  1. My motherboard wuit on me so I'm lookin for a replacement, unfortunately I can find the one I got when I built the rig outside of ebay( don't wanna buy off there) so I'm looking for board that is similar, doesn't have to be perfect, just be able to support my setup: amd athlon x4 860k cpu, msi geforce gtx 750ti gpu, and ddr3 1600mhz ram sticks (2x8gb). Either come with newer bios update or have ability to usb bios flssh as I don't have another cpu. Current mobo is asus a88x pro.. https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/A88XPRO/ Budget is around $100
  2. Already tried without the hdds, still did the same thing. I know nothing about linux, and have never spilled anything in my rig.
  3. It wont stay power on long enough to run sfc. I couldnt even do a full scan with my anti virus when I was able to get in one time. Also as I said, everything was fine when I shut down so its got to be more of a hardware issue, but I don't know what else to check..
  4. So, a few days ago, my build was running great. Normal use, ran windows update when it popped up, installed the latest update for windows defender. Back to normal use until shut down for the night. Next morning after hitting power button the pc would power on,start to boot then shut itself off. It would then power back on and attempt to boot again and then shut off again. This cycle would repest until flipping the psu power switch off. Since then I have pulled the cmos, replaced the psu, and atm disconnected the cd drive and front panel usbs. I want to note that a few of the times it did boot fully into windows and I was able to see everything using my gpu and was able to do things for a few minutes before it shut itself off again. Build is as follows: Mobo: asus a88x pro Cpu: amd athlon 860k with hyper 212 evo cpu cooler Ram: 2x8gb g.skills ripjaws x series ddr3 1600 Hdd: 2x WD caviar blue 1tb 7200rpm drives Gpu: msi geforce gtx 750ti tiwn frozr oc edition 2gb) Case: deepcool tesseract bf atx mid tower Psu: brand new evga 500watt bronze bq Running windows 7 64bit. Mouse is a tecknet (sku gm299 and keyboard is steelseries apex 100
  5. Is there a size limit on what a motherboard can handle as for as the size of the external hdd that is connected to the computer? for example, can some mobos only read up to say 2tb while another can read a full 6tb external? i want to get like a 3 or 4tb external, but i want to be sure that the full 3-4tb can be used with my os/components. thanks in advance
  6. my external im using is a 1tb toshiba. it is 3.0
  7. drive is about a year old, not much use tho, i use it for windows obv (on one partition) and videos and pictures on the other. i get decent transfer speeds, like from a usb drive or external, about 20-30mbps but transfer to those is alot slower
  8. i already use defragmentation, and if by short stroking, u mean partition it, ive done that as well..
  9. is there any way to improve data transfer on a hard drive apart from buying ssd? the hard drive i have right now is a 1tb wd blue 7200rpm hd
  10. so which video is the way i want it? (new to the whole building a pc thing) and so you're saying with the two case fans already installed (the one on the front and the one by i/o plate) with the extra 2 i have, use on as intake on the side, and the other on top for exhaust, making it 2 in 2 out?
  11. the case come with a fan on the front (only one spot there) and one on the back already ( by the i/o plate) so the only spots that are left are the two on the top and the two on the side. and like i mentioned, the top has the mesh filter, so i would rather use one of those spots as intake, along with the front fan. and then for exhaust, use the fan that came with the case which sits by the plate, but possibly use my last fan as a pull/push setup, (pulling air towards the exhaust fan). would that be a good setup, or would that cause any issues?
  12. that doesnt really make sense though, the top have the filters, so wouldnt it make more sense to use them as intake since that have filters, which helps prevent dirt and dust from entering?
  13. I bought deepcool tesseract case which has six places for case fans but i will put just 4: 1 x front -fan came with case, used as intake 1 x rear -came with case, used as exhaust 2 x top - no fans currently, does have mesh filter 2 x side - no fans currently, does not have mesh filter i have 2 extra 120mm case fans i can install and a hyper 212 evo cpu cooler that i'm installing as well So my question is, for best cooling, and to minimize dust intake, what would be the best setup for intake/exhaust. I do believe that it is better to have more intake that exhaust, so should i have 2 in, and one out? or 2 in 2 out? Also, if i did go with the ratio of 2 in 1 out, is there a way to utilize the last fan, as like a pull/push on the rear exhaust (pulling air to rear exhaust fan and the exhaust fan blowing out). I'm looking to get the most out of the fans as far as cooling, yet minimize the amount of dust intake. suggestions?
  14. btw, once i get some extra cash, i plan on upgrading the cpu cooler. what would you recommend to get? i want something thats going to be really quite, yea cool really good all the same. also, my case has one front fan, one rear fan. then two open spots on top, and on the side panel, i want to get 1-2 case fans to help cool even more, my question is, how many, where to mount, and if only one, the mount to push air in, or pull out, if two, same thing
  15. @dizmo the 270x was just slightly out of my budget range, and i kinda felt safer going with nvidia. lol and @ApolloX75 yea, i originally had a msi mobo, but after i ordered my cpu and read somethin about needing a bios update, and since i didnt have another cpu handy, i was like shit, gotta find somethin else. it was a little more pricey, but i really like the option to be able to update the bios via flash drive whether i have cpu mounted or not
