Hi Everyone Time to start a new build log. This time we'll have the Cooler Master Mastercase 5 as starting point, the idea is to end up with something that will somehow resemble the Batman Tumbler, will be trying some new materials and hopefully all will come together in the end. Always exciting times when you get to play with some new stuff... :D:thumb: A huge thank you to Cooler Master and MSI for joining the project, it's without any doubts a great feeling to have such prestigious companies believing me and my crazy projects. Without further ado I present to you some of the wonders these two come up with: Batman loves it, according to him it's possible to disassemble the whole thing without using a screwdriver :clap: :jawdrop: Damn! Hi there guys, been a while since my last update but I'm back with quite a bit this time. Hope you enjoy it... Cabling will definitely be a pain in this case an pretty much all cables will have to be made of a specific length, to assist with the cable/hose management I have decided to create some custom cable and water cooling hose clips. Here you can see some of them just before having the bottom edge sanded Before and after... The hose clips ready to be drilled so that I can fit the threaded inserts ...and with the inserts in place. All nice and cosy already in the desk and with same of the cables in place Have decided to go with the Bitfenix spectre pro fans due to the ease of turning the leds on/off. However, not before giving it a bit of a F3nix twist With the nice Silverstone fan dust filters in place. Many thanks to Silverstone once more, they are really of a great quality and near enough invisible when in place!!! Can see some of them in place here... Worked on the back oak panels and the result was this On one of my previous post I've shown you the F3nix headset holder, some of you asked to see a picture of it with the headset in place and here it is, hope you like it I've also started assembly of the internal and external panels and the below pictures illustrate pretty much where I am with the build at the moment... Hello again Be quiet! was again extremely kind and sent me a couple of their noise absorbing kits. This stuff is so amazing that I've done a brief overview of the product. Shown on the last 3 pictures Very thick but very easy to cut to size with a stanley knife ***be quiet! noise absorber kit*** Hope you enjoy it, will be back soon with more updates Mod on!!!

Hi guys!!! Time for a long overdue update, sorry for the delay but been really crazy at work and the work on the desk takes the little free time I'm left with. This update is not about the desk but about the need for a headset holder. As I didn't really like anything that it's currently available what's the only thing I could do? Correct, my own one! Time to do some CAD work This shows some of designing involved, not all parts are shown on the picture. *** Really like this picture*** The last few pictures show the assembly of the headset holder. Time to mod again and it's time to do something about the not so great looking power cords that come bundled with the power supplies. Two great power supplies deserve two visually striking power cords and that's what I'm aiming for... Some of the materials and tools needed... A few other bits and pieces... First, used some dark gray 8mm Teleios to sleeve the cable. Both connectors in place. Repeat the procedure and voila!!! Two power cords Ready to rock with the LEPA G1600 and the be quiet! power zone 850W Mod on!!!

Hi there guys The painting of the F3nix desk continues and is reaching the final stretch. The trays are now being painted a silver marble over black base. Here are some pictures of the result. On to the deep red candy parts now and clear coat to finish off... Black base coat And the marble effect... Mod on!!!

After so much time spent doing the case feet I have decided that due to the weight of the beast and for ease of access to the back the best thing to do would be to have it on wheels. Bit of a waste but better in the end, plus, can always use them on my next mod After some research I ended up ordering these from Israel. Tell you what, there must be a bit of each country in the F3nix, lol, or almost... Decided to go for all black caster wheels, the four in the front are lockable Took the change to install the under desk RGB led lights whilst it looked like a turtle on it's back... lol Another picture of the TMNT!!! lol Mod on!!!

Hi guys There's been quite a bit done before painting the beast but nothing really worth showing as it was mainly fine tuning of some of the parts. As such, decided that it's best to fast forward this a bit and show you the painting process. After some research decided that I'd go with some silver marble and deep red candy effects, had some conversations with Paul at Specialist Paint that definitely helped choosing the right combinations to get the right effects. I'll be learning as much as possible along the way as the next build will definitely be painted by me. However, the amount of parts on one of the work surfaces left me wondering if I should have done a manual to reassemble the whole thing. lol Mr B Neg. Talking about connections and cables. It makes me think about all the cable combs currently available to the public, well, I really like that but I guess I'll have to give it a bit of the F3nix treatment I won't bore you with pictures of the CAD designing but here are a few ones of the finished article. They went down so well that I have made a few to some people that asked for them... The big brother... ...and the whole family. 24, 16, 14, 8, 6 and 4 slots available By the way, there are still a few available Mod on!!!

I'll have a couple of boxes at either side of the desk to keep cabling a bit tidier and hide some of the connections. Forgot to take some pictures of the first few cuts but can still get a good idea of how it was done. First top done and designing the 2nd Ready to cut... And the final result The boxes will screw onto the plates shown which in turn will be secured to the F3nix enclosure Like this... Mod on!!!

Right, difficult to explain this but must admit that I am over the moon for seeing my build nominated to MOTM. When I started it I never thought that would develop into what it is now, this is my first mod ever and I have really and truly been developing my skills along the way, the planning/designing has changed so many times that it's hilarious, I must have done two of everything, lol. However, I do think that it is difficult to visualise where I am going with this as such have decided to post some pictures that will enable everyone to have a better feel for it. Time for another update. This time I'll be showing how I did the feet for the desk. Used 5mm aluminium, a couple of different sized holesaws, 80 and 120 grit sandpaper, some 8mm countersunk screws and nuts and JB Weld Started by cutting all the necessary disks. Some were cut using a 55mm holesaw and others using a 60mm. This was the result, now need to finish off those nasty edges. Secured the disks using a 6mm screws and nut and used the pillar drill create the necessary rotation to sand a lot faster and much more effectively. Started with 80 grit and finished off with 120 In the end that middle screw was changed for a 8mm stainless steel countersunk screw and the nut was changed for a flanged 8mm nut This is how they look installed on the pedestal. Used some 8mm wood inserts to provide the screw thread, the head of the countersunk screw was filled with some JB Weld to provide a nice smooth finish to the end side of the feet. They just need some paint now Hope you like them, will come back soon with more updates

Quite a lot of CAD work and quite a lot of stainless steel panels in this one, love it. Applied the Polyx Oil to the pedestal which made the oak and walnut grain really pop. The pictures will tell the story Render of the pedestal handles Render of the huge front panel ...and render of one of the lateral grills. There were a few other panels/parts done for laser cutting but best to show pictures than renders. Agree?? I call it the light bar and there will be two at the very front of the desk, rgb led strips inside will take care of the colour changes The handles will also be lit but probably red, still thinking about that one... Internal and back grills, both made from matte black acrylic. Close up of one of the lateral grills. Shhhh, Be Quiet You wouldn't believe how heavy this front panel is... Took these pictures right after fitting the wood inserts, just to make sure that everything lines up. Decided to go with Polyx Oil as it is resistant to water and dirt, is very durable and smoothens wood surfaces. It's microporous and does not crack, flake, peel or blister. Extremely easy to repair as any scratches can be sanded off and refinished without the need to do the whole panel. ...and here's the back grill in place with two 120 Be Quiet Silent Wings, the quality of this fans is incredible, no expenses spared and a great final product. Virtually silent an luxurious, not to mention that they look awesome. View from the inside Both lateral panels in place... They are made from 1.5mm brushed steel and a 5mm clear acrylic, ss on top and clear acrylic below. the clear acrylic edge will light up depending on the colour of the lighting and will give the stainless steel sort of a hovering feel to it. I'm liking the look of that, what about you? Will leave you with a video of the moment the pedestal was taken into the house, it's now in the office waiting for the aluminium enclosure to be painted. But that's another story... Mod on!!!

Time for another update!!! This one is kind of a big one and has loads of pictures. I've tried to reduce the number as much as possible without really compromising on the info that I want to share with you guys. The left side of the pedestal will have a couple of drawers and the right side will hold the water cooling gear for one of the loops. The construction is in 25mm thick oak, with a couple of 40mm thick and some more of those lovely walnut mouldings, really enjoy working with wood and even more European oak, love it's grain which really pops when we apply the oil to it, well, that's for another update Started by drawing the plans in sketchup just to have an idea of the final result... anyway, on to the pictures... 3D view of what I'm going for, as per usual there will be some changes to the initial plans, lol Everything starts with the first cut, or should I say partial cut??? That's some of the main bits done Using the biscuit joiner for a nice solid bond... ...and there it is, starting to take shape... A bit more... Using a precision mitre saw to cut the walnut mouldings to size... I'm liking the look of it... what do you guys think??? Used birch plywood for the drawers as it won't warp and cause problems in the future. Quite happy with the result. The drawer runners are soft closing which gives it a special luxury feel. lol More of the walnut mouldings ready and itching to go... ... let's not make them wait Half-way through filing, filling and sanding. Working on the front right cover, will be secure with M5 screws that screw on to M5 wood inserts And that's it, pretty much done. On the next update I'll be showing how I applied the oil, the back and lateral grills and the front panel. Hope you enjoy this pictures for now. Cheers

It's 1.5mm stainless steel. Laser cut and unfortunately don't have a CNC or Laser. Yet
