  1. 79xx series is almost double the price of the 13600k
  2. 1) 64Gb of DDR5 is ~$200, so almost double the price, and my workload wont benefit a huge amount from the extra speed. Also I would need a more expensive mobo. 2) Ok 3) Ok 4) 980 is for speed, since reading from storage into memory tends to be a bottleneck in ML training. 6TB hard drive if for dataset collection tasks as well as movie storage. 5) Ok
  3. Budget (including currency): $900 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Machine learning fine tuning/ inference, remote workstation (something I will be SSHing into) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Already got the CPU from microcenter, will also be dropping in either a 3090 or 4090 in a month or two for ML, I am in need of a general workstation rn. I already have peripherals and will be dual booting Ubuntu 18/20/22 (depending on software support) and windows 10 most likely. Mostly need opinions on mobo, cpu cooler (last time i build a pc 212 evos were $20) and PSU. I want 32GB ram sticks so that I can upgrade to 128 later on if needed. I want the microatx form factor since I will be living in an apt and space will be at a premium, and with miniATX i worry that I wont have the space/ cooling capabilities for a 4090. 4. Its for my sister, for whatever reason her XPS is barely able to run zoom and some chrome tabs at the same time, and she says gaming is basically impossible, it gets by, but she wants something better, and will need it for when she goes to college next sem, so is it worth to get now or should we wait until august

  6. I have an old 2011 iMac I want to use a second monitor. I currently have it plugged into my 2019 Dell XPS 15 using (going from mac to pc) thunderbolt 2 -> hdmi -> thunderbolt 3. When I press command f2 (and Fn cmd f2) when logged in nothing happens. I am using the official mac keyboard that came with the system, and have tried all of the troublshooting issues liosted on apple's website. Is there an issue with the way I've adapted it from mac to pc, or is there some other issue that I am missing?
  7. 1st Gens are affected, 3 burning team captains have been unboxed, one is on the market right now for a bit over $1K, some PE and GE stuff, as well as haunted ghosts, to name a few that I have seen. That being said, the crates to get 1st gens are much harder to come by now (crates #1-25), so there will be more of the 3rd gen effects out there
  8. On dell's website its $320, so a bit out of my price range, I dont have any extra money to justify buying something outside the dell website, also what are the pros of this over the d3100?
  9. I just got an XPS 15 and want to have everything/almost everything plugged in via one port so that i can easily disconnect them all when I need to take the laptop out of my room. I will have a keyboard, mouse, and two other usb devices, as well as a headphones plugged in. I would like to be able to plug in an external monitor, but don't know if that is feasible with a hub since I want to game and the hub isn't able to pass through my GPU power to the monitor properly. I still would like to have the ability to plug in other monitors anyway, so that i can use them as extra displays in addition to the gaming monitor. An SD Card reader would be nice, but isn't necessary. I have $200 in dell rewards money, so I preferably would like to buy it off of their site. I am looking at the Dell D3100 but they don't have the XPS 15 listed as compatible, and it has a high number on one star reviews, although I haven't read many of them, so it may just be technologically incompetent people using/reviewing them. I am fine with it not being able to charge my laptop, since I will probably be unplugging the charger a lot as well to take with me if needed. Are there any better/ different options that I should look at?
  10. I am in need of a new pair of headphones for home and when I go to college in the fall, so I was wondering what would be the ideal setup for me. At home I have a regular desktop and at college I will be using a Dell XPS 15 9570. I will probably only be using them in my dorm while at college, and have a separate pair of earbuds or something from other times. I was wondering if having an amp will be a pain because I will be constantly be unplugging it and have extra wires on my desk, and if having a harder to power pair of headphones really makes that large of a difference when listening. Is there a good pair of Bluetooth headphones that would work? I will be using them to game, listen to music, and watch movies and YouTube videos. I was thinking about getting the 250 ohm Beyerdynamic DT880s in conjunction with a Schiit Mangi, but I dont know if the semi-open backed design of the 880s would be optimal with a roommate. Budget is $300.
  11. It does not reach the windows spinning thing, it goes straight from the bios to a black screen. And by backup do you just mean transfer everything to another hard drive? and if so should I just do a straight copy paste from one to another or should I image/clone it
  12. Last night I was defragging my hard drive, then all of a sudden it began to act up, it ran perpetually at 50% and was extremely slow and unresponsive. So I rebooted the machine and when it was booting back up, it made it to the bios just fine and, but then went to a black screen and would not load windows. So I took a hard drive from another computer and was able to successfully boot windows from that and was able to access all the files on the old hard drive. Is there any way for me to be able to repair windows on the old drive? I also have an SSD I planed on installing the OS on anyway, so should I just install a new copy of windows on that and then move all of my files over to it as well and format the old drive? Is there a way for me to clone just the files onto the SSD and not windows?
