  1. So I've been struggling with some hardware concerns for a while now, been trying to troubleshoot stuff. However I've hit a wall, my device manager refuses to work. It functions perfectly normal, until I request a hardware scan, at which point it instantly freezes my computer. No mouse movement, *assuming* no audio, no anything. Just dead. Originally this began to happen back in December with my 6700 XT, because of this and due to bad performance, I return the GPU. I've done 3 Reformats struggling with my 6TB Drive, which finally got rectified. It's now in my attention that it wasn't entirely the GPU causing these conflicts. Anyway, I've been searching for some troubleshooting advice, regarding the Device Manager freezing during a Hardware Scan Request, I've only found reports of the issue happening, and recommendations from 2017 stating to run some scans. This is a fresh install since Yesterday, nothing major was installed. And no hardware was added or removed since the GPU and reformatting. I've included an image of my device manager.
  2. I did buy it second hand back in a close 2017/2018 for $200, never actually tested it myself (till it was returned from ASUS), it had 2 broken fan blades on the same fan. other than that i think the card would have functioned fine. I thought ASUS would have helped when I RMA'd it within warranty, but sadly they refused it because of the fan damage, they wanted me to pay $200+ at the time to get a replacement. Even at todays market I feel that wouldn't suffice lol. I don't think the ASUS reps or the previous owner had removed the heatsink and I don't think I had either. Just the shroud. I think I should be fine avoiding a repaste for now. Reason I say my system would be impeded by another AIO, Is i have 1 fan ontop, one beneath the radiator, and one as the exaust. top and front are Bequiet series same model, and the exhaust is a beastly enermax with an external button for 3 settings, even low is powerful. I do have another AIO for a 6700k that I own, but it's dual-fan, I doubt it'd really fit at the top between the lower rad and the top-left ITX board. if anything it'd be one hell of a fit lol. I think tomorrow I'll tackle the PC and get my motherboard's rebate setup, and look back into the R9 390 with the zipties, i'll try setting the fans on the card just to see how it goes.
  3. Looking for a cost efficient way to modify my already disassembled Asus Strix R9 390. I attempted a ghetto rig with two fans and zip-ties. Normal and light usage was fine, but the higher demands started causing issues like crashes or lock ups, I believe the cause may be related to the method of how I connected the fans into the motherboard instead of the card, thus the onboard cooling assuming no cooling was present? I'd like to just see what possible options are out there, given the age of the card, I know it's not the best, but it's probably better than a i9 10850k and a Ryzen 5 2400G in some regard. Overall usage is single player games, blender / unity, and that's really it. People have recommended the NZXT cooler that requires an AIO, but overall that would impede on my case, as I got 3 fans and a 2-fan radiator for the Primary (10850k) System. Anyway, with the market as bad as it is, I'd like to make this card function again, and once the market improves, I can still use it as I have a Dual-System P600S setup. Honestly I'd even have to confirm if the card even works at this point, as it's been rejected and idly sitting in a box lol. EDIT: what would work best? Blowing air into the card, or blowing away from the card... wait... with two fans, one blowing in, the other blowing out? airflow is confusing!
  4. I just ended up getting the 600mm Phanteks one from Amazon, same brand and all. other brands wanted like $130+ think one claimed to be 4.0 compatible but not like I need that much out of it.
  5. The one i have works, it's just a PCI-x1 and cant take anything bigger than a wifi card or capture card. It's supposed to run from the top of the PC Case, in the mini-ITX, through the back, down the case, and under the primary motherboard, and cross the bottom into a platform that it screws into, to utilize the vertical install slots. They're easy to find, they're just generally really expensive. More than they really should be, to be honest.
  6. I need a 600mm riser cable for enabling usage of any type of GPU in the future for my side-system, I have a Dual-System build utilizing the Phanteks P600S. Unfortunately the riser that came with the upgrade kit, was a 600mm PCI-x16 to PCI-x1, which is literal E-waste. Serves no purpose for my intended build. After looking online I see that anything that's 600mm is well over 80CAD. Does anyone have any recommendations, or suggestions where I could get a 600mm PCI-x16 riser card that isn't poorly made, and still easy on the bank?
  7. I agree, however my circumstances need the most minimalistic approach. I have 3 cases on the go right now, my base PC is now without a GPU, and my new build is still sitting with it's guts hanging out, quite literally. I've been on a laptop since November, 2020. I just wanna get everything put together and I feel in the long term, this may be my best approach. Either way I need a new case cause I'm not getting a video card that'll meet my needs, and fit the Cougar QBX Mini-ITX case I have. Assuming I even can FIND a video card, I'd practically have to jump on it to manage to get anything, maybe end up scalping it myself just so I can buy what I CAN use, by buying at scalper rates. I've been looking for as many alternatives as I can, I just wanna put the PC together so that if/when I can get a card it's not a nightmare to re-open, and to have the computer ready for when I move. I never expected things to go this far south (between personal life and the markets)
  8. Does anyone know any actually good and potentially compact Dual-Motherboard cases? I can't find anything I can do a refined search on, they're so obscure. I'm using M-ITX and M-ATX, 2 water coolers, 1 Dual-Fan and 1 Single-Fan, 2 power supplies, 2 sets of ram. I have everything I could possibly need if needed. I have a Tempered Glass Phanteks case, and a Cougar QBX and I wanna sell them both, and make some room. plus I have no reasonable GPU space in the Cougar QBX anyway. So this seems like a better alternative for me for now.
  9. Question on that. Where would the be listed do you think? Aliexpress / Alibaba? I get those 2 confused. Cause I mean if I get something they wanna just sell quickly, for a reasonable value... I'd definitely like to look into it. especially if I can get something that was purchased "recently" I can utilize a return for a new in box replacement for "functionality concerns"
  10. 100% truth xD I remember using prepaid visa cards on steam and watched as that 1cent ever so fiendishly grew to 10, then 20cents difference per dollar. fast forward from 2012 to 2016-2017, it was 1.44 average, we finally hit as low as 1.20 per USD within the last month or so (Y M D: 2021-07-08) I checked out a quick search found a 3060 Ti, that when compared to cad, was about $870 give or take. Unfortunately it had no stock, but if it was instock, far better than scalpers. But with the duties, shipping and etc, might as well get a scalped 2080/70 I suppose. Yeah, Originally I knew the prices were bad back in december, but I never expected it to get so bad when I sold my GTX 980 Ti (strixx) for $380cad, when going rate at this point is an easy $700-$800. Plus to add salted-lemons to the wound, the bad prices ended up becoming even higher, which made that $380 hardly an excusable off-set to the scalped pricing. This lead to me finding out just how bad /all/ cards ended up being, can't even "cheap out" and buy a 20 series or a 10 series lol. Guess you could call the 2021 the "seller's market of video cards". Plus right now, I think even if I got a video card, I just don't have it in me. It wont do me any real justice, I might as well build myself, than build my computer. So I'm taking initiative and buying a cheap yet suitable vehicle, and hitting the gym. Who knows maybe I'll meet a gamer at the gym who don't care about the money and feels my pain and throws me a nice card. Weirder things have happened, right? haha. One thing I was curious about is if anyone has ever considered making a price comparison chart that's regularly updated. Not for stocks, good luck on that one. But for the price rates of MSRP, Median Shelf price (a middled price of retailers and on the shelf price ranges), scalper prices and finally the Last resort suggested price(LRSP), where a suggested "high-min and Low-max" price is suggested, basically if you can't get your MSRP 3060 for 500$, or marked up at $650 off the shelf, a high scalp price of $2500, a suggested Low-Max is no higher than 1500$, where as your High-minimum could be 1250. (in assumption to the price being unable to go any lower, accept it as a steal and get it, sort of mindset). I tried my best to make that legible.
  11. Went to best buy and went and looked at their "graphics card" the other day. Literally wedged between the wall and a 450$ Asus motherboard. it was a Zotac GT 710 for 75$ (cad) Is there any hope left? I'm seriously getting bummed out. I just wanted to finished my PC and I can't even find a video card. let alone one that actually fits my Cougar QBX.
  12. Thanks for the response! I hadn't seen that one yet. Just checked it out. Seems like a good one with flexibility for what I got. Would prefer something without the Glass panel. I know this one has an additional panel for easy swapping. Would be wasteful. I will consider it but would like to see what else is available too.
  13. Hello. I'll put my parts here: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/sr6TcT I used to have an Asus Strix 980 Ti, it was quite the beast for what I did, of course it had fell behind abit. But it worked. Anyway I sold it for $380 Cad, because I figured I'd be able to get something by then, but I was wrong- Even the 10, and 20 series was long gone from reach. Oh and it had issues fitting into the Cougar QBX case that I had purchased. If I were to keep this case, I'd need to at least find a 3060 Ti that fits. In any case, I'm stubbornly waiting for my chance to get a decently priced 30-series. But because I don't have the option of choosing from a selection, I have to grab what I can get. I need a case that can fit everything in the above list of parts, and possibly have room for a 3080-3090 (if it can hold those, it should hold almost anything right?). Would anyone know if the M-ITX case Linus just released a video of, fit the parts I have and got room for something with a good performance? Edit: I was also looking around and seen the Asus ROG Z11 but that $400 price tag is WAY to much...
  14. There don't seem to be an option to chance the output in-game only the input type.
  15. Equipment & specs: Windows 10 i7-6700k non-OC 2x16GB 32GB DDR4 ram non-OC Non-OC 980 Ti Asus strixx Crucial M.2 525GB SSD + 2x 1TB HDD Soundblaster AE-5 PreSonus AudioBox USB (interface with XLR ART C2 Mic) I've installed Virtual Audio Cable, and Voice Meeter. I've also installed Foobar2000 but it isnt what I need. The information I've been finding hasn't quite lived up to my end goal. I play VRChat and I want to DJ for some friends but the issue I'm having is trying to play music through my voice ingame, and still be able to speak. To date I have gotten this far, the only issue now is VRchat is being picked up along with the music, as are other sounds, i cant relocate their output. Simply put: I want to prevent people from hearing themselves on my end when I play music for them. And would also like to be able to mute or lower the volume on my end so if i need to hear someone, I can, and not cut the music off for everyone else. Can anyone help me with this? I can do screenshare and Discord calls if required.
