  1. Just to let you know you were right on the money, one of the 4 screws behind the backplate was slightly loose. temps are now steady @52c under full load and boost behaviour is now much more consistent at 200mhz over factory max without any manual over clocking thank you very much!
  2. You know that makes a lot of sense I will do that, I have rung screws in the past with EK stuff so was being extra gentle this time around. Maybe a bit too gentle.. will report back in case you’re interested thanks for helping me out friend.
  3. Yes at first I thought I just needed to speed up so set fans and pump to full speed but temps are still in the 70’s anywhere from 40% to 100% fan and pump speed. I ran fire strike extreme several times including a stress test. The card boosts up to 1800mhz but settles around 1770 after 30 mins. Temps level out at 72c. performance is better than average for my set up according to 3dmark so I don’t believe the card is under performing. I had to use EK’s slim rads in the build to fit everything but still it’s 5x 140mm so should be plenty and then some. if my idle temp is 27-33c then doesn’t that rule out thermal paste application as a contributor or should I drain the loop and double check?
  4. Fair enough, was expecting it to run hotter than I am used to but 73c is the same temps reported for the card under air...
  5. Hey I’ve been water cooling with custom loops for 6 years so am used to seeing temps around 50c but I just finished building my new rig and have my 3090 and 3700x under water with 1x 280mm EK se rad 1x 420mm EK se rad d5 pump red combo no overclocking my gpu temps are seriously high at 73c after just 20mins benchmark in tomb raider. gpu is at full load cpu is sitting at 50c idle temps are fine... do I need to drain the loop and check thermal compound application? I’ve done this many times never got it wrong. the back of the gpu is roasting hot to the touch like so hot you couldn’t keep your hand on it for long which I have heard is normal due to the vram on the back but I have back plate installed. mare these temps in normal range for this power hungry card? Can’t imagine so. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
  6. Sorry didn’t think it mattered much asus strix x570 ryzen 3700x corsair vengeance pro 3200mhz 32gb (alternative kit tested- ballistix 3200mhz kit) rtx 3090 rog Thor psu 980 pro m.2 pcie 4 870 evo ssd phanteks evolv x
  7. Hey guys, I won’t waste your time with an extensive post just want a sanity check finished my new build and it wouldn’t start Q-code: 00 with dram led on i took the ram and tried it in another system it worked perfectly i took a fresh set of ram and tried it on my mobo. Same light and code. checked cpu anyway for bent pins but it is perfect. I have rma’d the mobo but am wondering if it might be the cpu. Is it possible for the mobo to be reading a ram issue when really it’s the cpu or do I have dead ram slots? obviously tried all slots with both ram sets. thanks
  8. Case requirements Double bay res (2x 5.25" drive bays) 360mm radiator Budget- £100 or less Hi I am donating my old pc to my wife who needs an upgrade from her ancient laptop. I currently use a HAF X with a double bay EKD5 res and a top mounted 360mm rad. She hates the case obviously and I want to get something 'minimalist' but struggling to find something that can support both requirements for £100 or less. Thanks in advance for any suggestions
  9. it was the new cable, ordered another from different seller, thanks
  10. swapped the gpu's and can confirm both are working, its a new cable for the card that isnt working
  11. they are in the correct slots, its my original card that is refusing to enable so I know both cards work, Is it possible its the slot?
  12. Hi system specs are in my signature, I installed a 2nd gtx1080 into my system but windows is disabling it "device is not working properly error code 43" It is physically installed correctly and I have removed my drivers. Any help would be appreciated
  13. cpu upgrade? It’s never bottlenecked at 4k for me. Only time it holds me back at all is in apex where I max out at 150fps.. perhaps if I was playing more games at 1080p or 1440p at greater than 60fps it would be a good choice. Besides the only thing I can upgrade to is an i7 4770k with the 1150 socket as far as I know
