  1. I like OC myself but, if you're willing to give it up, you could: 1- Go with this CPU http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646i54460 2- Get a cheaper cooler, since you won't OC 3- Buy the OS from kinguin or a similar site (much cheaper) 4- Use the saved cash to buy a 980 or even a r9 fury This would give you better overall performance in games
  2. Put the pump around 70% and fans shouldn't need more than 40% give or take.
  3. Personally I'd use a good mp3 converter and store it on the phone... There's still way too much stuff I like to hear missing from services like Google Music, Spotify... You'll also have the advantage of not being dependent on an Internet connection to hear what you want.
  4. Negligible difference... the 6600k might pull slightly ahead in some cases as it's single core performance has been improved over Devil's Canyon CPUs and games don't take advantage of the virtual cores in the core i7s. Full tower's make the hardware in them seem small (I think Linus called it "dwarfigism" or something like that ). Other than that they're fine...
  5. Well, in my country DDR4 is already at the same price of DDR3 (even slightly cheaper in some cases) and Skylake has some nice features. Assuming the DDR4 price scenario is the same in the UK, there should be no reason to go for the 4690k.
  6. A little overkill but nice this ^ ... Completely forgot about Skylake for a second...
  7. 4690k is a more reasonable choice if you use the PC mostly for gaming. Also, since you seem to want upgrade your whole PC, keep in mind that you might need a slightly better PSU if go the 390/390x route.
  8. Do yourself a favor and don't cf the 7970... it's a stutter fest. While the cards are individually awesome, the architecture of the 7970 and 7950 didn't handle cf as well as it should and caused way too much micro-stutter. I had 2x 7950 vapor x and at the the time it felt like a huge upgrade switching to an r9 290....
  9. Adding a 120mm fan to my second PC (prebuilt my father bought me and I knew nothing about PC's at the time), I connected it to 3 random pins... When I tried to turn on the PC, it powered for 1 second and turned off. In panic I pressed the power button 20 times and "BANG!!!"... the motherboard blew up... And then I ran like hell away from my father
  10. Well... for 4k none of them make much sense anyway and below that resolution they're pretty close... As it has been said, get the cheapest
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in this specific benchmark, the 390 only has +1 Average fps but the "minimums" are quite lower meaning the 970 would give an overall smoother experience... And if you consider power consumption, you won't need a PSU as powerful to run the 970 making the bang for buck argument not as compelling. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/powercolor_radeon_r9_390_pcs_8gb_review,8.html
  12. Hmm it would be a little too close for comfort but it should work yes.... Just don't go ham on the OCs http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/asus_radeon_r9_380_strix_review,5.html
  13. What's your PSU? AMD cards are somewhat power-hungry....
  14. Both Zotac and the Gigabyte have been showing very good OC capabilities... Can't go wrong with any of them.
  15. VRAM quantity ≠ performance. You'll have some gains in rendering by having more VRAM, but in gaming the 980ti's increased core speed will give you better performance as I already showed you in this link: http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-980-ti-g1-gaming-soc-review,13.html You won't need to push those fans (maxwell architecture is very energy efficient) and even if you did, normally the cards become old and obsolete long before the fans die (as long as they don't come with any factory defect )
