  1. Thanks for the help everyone! It just successfully booted!
  2. Wow! That helps! Is the CPU cooler 4-pin the same too (Can I use it for the case fans)?
  3. Case: Corsair 450D MOBO: ASRock Z97 Pro4 CPU: i5-4690k CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo GPU: EVGA GTX 970 PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA (Semi-Modular, 750W) RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3-1866 2x4GB
  4. I am a first-time builder, and I am so confused with how to do all the cables. None of the tutorials make any sense. Here are my problems: 1. With the LED and reset switch and power switch pins at the bottom of the motherboard, there is an extra ground pin. Why....? 2. My case has 3 3-pin fans, while my motherboard only has one 3-pin chassis fan connector. Do I need a splitter? 3. I don't have that 2x 4 pin CPU power connector thing. Instead, I have an ATX 12V 8-pin thing. What is that and how can I power my CPU? Can't find the connector in the guide. (ASRock Z97 Pro4) 4. Is there a list anywhere that shows all the necessary things that need to be plugged in and how? Yeah, I'm a noob. I'm really confused. Can anyone help me with this? Thank you!
  5. Are you using the stock thermal paste? Or something else? At the time of me writing this, you (hilariously) have exactly 212 posts!
  6. I've posted this part list before (Slightly changed) and I think I am almost ready to buy. Before I start, though, is there anything I should add? I do have a 1TB external hard drive that I plan to recycle for this build, so I won't have just 250 GB of storage. Also, when I do start, is there a technique that I should use? Like, should I buy everything at once, or wait for things to go on sale individually? Should I buy everything from the same online retailer? (If there was a discount for buying a lot of stuff on the same site or something) Here's the part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MNjDFT Thanks!
  7. When you spaz out when someone has Internet Explorer pinned to their taskbar...
  8. This is a <$1000 gaming/multitasking PC. I play DOTA 2 and WOW. I also have been doing a lot of non-vanilla Minecraft, and a lot of people on the Minecraft forum said to go with hi-speed RAM. I'm using DDR3 2400, so the mobo will need to be overclocked. I plan to fully overclock the CPU as well. I alredy have a keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor, etc. EDIT: I switched my RAM to DDR3 1866 now. Thank you for the input. So, before I go buying the parts, do you have any suggestions for a way to improve it to be more cost-effective? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6GDksY Thanks!
  9. Username: Inertia https://www.vessel.com/videos/G-DUjgUyY (That awesome monitor) and https://www.vessel.com/videos/LCoY5zfFf (The network switch) You guys. Have changed my life. I know I don't post on the forum that much, but when I discovered this channel, I was nowhere in tech. Now, around 6 months later, I'm building a computer, always watch the WAN show, and am learning Python. Keep the good content running on both platforms, I will see you there!
  10. I have a couple sticks of DDR3 2400 RAM. I've been having trouble finding a motherboard that supports it. I found that a lot of them said DDR3 2400 (OC) I'm assuming that that means overclock? If so, how can I do that?
  11. There's an almost-perfectly 5-star 250GB SSD for $130 on Newegg. Is there something that makes it so much cheaper than competition? If not, why don't we all use this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147248&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
  12. I don't understand why a 3.2 GHz quad core from intel is better than a 4 GHz 8 core from AMD... is it quality or something?
  13. I have a build in PCPartPicker, but I was looking for feedback before I go and spend $600. This is a $650 budget. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/RrZq99
