3 weeks, you've probably noticed that it's been nearly unwatchable due to the constant drops and glitches. From what I've heard, the problem is with Twitch's servers, but it could also be with their ISP or in-building hardware. I know there's a YouTube archive and everything, but given that the WAN Show is a live event, I'm wondering if Linus may consider trying to switch to YouTube or Facebook for livestreams (assuming the problem is with Twitch). At the least it may be worthwhile to run a couple test streams to see if they still have the problems they did when they started out. Anyway, this is directed at everyone, so feel free to voice your opinions! -Cheers!
  10. That keyboard keyboard is by far my favorite, that thing just looks awesome! Also Cherry MX Brown switches ftw!
  11. My GPU is an EVGA GTX 970. I don't think I'll have problems with overall performance considering what I've seen so far, though I'm not sure about how much VRAM a 4k moniter will usually take up. And that's what I was looking for! Thank you!
  12. Hi everyone! Before I start off I'd like to say that I have no experience with multimonitor setups... so I'm not really sure about the limits on what you can do with them. I'm looking into adding a second moniter to my computer, but instead of setting up two 1080p moniters for widescreen gaming, I'd like to get a 4k moniter in addition to my my current 1080p one. Basically I'd like to use the 1080p moniter for games so that I can still max out settings, and use the 4k moniter for more general usage like watching videos, photo/video editting, and other less graphics card intensive work. Once again I'm not sure about the limits on what multimoniter setups can be used for, but I have heard a couple people talk about similar setups, so I'm curious to see if it would work. Is this possible? And if so, is there anything I should know before attempting it?
