  1. I would greatly appreciate some recommendations for a surveillance camera to put in my backyard, which ticks the following requirements: has its own battery, with good autonomy (~8 hours), no external power source required has good night vision capabilities can record on SD card (or internal storage alternatively) at 720p and higher, at 30fps at least It's important that the camera is highly autonomous and can also withstand outside weather. Discreet dimensions and appearance would be a plus. WiFi / Bluetooth connectivity is not essential.
  2. I wouldn't say they don't work, it's just that i noticed some latency in my system, a problem similar to this one, so i thought IRQ conflicts might be an explanation.
  3. I have spotted some resource conflicts, including an IRQ conflict, on my Windows 10 HP laptop while looking into System Information. Is there a way to fix them and should i be concerned? I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers participating in the IRQ conflicts (16 and 94 respectively), however they get assigned the same IRQs and i can't change them. My laptop has some occasional input lag and i was wondering if resource conflicts could be the cause.
  4. I'm looking for an eBook reader with LCD screen and support for PDF files. I don't care about tablet characteristics as long as it's capable of displaying eBooks and PDFs perfectly and smoothly. Can you please recommend me such a device? I already know about Kindle Fire, which could be a good fit for my needs, but unfortunately it's not sold in my country, so i'd like to see some alternatives.
  5. I think i'll go with option 3, buy a new liquid cooler for my CPU. It's pretty difficult to come by Swiftech components where i live, so i'll probably buy a brand new Corsair cooler.
  6. I checked the CPU temps in BIOS while this happens, they are definitely rising to 90 degrees and more, so it's not an issue with the motherboard. It's an ASUS Rampage V Extreme, by the way.
  7. I purchased a Swiftech H240-X liquid cooler for my CPU in 2015, and apart from a few issues related to fan speed control it's been working pretty well. Starting a few months ago, however, every 1 computer start-up out of about 8-10 fails with a CPU fan error. This is because the coolant in the loop does not seem to be running. If i shake and turn my computer case for a few minutes, then it usually starts working again and the CPU is cooled properly. I can't tell for sure what causes the failure in the first place, whether it's the pump or the coolant. I didn't notice any spills or impurities in the liquid that might block its flow, so i'm not convinced it's time for a refill. When at rest, the liquid level - although a bit lower then it was at the beginning if i recall well - is still between the min and max markers on the chamber near the pump. Can you please advise on how i should fix this problem for good?
  8. Indeed, I was starting to fear that after recently purchasing the headset which many reviews proclaimed as the best on the market - Plantronics Voyager Focus - just to realize the mic pales in comparison with a much cheaper wired Microsoft headset. I will do some research on your recommendation, Hyper X Cloud Flight, and one of its direct competitor models I read about, Steelseries Arctis 7. Thanks!
  9. This modmic you're suggesting is only wired, so it's not really what i'm looking for.
  10. I'm looking for a wireless headphone with the best microphone when it comes to transmitting voice. This is the main factor. I'm not looking for audiophile-level headphones, although good sound quality is of course welcome. I will be using them for work, in the office, paired to the PC. I also want them to be over or on the ears, no earbuds. My budget is somewhere around 200-250$ max. I've already tried Plantronics Voyager Focus but I'm not satisfied at all with the microphone quality. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Yes, i checked and it's still in warranty until September. I guess i'll open an RMA request and see if they indeed identify this as a pump problem. Thanks!
  12. I see, so it seems that my best option is to RMA the card, right? No point in fiddling around with that pump, it looks custom anyway and not easily replaceable.
  13. @Skiiwee29 even so, how can the temps rise to 90C if the GPU load is almost 0? Besides, there is also the other fan that should at least work as a backup.
  14. @Morgan MLGman i can't say for sure, the other fan (it's a hybrid card, liquid + air cooling) is working at 100%, and everything becomes quite noisy.
  15. I have an Evga GeForce 980Ti Hybrid graphics card and it worked smoothly for the past 3 years. Starting yesterday, i'm having a weird problem with it. After some minutes of system uptime, the GPU temperature suddenly spikes to 90-91 Celsius degrees in the course of about 1 minute, and the fan ramps up to full speed. This happens quite sudden, there is no significant spike in GPU load to explain this, it happens even while not gaming. Worse, the coolers are unable to bring the temp down to 30-40C as it was before. Even if i restart the computer, the GPU is still not cooled, i have to wait until it cools down naturally. I replaced the thermal paste and cleaned the dust in the graphics board, without success. I don't think the sensors are wrong, because the board feels very hot when i touch it. I am running the latest GeForce driver (397.31) on Windows 10 Pro x64. What could cause this? Is it a hardware failure on the graphics board?
  16. I disabled XMP on my PC, i'll see in the following days if i get any hard freezes again. Out of curiosity, i temporarily enabled XMP and ran Memtest again, this time choosing a much narrower address range to include the one where i got the original error. Now it went much faster, however even after several hundred passes i got no errors. I assume now it's not as simple as that to pin down faulty memory addresses. I do have the latest BIOS updates and both the motherboard and the CPU (Intel Core i7 5930k) should be more than capable to handle XMP with any memory sticks. I'm pretty sure it's the memory itself who is at fault here. Thanks for your suggestions.
  17. I own a 16 GB DDR4 memory kit produced by G.Skill (F4-2800C16Q-16GRK) and i recently enabled the XMP profile in the motherboard's UEFI settings (my motherboard model is Asus Rampage V Extreme). Soon after that, about a week later, i noticed the first hard PC freeze - no BSOD, no crash log, just screen and sound freeze, after which i had to do a hard reset. 2-3 days later, another crash. Until now i experienced about 4 crashes in about 2 weeks. I wasn't doing anything special - watching a video, running Visual Studio, or even leaving my PC idle. I read that this kind of behaviour is usually caused by faulty hardware, especially RAM. I stress tested my CPU with Prime95 and all went fine. Then, i ran Memtest86 for about 1 day and i got 1 error in 8 passes (~20 hours), as you can see in the attached photo: This is another photo showing the UEFI screen with XMP enabled, not sure if the settings are correct though: My question is, should i be worried about this error? Is there a correlation between the freezes and the error found by Memtest86? As i said, XMP was enabled but i don't think this is something that should push my RAM beyond the manufacturer's limits. Would disabling XMP help, or does the error reveal an irreversible hardware fault in the memory modules which manifests itself regardless of XMP?
  18. I'll have to see if this particular EVGA model allows unplugging its own loop and can be connected to another. However, i'm not sure if simply connecting it to the H240-X would be enough, i suspect a higher quantity of coolant liquid would be needed (a new, larger reservoir) due to the longer, combined loop. This could be a plan for the future, but at the moment i kinda like the idea of having a graphics card that already comes with built-in watercooling, everything hassle-free and ready to roll.
  19. I'm thinking of purchasing a self-contained water-cooled nVidia GTX 980 Ti graphics card, such as EVGA's model. The thing is, i already purchased an AIO liquid CPU cooler, Swiftech's H240-X. I don't intend - at least not yet - to hook up the graphics card to this expandable H240-X cooler. So, they would be 2 completely separate cooling circuits in the same computer - one for the graphics card and one for the CPU. Is this a good or a bad idea? What are the pitfalls i should look for? The case i'll be using is a Phanteks Enthoo Primo, so there should be plenty of space (not sure where to fit the AIO fans best, though, so suggestions are welcome). Also, i have a 1000+ W PSU so powering it all shouldn't be a problem.
  20. 1200 vertical resolution seems unnatural to me, especially nowadays, in the standard 1920 x 1080 Full HD era. I don't want to encounter forced black stripes. And those 1920 x 120 excess pixels are too few in my opinion to make a real difference in picture quality.
  21. I don't really like the idea of having 2 different sized monitors, even if by 1 inch, which in my opinion is non-negligible. The maximum difference i can accept is 0.2", i.e. 24" vs 23.8".
  22. Yes, as i wrote before, i really want the monitor to have the exact 1920 x 1080 resolution, just like my other one.
  23. Thanks, i didn't know pcpartpicker allows this level of detail when filtering out monitors, this is really helpful!
  24. I'm looking for a very good IPS (or similar technology) monitor, 23.8" - 24" in size, 1920 x 1080 resolution. I already have an Asus VG248QE monitor, which is the sole one i'm going to use for gaming - i don't really like the idea of multi-monitor gaming anyway. As most people know, VG248QE is not very good when it comes to colors and viewing angles, even after calibration, so that's why i'm looking for another monitor for all other activities besides gaming. This monitor should preferably be identical in size and resolution with the VG248QE. I'd prefer it however not to have a real response time higher than 5-6 ms. My budget is around 350$ max. Do you have any suggestions?
  25. I don't intend on doing 4K gaming yet - i don't even plan on buying displays with resolution higher than 1920 x 1080 and the idea of multi-monitor gaming doesn't really appeal to me -, do you think it's worth buying the second card too right now? I do intend though to buy a 144 Hz display so i'd like to have average FPS higher than 100 for the highest quality settings in the typical modern games, but as far as i know from some benchmarks a single GTX 980 can reach 100+ FPS quite often for 1080p.
