  1. Hey peeps so I am on a university campus where they limit the number of devices i can register to the wifi. Right now what i do is I connect to Uni WiFi on my phone put the phone in hotspot mode and then connect all my devices to the phone. This works fine but everytime i take a call it disconnects and its a lot slower than directly connecting to wifi. Please suggest a solution where a router can be utilized to connect to school wifi, and then create a local network for my own devices where i can connect a lot of devices.
  2. Hi, So i am planning to get a controller. So i have a couple of doubts Bluetooth scenario : I use a Orico Bluetooth Dongle for my desktop XBOX One Controller : 1) Do all of the controls work normally on PC without any fiddling around ( wirelessly ) 2) Does the 3.5mm headphone jack work just normally as a audio output Dualshock 4 : 1) Does the dualshock 4 work seamlessly (wireless) with the PC 2) If not, what do i need extra to connect dual shock 4 to the PC 3) Does the 3.5mm headphone jack and the trackpad and other controls work wireless with the suggested solution And what controller do you guys actually recommend for flight sim and racing games now and then ? ( Bearing in mind that currently dual shock 4 is 40% cheaper than XBOX Controller where i live )
  3. Hey Guys I have been having a few disconnection issues with the internet its so random but its annoying as well. I have complained about this to my ISP , they replaced the entire fiber connection from their node to my house[ FTTH] and the ONU along with all the patch cables. But still i get these connection issues and was wondering how i should proceed to investigate my own network. I run passive POE to the ONU which sits in my balcony. Sometimes blame was levied on this POE but I was able to replicate this issue without POE as well. I tested the CAT 5E internal wiring with a Network Cable tester thingy and its fine all all pairs are connected perfectly. The Router was also removed a few times from the equation to check if that is the problem and I have had disconnections while on a Direct PPPOE from Windows as well. At this point I do not know whose fault it is , the ISP or Mine. Someone suggested to use a ping plotter to cross check and I do not know how to interpret this data. If this says something about the problem, please let me know.
  4. Yup , i realize that mistake now. Can you suggest me a way to convert the drive to NTFS without loss of data ?
  5. Hi, my SSD is NTFS, my hard drives are ReFS. Recently Windows 10 forcefully updated my PC and suddenly both my ReFS formatted drives are not recognized. How do I fix it. I am ready to convert to NTFS but I do not want my data to be lost.
  6. So Far Youtube plays 1080P HDR no problem with the native app. Consider that taken care of
  7. Hey guys, Story on why I chose a 1080P TV with HDR instead of a 4K One : I want to experience HDR content on the 1080P TV with HDR10 support, But since most HDR content is also 4K, If I play a 4K Blu Ray Video with a 4K video player but connect it to a 1080P TV. Will it play ? 1) with HDR at 1080p 2) convert to SDR in 1080p even though TV supports HDR10 3) Outright Not play at all. Will having a 1080P HDR10 Capable TV enough for Youtube to play with HDR or does it also need a 4K resolution for HDR to trigger ? Which among the Smart TV devices should I choose to playback locally stored 4K HEVC HDR10 videos to a 1080P TV with HDR ? (Fire TV 2017, Mi Box 4K, Chromecast Ultra, Fire Stick) Android TV with Nvidia Gamestream and Moonlight Support would be awesome as well. I have a Gigabit Wired Home Network so Network support shouldn't be a problem Thank you guys in advance, if possible please do suggest the best add on devices for me overall for the best experience.
  8. Thank you dude, Turns out, I have to stop buying cheap RJ45 plugs, One of Pins went a bit too in and the socket wasnt able to make contact only with that particular plug. I replaced it and voila solved !!

  10. Hey guys I recently planned to switch my POE injector splitter to Gigabit to facilitate higher than 100Base-T speeds. Now I am stuck in a weird issue as shown in the below picture I am running a CAT5E cable for about 30ft from my router to a wall RJ45 Socket. From that Socket I run another CAT5E cable to the ISP provided ONT (Image 1) I was using a 100Mbps (2 Pair Passive POE injector Splitter earlier). Now I switched to a Gigabit POE injector Splitter (Image 2) After the upgrade i tested it out in dd wrt Console. And it reported my link speed as 100Base-T. So I resorted to testing it out with a network cable tester (Image 3) I am able to get all 8 pairs connected from the wall socket to my router. I inserted a patch cable from the network tester to the socket just to make sure the socket is not at fault. I am able to get all 8 Wires to light up. I again tested from the wall socket to the ISP provided ONT. Again all 8 Wires Light Up However when I link both these cables from the router to the ISP Provided ONT ( The 8th Wire alone goes blank). Beware that this is all before even the POE comes in. Do you guys have any insight as to why this thing is the case ? Isolated Network Layout (Image 4) Image in below post
  11. Nope, I got rid of it, and am trying to configure a VPS in AWS as you suggested, Thank you very much for the help
  12. Now another doubt i hate is, I only selectively tunnel Plex via that port, It is password protected and is a secure connection. Am I still at risk ? P.S I love it and cant get my grip around that its highly highly risky. However I did uninstall everything already and I am just looking to learn more about networking and security in general.
  13. The privacy policy is mentioned along with the Terms of Use. I found this after years of fighting. GOD WHY JUST Why do you hate me?????????
  14. Yeah, and apparently the servers are in Russia. Nothing against russians but you guys are the second worst when it comes to hacking and shit. I am kinda creeped out too. but it works super well. Oh god i found 1 proper usable solution and this it it
  15. Hey guys I found the wonderful new service called portmap.io specifically to address this particular issue an it works amazingly fine. It allows you to forward one port to your pc via a Open VPN tunnel. I think it uses split tunneling to just tunnel that particular port to their VPN servers. Its free for one port and its all I'll ever need . Also it seems its just $30 a year for unlimited port forwards. If you guys do check it out, Please let me know if all my plex data flows from my pc to their servers and then me ? ( Like an actual VPN would ? ) I just want to know if this is just a repackaged VPN for enthusiasts Aside from not knowing if these guys are stealing data or not, this service is amazing. LOL I dont know the legitimacy of the provider but the service is just awesome
  16. This is a different problem than my other post man. Its regarding CGNAT and IPV4 shortage therby limiting me access to my home network from the outside
  17. I got this doubt because the guys who installed the connection brought a freshly packaged ZTE ONT, opened it in my hands, stuck their branding on top of it, plugged it into my router, configured PPPOE and went away. They did call some guy offsite to enable that particular fiber cable. Since they appeared to have done nothing I assumed it so, thank you for clearing it out
  18. I use PPPOE in my router to Login. Does this change anything ? So trying to buy a ONT online and plugging wont works for sure right ?
  19. This is a big problem and the explanation is going to be relatively big so strap yourselves in. Also its a bit of a story as well. I recently got a 100 Mbps up and 100 Mbps dedicated FTTH line from a local ISP for $15 . I have switched between over 5-10 ISP's in India. India is a country with a lot of people and extremely limited IPV4 allocation. ~ 35 million IP addresses for 1.2 billion people. As of Match of 2017, the amount of people with internet access soared to 420 million users, a quarter of it due to a revolutionary company called Reliance Jio, with 4G only, VoLTE calling, fully IPV6 ready networks. Unlike Mobile Network operators who flock to ipv6 due to heavy shortage, ISP's have clutched the egregious abomination CG-NAT aka Double NAT. As I mentioned earlier nearly all of the ISP's have so little IPV4 addresses that they universally adopted CG-NAT. Older ISP's who have enough IPV4 addresses either use Dynamic IP (which for me is fine) or still give out static as a standard. However by literal definition older ISP's are not providing FTTH instead still relying on DSL connections or false branding Vectorization DSL as V-Fiber. As all ISP's do, my ISP also has a paid Static IP service. However that is only available in a business plan. And the Business plans have Data Caps of about 250 GB for a 100 Mbps connection at a higher price. And the static IP charges alone per year is almost half as much as the yearly service bill. I just cant bear to live with a 250 GB data cap beyond which my internet goes back to stone age 512 kbps, a increased bill of almost 75% extra just for the "pleasure" of having static IP. My ISP is relatively small and although I would consider myself a noob in networking, those guys are even more so. I begged them to enable the support for IPV6. However they haven't bought any due to the fears that some of the equipment in people's home wont support it, it does not add value to the sales pitch, and they have to shell out for ipv4 NAT anyway. They pretty much said to me I am the only guy asking for this and its just absurd. I run a Plex Server in my Home. Since I am stuck behind CG NAT for the past year or two, Its useless other than for local streaming. At least during the time of ridiculous mobile network speeds I could have convinced myself to scrap the Plex idea. However I pay $7 Flat fee prepaid per month for 2 GB per Day 4G LTE only network ( with 90% network coverage all over India including rural areas with 100% coverage expected by next year). And I use 0% of it because I am behind a damn CGNAT and bored whenever I leave my house. I have already tried running a VPN as a default to Pure VPN's dedicated IP service and reverse SSH tunneling to my Network. It is super slow and slows down pretty much everything. Here is the scenario : 1) All expected client devices for the Plex Server support IPV6. 2) The server does not have access to an IPV6 address because the ISP does not support it. 3) I get a private IP address from my ISP and am not able to reach my network behind a NAT. 4) My ISP will offer little to no help whatsoever Question : What is the best fastest solution to expose my Home Network to the Internet ? If a solution that I have mentioned as already tried sounds the best to you and/or have a similar but faster approach please let me know. Thank you guys in advance
  20. Oh okay, Awesome. I guess i ll have to borrow an ONT from someone and check if it works. Also do you know if there is a way to check. Like a configuration page or something, like a modem would have ? I thought all connections via FTTH were GPON? ( Sorry I am noob in Fiber Networks ). Am I wrong. Yeah exactly, An ONT is the (FTTH) fiber version of a Modem. It converts Light Signals to Ethernet.
  21. Hi, My friend's ISP charges him about $20 as a rent yearly for providing a ONT device from ZTE. It takes in SC APC Connector on one end and gives RJ45 Gigabit on the other. Can I buy say the any ZTE GPON device or the Ubiquity UFiber Nano G as a replacement for it ? In short what i want detail I want is, Does a GPON ONT device just convert fiber to Ethernet ? or does it require some configuration ? I doubt the ISP's knowledge of configuring an access point let alone a self owned GPON.
  22. I am just wondering how often do you pirate stuff ?
