  4. Thank you for the kind words. My goal is to create a custom mid tower that is more affordable for everyone. I caught a local customer unbox my Deepcool Tristellar case in my latest vlog and I giveaway a new Thormax GIANT tower, too! To enter, tell me how you would use it in my video comments. Just click on video link to bring you to the comments page. I'll reply to individual I've chosen as winner on 1/16/16
  5. Would people mind having to use double sided tape to attach my custom SSD covers? ....cause not all SSDs have screw holes like the INTEL SSDs I used in that build?
  6. Sweet project build and choice of components, and you're right about PETG, the ratchet gun PETG cutter is worth investment to people who think they will do several builds with PETG and want to save time, but a jewelers hack saw works great too, I've probably cut several hundred feet of PETG tubing over the past 6 months with this gun
  7. Thank you for mentioning and sharing my video. For anyone interested, I had started making the S340 and H440 custom replacement windows last year. I never imagined we would be making factory replacement windows, but the requests by the community couldn't be ignored. I was flattered that people turned to Mnpctech for their solution, and made a huge investment in new equipment to make the windows. I'm now hearing from people with other cases having the same issue with the windows. Corsair, Cooler Master, Fractal Design, and Phanteks all use the same factory for molding their case windows. Consumers were frustrated that they couldn't swap out their factory window with a DIY solution, because of the lip on the side panel and mounting channel for the tabs. I've now partnered with a local cast acrylic company to answer the demand and offer the best clarity and durability available.
  8. Thank you! The Define S is one of my all time favorite cases. This is my Fractal Design Define S build for their booth at Computex. 10. I've been seeing more voucher code transactions from you guys, Thank you for your support! I've posted my last VLOG for 2015 and giving away a new Thormax Giant case, To enter, you must leave comment on YT video page,
  11. Thank you! Darkside LED light strips are 12" long and have 3 pin power connectors so you cna plug thme into your Motherboard fan headers, http://mnpctech.com/pc-led-lights/ They're very bright!
  12. After the Red paint has cured for 24 hours, you can re-install the trim on the bezel. Use Scotch brand low tack Blue Painter's tape to temporarily hold the trim before flipping bezel onto it's face. Apply a drop of Krazy or Super glue to remaining trim pegs protruding through their mounting holes. Allow to cure for 5 minutes, then gently peel off the painter's tape. The painted trim re-installed on the White Corsair C70 side window and front bezel.
  13. ....I'm really liking the Red Trim on this case Backside of White Corsair C70 side panel Comparison of factory Corsair C70 window and laser cut C70 replacement smoked window, http://mnpctech.com/mnpctech-clear-case-pc-panels/corsair-c70-window-replacement-clear-fan-holes-120mm/ The Red paint on the Corsair C70 trim has cured for 24 hours and ready for re-installing. Anti-Mac Skull decal applied to backside of the window. It looks like laser etched surface. Backside of the C70 panel with plastic trim re-installed first. Place the Black rubber grommets over the mounting pegs on backside of the Corsair C70 plastic window trim. Re-use the Corsair C70 factory screws to re-attach the window to the side panel. New Corsair C70 replacement window installed. Next stage is adding LED lighting!
  14. Allow color coat to cure for at least 4 hours in 60F - 72F temp environment before applying 3 coats of Rustoleum Automotive Enamel CLEAR paint in 5 minute intervals. Rustoleum Automotive Enamel CLEAR gaves the color coat a high gloss and smooth finish. I will allow the paint and clear coat to air dry cure for 24 hours before I'll handle the pieces again for re-assembly onto the c70 case panels. While I've got the side panel apart, I'll use this opportunity to swap out the factory perforated fan hole window to custom replacement Corsair c70 window with an "Anti-Mac" frosted transparent vinyl window decal. Stay Tuned for next update!
  15. To remove the front bezel trim, you need to remove the fan filter. The bezel trim is held in place with tiny pegs on backside of the trim. These pegs were melted by the factory to hold the trim in place. Use the Large Flat head screw driver to scrape off the top of the melted pegs. You will use Super glue later to re-install the bezel trim. Use Micro head flat head screw driver to pry off the bezel trim. The front bezel trim is actually four individual pieces, but you can keep the bezel intact while painting it. Use Scotchbrite Pad to scuff the surface of the Plastic on both the bezel and window trim pieces. This will help create adhesion for the primer coat. Skipping this step will increase the chances of your paint chipping off over time. You're taking the time to do this job, so do it right and be thorough. Apply two coats to apply the primer coat. This will help create adhesion for the paint color coat. If using the suggested SEM Self Etching Primer, allow it 60 minutes to cure, in 60F - 72F temp environment. before applying the color coat. Otherwise if using different primer, read the instructions on the can. Apply 5 coats of Rustoleum Engine RED Enamel paint, in 5 minute intervals between each coat.
  16. White Corsair c70 Vengeance Mid Tower case. I've chosen to paint the front bezel and window trim Red. You can use this guide for painting the plastic trim on any manufactured PC case. Here is my suggested Tools & Supplies: NOTE: I prefer using SEM brand professional self-etching primer for all of my paint projects because it's compatible with all material types and dries within 60 minutes in 60F - 75F temp environment. You won't find this specialized product at retail auto part stores. It's normally found at Autobody Specialty suppliers or Amazon. It's very toxic for your lungs, so apply in well ventilated area and wear a filtered respirator mask which is recommended with any other Aerosol paints as well. I can guarantee your paint job will yield same results as mine if you use different paint brand / type in different stages as mine or environmental temps. Large Phillips Screw driver Large Flat head Screw driver Micro Flat head Screw driver Red Scotchbrite Pad SEM Self Etching Primer (Substitute brand OK) Rustoleum brand Automotive Enamel, RED Rustoleum brand Automotive Enamel, CLEAR (not pictured) Super or Krazy Glue Red Scotchbrite Pad I will also be swapping out the window to non-ventilated version. You need to remove the 16x Black screws in the Corsair c70 side panel to remove the factory window and plastic trim. Black plastic Corsair c70 plastic window trim removed.
  17. Awesome, if you ever have time to recall which fans you had seen with e / c-clip, please post them, so I add a list to this guide. Thank you!
  18. Insert the two prongs of the Retaining Ring Plier inside the jaw of the c-clip. If you have a large Magnet, Position it near the fan hub, just in case the c-clip pops off. Holding the black metal c-clip in the Retaining Ring Plier. You will widen the jaw of the c-clip and need to bend it back to it's original opening, so it maintains it's grip. Hold the c-clip in the Tweezer while using a Needle Nose Plier to compress jaw of the c-clip. Doing this will allow you to re-use the metal c-clip. Here is the Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm Cooling fan dismantled If you're wanting to paint your PC cooling fan. You can watch my View of the spring inside the Gentle Typhoon PC Cooling fan, "Be careful, don't lose it!" To re-install the metal fan c-clip, grip the c-clip in reverse position on the plier. Reversing the c-clip on the plier will make it easier to re-install the metal cooling fan c-clip Before releasing the plier, make sure the c-clip is properly seated on the fan shaft, otherwise it will fly off! If the cooling fan label has very little adhesion left, I'll apply drops of Krazy or Super Glue to re-apply the label. The job is finished! Please post other PC cooling fan models you know of that use this same type of metal c-clip
  19. The Nidec-Servo's Scythe Gentle Typhoon (Model# D122C). This fan has been regarded as the best static pressure optimized fan by DIY PC community since it's release in 2008. The original D122C is no longer made, but there is limited stock available at some online retailers. Last year the D122C Scythe GT fan was resurrected and manufactured as "Darkside Black Edition" by Dazmode. It's the same specs as the original, but now has Black fan blades. Many PC Modders including myself have painted these fans to fit the color schemes of our custom PC builds. I've been asked several times over the years how to remove the metal c-clip without losing or breaking it?*This is my DIY guide to removing and installing external retaining ring or c-clip. Like many others, I've also lost these tiny c-clips while learning the best technique for handling this task. Nidec-Servo's Scythe Gentle Typhoon Factory Spec PDF link, http://www.nidec-servo.com/en/digital/pdf/D1225C.pdf* Speed: *2150RPM Air performance : 68.8CFM Nose: 34db (25cm from the fan, free air) Power: 12VDC, 0.123A (0.63A peak max) Operational voltage range: 5-12V (~900rpm-2150rpm) Bearing: Ball Expected life: 100000h/35c or 55000h/60c Appearance: Full black Dimensions: *119 x 119 x 25 mm / 4.68 x 4.68 x 0.98 in WARNING: Perform this task with Safety Glasses, the tiny Black metal retaining ring (c-clip) can and likely will pop off, so perform this task in a clean workspace, so you can find it. I suggest doing the work on a large white bed sheet and holding a large magnet near the fan hub as you remove and re-install the c-clip, to increase you're chances of not losing the c-clip. I haven't found a source for ordering replacement c-clips yet, but I'm still searching. Here is my suggested Tools & Supplies Safety Glasses (not pictured) Heat Gun for removing the fan label. Hair Dryer on HIGH setting will work as well. 10" Wire Cable Tie Large magnet (not pictured) External Fixed-Tip Retaining Ring Pliers Tweezers Needle Nose Pliers Super Glue (not pictured) External Fixed-Tip Retaining Ring Pliers, http://www.saeproducts.com/retaining-ring-tool.html The fan blade looks as if it would snap-on and off, but not the case. We need to remove the back label to access the external metal c-clip on the fan shaft. Swipe heat gun or hair dryer back and forth over the label. Use the Tweezer to peel off the fan label. Stick the fan label on a clean metal surface while you perform your work. You will tie down the fan hub with this Twisty tie. The fan shaft has a retention spring inside. You need to compress this spring, so you can remove the metal c-clip. If you don't, it's almost a guarantee that the c-clip will fly off the shaft faster than a bullet. Using Twisty tie to compress the fan hub spring, by tying down the hub to the fan frame. Close ups of the Black metal c-clip inside the Scythe Gentle Typhoon.
  20. Cool, lf you wish to order my 24" x 12" modders mesh, I offer LTT members 10% off discount voucher code orders, HERE otherwise onlinemetals.com is a great source for ordering large sheets of mesh,
  21. Wearing latex glove, use your finger to evenly smear the ScotchWeld DP-190 epoxy into the perforations of the Round Modder's Mesh Use a cloth or rag, to wipe off any epoxy run-off from the sides of the plate Wear filtered Respirator Mesh before applying any paint. Apply paint in well ventilated area, preferably outdoors with temperature around 72F I'm painting the backside of the mesh first, starting with coat of SEM brand self etching primer. Allow it to cure for one hour before applying Krylon "Rust Tough" "Semi-Flat" Black *paint. Allow "Rust Tough" to cure for 24 hours. Mask off the front frame, and repeat same steps for painting the front of the plate. After 24 hours, remove the tape. Close up of the bezel plate. Step back and admire your work! You can use this technique to attach Modder's Mesh to create cooling vents in other panels. Please share any questions or comments!
