  1. The store did an RMA to AMD, and apparently, there was indeed a problem with the CPU. Bad luck, I guess. The warranty completely covered it, so the store provided me with another Ryzen 5 3600. Thank you all for your help.
  2. The temperatures seemed reasonable to me when I built the PC, but I did not check them regularly. My brother used the PC for gaming during the same week of the problem, and it ran with no issues. If that was the case, shouldn't the CPU have shut down the PC due to overheating during gaming? I drove to the store and delivered the PC myself. I did not drive recklessly nor had to suddenly come to a stop, but I cannot assure something dislodged inside while handling the case (I did not open the case at the store).
  3. Hi, A PC that I built at the beginning of April suddenly stopped posting (no MB speaker beeps). After some tests, I got the motherboard speaker to beep with no RAM in the slots. The RAM stick worked on another PC in the house, so I figured it must be a MB or CPU issue. Since I do not have other compatible MB or CPU in the house, I sent the PC to the store where I got the parts, for them to diagnose the problem. The store called me and said the CPU (Ryzen 5 3600) burned out and that it was an assembly problem. They said I did not mount in the cooler properly, which led the CPU to overheat and die. Let's say that I did not install the cooler correctly: I doubt it, never happened in the seven years since I started building computers, but sure, I could have made a severe mistake this time (only worked with another Ryzen CPU/Cooler other than this one). In this day and age of CPU technology, is this situation still possible? I believed that computers automatically shut down in the case of severe overheating (had it happen to my phone twice using Google Maps), not allowing the CPU to get hot enough to get damaged. I remember that back in the 2000s (Pentium 4 days), that could happen, but not now in 2020. Here goes some context: The PC was built in the first week of April (2 months ago). I had some trouble understanding how to mount the cooler with the AM4 backplate (not a lot of experience with AM4), but in the end, the cooler was mounted successfully. It worked pretty much every day (not at night) until the morning of the 30th of May. (2 months in active use with no issues). It was used for gaming, general web use, and occasionally I ran some virtual machines on it. The PC stopped posting in the morning, and it was shut down as usual the night before. This makes me doubt the "overheating" cause since it does not seem plausible that the computer would overheat by shutting down or by powering up. However, I cannot say if any strange anomalies occurred, since I was not present at the shutdown or the power-up. It was my brother's PC and he does not know much about computers. I did not check the temperatures all the time, but on idle, when it was built, if I recall correctly, the temps were in the 45-55 degrees Celsius range (I could be wrong, it was a long time since I last measured the temps). Last week was unusually hot (around 35+ºC, 95+ºF). The room where the computer was located gets hotter than most rooms of the house (the room gets hit by the sun for most of the day). The PC was turned on sometimes during the day. I highly doubt that one week of hotter than usual temps could dramatically reduce the CPU's lifespan. Since it could be a manufacturing issue, the CPU got sent to the brand, to see if the warranty covers a replacement. What do you guys think about this situation? Could the CPU have died because of overheating due to wrong cooler assembly? Thank you in advance. TLDR: PC suddenly stopped posting after two months of usage. At the parts store, they said the CPU overheated and died because I did not properly mount the cooler. I highly doubt this cause and ask for your thoughts on this issue.
  4. Hi guys, me and my friends, need your help! For a class, we are trying to develop a nice series recommendation app. In order to get a big picture of the user's needs we created this quick quiz for you! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdADSCtLkt6VYWYpWhCwyS9Oa8UdV7HPWJdTgDEcHnZ_aB0cw/viewform?usp=sf_link
  5. It's a cheap brand. Yeah, I'm gonna get a Corsair or EVGA. Thanks
  6. The brand is 1Life. I wanted a Corsair 500W PSU but the store didn't had them, so they sold me that instead. I'm kinda starting to regret it....
  7. Okay, so I just build this system with this specs: Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 MOBO: ASUS H110M K CPU: Intel i3 6100 Skylake RAM: Kingston HyperX DDR3 8GB GPU: ASUS AMD Radeon 7770 1 GB Storage: Kingston SSD 240GB V300 PSU: 1Life Ps:jet 600W Should I change it or it is fine for this system?
  8. I'll be going with the i3 then. Going with the ASUS H110M-C and Kingston DDR4 HyperX 8GB 2133MHz. Is there any benefit from 1 RAM stick vs 2 RAM sticks? Thanks
  9. The problem is that I didn't want to exceed a 400€ budget. Is the difference that great?
  10. Fixed. Sorry, I pressed Tab and enter and it created the topic before I finished writing it.
  11. Sorry I made a mistake creating this post, I'll fix it
