Kiryui's Achievements

  1. I have always been a full sized keyboard person, I always used one since I was young so it kind of just stuck. Have never given much thought on getting a 60% sized one but I do see how convenient it would be on the go.
  2. I really really like the industrialized look of the Asus compared to other similarly priced shoddy plastic laptops of the same price .
  3. Dat Smexy QHD screen would be a nice upgrade from my htc sensation
  4. Do people still call phones smartphones?
  5. The Problem I'm running a ps3 media server for my ps3 downstairs hooked up to my tv, streaming off of my pc upstairs. All of my media files are on my 3tb drive that's in my pc. The pc has a pci-e wireless network card in it because i'm too far away from the wireless router to run an ethernet cable to it. Regretfully this is my setup right now since I don't have a ethernet network around the house. I was eyeing up the EOP powerline adapter kits on some sites and thought they'd be a great alternative to what i'm running now. So the setup would be one in my pc room, another in the router room, and the other downstairs hooked up to the ps3.-No idea which speeds would be necessary for what i watch and so therefore don't know which ones to choose. Some thoughts and experiences are welcome Why? Started because i'm having trouble maintaining a stable stream with 720p-1080p content-some are 10bit and/or h264,blurays though this often happens with low bit-rate videos as well Stream is fine at the start, but it starts dropping frames like crazy and i end up watching a slideshow with garbled audio. Have checked with wireless interference issues like phones interrupting the signal etc-all fine What do you think?I can't afford a NAS at all right now, but might be able to save up in the coming months.-would a nas be able to comfortably run the files i described above though, encoding, codecs, bit-rates? Do enlighten me, as i actually want to change the setup. Router- TD-W8960N Wireless card-TP-Link TL-WN951N Streaming software-Ps3 media server
  6. At the moment I'm running a 120gb Sandisk Extreme for an OS, desktop programs and any online games with a 3tb Wd green drive. I'm running the green because of its decent performance, quietness (because silence is bliss ) but mainly because of its high capacity at such a low price compared to the other solutions. I'm running it as a storage drive for single player steam games as well as my massive video library. I use the desktop for streaming the movies/anime/shows to other devices in the house so its almost always on but since I'm so far away from my modem/router, the desktop is using a wireless card instead of an ethernet port, its not that optimal for streaming and file transfers, if I had the cash I would run a NAS for the stuff I described Facebook- Philip Nguyen :https://www.facebook.com/philip.nguyen.37/posts/10202223469695043
  7. Yeah, i really considered getting a lower wattage psu for cheaper too. Seemed to me that i would seek Crossfire as an alternative upgrade in the future, so a psu that could handle that upgrade would still be nice. Thanks for reminding me. :)

  9. Hey guys I'm relatively new around the forum and have been avidly trying to process ( :D) all that i can and learning all that's relative to pc's in general. So i have this build I've come up with and hope to finish in the coming weeks. Hope you guys can give me some constructive criticism about this project. Would mean a lot to me if you did :D. 1.Budget and Location Since I'm from Australia the prices of some of these components may differ greatly, from a 10% to 20% increase compared to US parts. My budget is a minimum of $2300 AUD to a maximum of $2600 2.Aim This rig will be mainly be used for personal use, rather than a multi-user pc. This may include media consumption eg. Youtube, movies, music. Gaming with current AAA titles at reasonably high settings, or running multiple gaming clients eg. MMORPG's High usage of browsing the internet eg. 40+tabs in Chrome :D. 3.Monitors I plan on running either a dual monitor set up or a triple monitor set up with all of them at 1080p for multi tasking and gaming. Don't really know if a 7950 would be enough to power high settings in Eyefinity smoothly. IPS is a must. 4.Reason for Upgrading Been sharing a pc with the family for the longest time and thought that a personal rig was in order. ^-^ Notes The case has to be white :D The rig will be placed in a bedroom upstairs so silence is a big deal. WIll overclock the cpu and gpu. Pc that i was using i5 650, 4gb ram, gt 210, windows 7. Parts/Components picked so far or can't decide upon: OS-Windows 8 $149 Case- Antec P280 White $160 or the Bitfenix Shinobi White $80 (note: don't know if getting either of theses two windowed will impact silence a great deal or not ) PSU- Corsair CX-750 Modular 80+ Bronze $119 Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme6 Motherboard $155 Cpu: Intel Core i5 3570k $259 RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866(2x8gb) DDR3 $189 changed to Corsair Vengenace Pro 1600(2x8gb) DDR3 $179 (thanks to greenroost1445) GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB Twin Frozr III Boost edition $339 Cooler: Xigmatek Dark Knight Night Hawk Frost Bourne Edition $55 HDD/SSD: Western Digital WD Blue WD10JPVT 1TB 2.5inch drive $89 Samsung 840 Pro series 128Gb SSD $149 Peripherals: Corsair Vengeance M65 Artic White $69 Swan M10 2.1 System White $149 2x/3x Acer H236HLBID IPS monitors $199 each CoolerMaster QuickFire TK Cherry Brown Mech Keyboard White LED $109 Total: $2580 with the higher cost parts listed included eg. 3monitors instead of 2/1 Thanks again :) Edit* Changed the 1866mhz to 1600mhz Changed the case to the Bitfenix Shinobi White New total is $2500
