  1. I would probably want to go with a 2x4gb setup then, if the price is roughly the same as a single 8gb stick. And as for upgradability, if there comes a time to upgrade RAM, he would likely replace the RAM completely with a new set, so it shouldn't matter.
  2. I would probably only do 8g of RAM for him too since he only plays steam games, so I could drop one of those sticks of ram off, unless I would screw the system over somehow.
  3. Just a personal thing. I've used Corsair for RAM and Power Supplies for years, so I tend to lean towards them when looking for new ones.
  4. There won't be any overclocking involved here, but I will keep the rest of that info in mind. Thank you.
  5. I usually try to go with Corsair power supplies since thats what I've always used and never had problems, but if that seasonic one is highly rated, I may go with it if the price is right.
  6. IDK if I want to go with Ryzen though. I've heard varying reviews about Ryzen and I've never really heard anything bad about i5s/i7s.
  7. True, but I am trying to keep things as low as possible while still getting something pretty decent. At the end of the day I still have to get my wife to approve and the lower I am when i ask her, the better my chances.
  8. I'll have to see how things play out budget wise. This is mostly just a brainstorming process for now, but I really would like to make it a reality for my friend.
  9. Hey. Sometimes your priorities are more about helping out a friend then getting something new for yourself.
  10. I was thinking about avoiding an SSD and just getting a decent HDD to get my friend started and he can mess with it after that. Could change things up a little bit.
  11. Care to show me? I priced out the same system on PC Part Picker and came up a couple hundred over the price of this premade.
  12. I found this premade desktop on bestbuy.com and it seems like a pretty good deal. Is it worth getting, or can i do better buying parts myself? Looking to possibly surprise a friend with a machine much better than the surplus machine he got from a hospital getting rid of old machines. (Best Buy link)
