I will be running a R9 3950X (probably will upgrade to 5900x/5950x), Gigabyte RTX 3080 AORUS XTREME (currently running a 2080 Ti), and 128GB RAM all will be OCed. I currently have a EVGA 750W G3, and after reading about the transient spikes and high consumption of Amepere GPUs (especially with the 3 pin on some aib 3080) think it may be a good idea to upgrade the PSU. I did think about buying a 850W Superflower Leadex 3 or RMX850 since those are in stock, but then since upgrading from a 750W, might as well get a 1000W to make it worthwhile/substantial. The FSP unit you sent, is that a revision of the 2019 one that was reviewed by Tweaktown and kitguru? I notice HG2-1000 as the product number, but also no reviews on Newegg. That unit was totally under my radar haha.

Ahh I really do want to get the RMX haha, but unfortunately the RMX 1000 isn't in stock for the $204.99 retail it sells (a.k.a Bestbuy) and is closer to $300 on Newegg and Amazon. I did just order a Seasonic Focus GX-1000 for $170 but plan on returning it considering the whole fiasco involving Seasonic Focus lineup suffering from tripping OCP due to transient spikes, and not being on par to ATX 2.52 spec. Apparently, the GX lineup didn't really fix this issue as commonly known, being that it is based off the same platform as the previous Focus Plus (don't take my word on this, I just read somethings up regarding this online). http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?17974-SeaSonic-shutdown-issue-hot-in-Korea According to this post, in South Korea, distributors selling the FX, PX, and even the newer GX lineup are having issues with shutdown and OCP on Ampere GPUs. There is a relatively new power supply by Superflower released mid-2020 on the leadex platform called the Leadex Gold V (Pro). This seems very promising since it is 130mm in length making it the smallest 1000w atx power supply in the market. Considering Superflower has a great track record with their Leadex 3 Gold platform, I’m wondering if anyone could chime in with thoughts and opinions? @jonnyGURU @LukeSavenije@LienusLateTips There isn’t any reviews out right now, but based on the specifications on Superflower webpage this seems like a pretty good unit to drive Ampere (with the high transient spikes). Do you think the 750w G3 is not enough and that I should just shoot for the 1000W power supply?

Yeah, it seems to me that the Seasonic would be a better buy, however since they had issues previously that was known regarding the OCP and transient spikes for Vega and Ampere, I don't know if this unit would experience the same issues (especially since they are based off of the same platform as the Focus Gold/Plus that had issues) .

I just got a Gigabyte 3080 Aorus Xtreme coming in the mail and it requires 3 8 pins while recommending 850W (though Nvidia recommends 750W). I currently have an EVGA 750W G3 and I'm not sure if that'll enough considering that 30 series card are known to trip power supply OCP with the high transient spikes. I would prefer to keep the 750W as it's the most economical for me if it is enough (as opposed to dropping close to $200 for a 1000W). However, I am starting to look into the market for 1000W power supplies (if I were to upgrade the 750W, I might as well jump to 1000W instead of 850W to be substantial). The first one is the Seasonic Focus GX-1000 80+ Gold unit. This one is apparently tier-A in the PSU tierlist, however Seasonic has had a bad track record with some units in this lineup not being able to handle the transient spikes and tripping OCP with some of their units which makes me wary. I am unsure if this unit in particular is affected but it is based off the same units that had issues (Focus Plus/Gold). The other unit that I am looking is the Super Flower Leadex V Gold PRO 1000W. This is a fairly new PSU but has no reviews whatsoever. It is made by Super Flower, who is the OEM of the G3. I'm not sure if I should just get this one instead (It is $15 more). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I heard the 30 series have some high transient spikes so I'm not sure if the G3 could handle it, with the reported OPP issues (I read somewhere). So I'm thinking of upgrading to a 1000W power supply. Is the Seasonic GX 1000W Gold 80+ unit good for the 3080? I can't find any reviews online and Seasonic also had a back record of OCP issues regarding the transient spikes for the Ampere and Vega GPUs, which makes me wary and not sure if this particular unit is affected. Another option that is instock is the Super Flower Leadex V Gold PRO 1000W, but it came out only a few months ago and has no reviews. Which one is better or should I keep the 750w G3? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Ohh really? Yeah tax definitely did also bump up my PC cost by a bunch and I spent around 40 bucks on 2 usb wifi adapters finding out one of them broke. Yeah ethernet is a problem for my room as well. Is your pricing in USD?

Yeah then again right now everything you can get for cheaper of better parts for the same price, but that is a good budget build as well! I'm thinking of a mini itx gaming pc build this summer to do so nice recommendations though!
