  1. Hi guys budget of $2500 CANADIAN Looking for a laptop on the bigger side. I've linked a couple i was looking at. must haves: - numpad or dedicated navigation keys (or both) - bright screen - good build quality --> mostly aluminum, don't really like plastic - good reliability --> ofc, this depends but overall i guess. - backlit keyboard As for games i'll play, mostly just GTA V and MMOs, along with warzone. Just need something i can use daily that also plays games. Dont mind treating myself with something that packs more than what i need Here's a few i was looking at: https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00124152 https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00124151 Alienwares M18 was also something i liked, they are about $2500 after coupons currently and much bigger screen
  2. Budget (including currency): $1800 CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Microsoft office, day trading with 1-2 external 34inch 2k displays running multiple charts and a broker (Takes about 9gb of ram on my current desktop) Other details: must have backlit keyboard, good screen and battery life, at least decent enough speakers with good volume, 16gb ram is a must, storage idc, touchscreen is a plus but not required, numpad is a must. i will most likely use a dock when day trading, 15inch screen is a must. BUILD QUALITY IS A MUST. i don't want cheap plastic, been there done that. I also don't want some thin macbook imitation. currently i bought this from costco to test out: https://www.hp.com/ca-en/shop/product.aspx?id=378X9UA&opt=ABL&sel=NTB It has everything i need except the numpad. I'm also very confused at if i even need a gaming laptop for hooking up multiple 2k displays... especially at what i paid for this ($1300), i see some gaming laptops around similar price.
  3. Ok so what's really weird is If I plug in the keyboard to another laptop it works normally. As soon as I plug it into my PC it starts going nuts...
  4. I've tried two different keyboard. Nothing works, tried different usb ports too It's windows 10 PC I7 4790k 16 GB RAM GTX 1660 Motherboard is z97 I think
  5. See original post for background Anytime I plug in any keyboard, my computer keeps pressing a billion keys. I've tried different keyboards, different usb slots, and even reinstalling keyboard drivers ORIGINAL POST: So, I didn't download anything sketchy or do anything new but this is what happened I was on my phone when suddenly a bunch of random things started opening on my laptop. It looked like all the keys on the keyboard were being pressed. I replugged the keyboard and it continued I reset the computer once, same issue The second time I reset it I got the message (see attached) Nothing happens. It just freezes here. Any idea? Maybe some sort of virus??
  6. Budget is upto 1800 CAD The primary use will be day trading. Also some basic photoshop, web browsing, etc. Battery should last at least 6-8 hours if im day trading. So, a broker application open, charting software, discord, and one stream (i.e. CNBC) will be open at that time. If i'm docked, battery wont matter ofc since i'll plug in but most of the time i'll be mobile.
  7. title I need a laptop that i can hookup to 3-4 monitorsat once, aswell as use portably. So, battery life and performanceare key. Ive heard the M1 Air is a great choice.
  8. full health scan showed no errors hard disk sentinal download keeps failing half way, hvent gotten it to work yet
  9. Title.. I got an asus zenbook about 5-6 years old, i7-7500U with 16gb of ram Problem is, it freezes up recently. by freeze up i mean it starts to lag and freezes for a few seconds. I tried monitoring cpu/ram usage as well as temps but nothing. it even freezes up 5-10mins into start and low temps (~40s), and even if ram/cpu usage is like 10-20%. I've tried disabling throttling, scanned for viruses, even reformatted... but nothing is helping. maybe its the hard drive (SSD), any way to test that? Read/write speeds seem ok.. edit: power settings are all good too, max performance cooling etc.
  10. Title Not looking to move to apple. I currently have an S10 which is great because of the expandable storage. I mostly use my phone for music and general stuff, and sometimes gaming when I am bored. I'm a heavy user for the most part. here's what im looking for: Battery: Preferably 6+hrs. Camera: Obviously better than my S10 is a must Display: Not too picky Screen size: I want something bigger than my S10 Speed/Performance: I need it to be snappy. Storage: Well, 256gb is probably what i want since thats what my S10 has(128 internal+128microsd). I know most phones dont have microSd... I was looking at the s21 ultra and Fold 3. Leaning towards fold 3 for the OPTION to have a bigger screen when needed.
  11. I have an asus ux330u zenbook and when the fan has to speed up to cool (if im playing light games, prolonged use),the fan will speed up and 3seconds later it comes to a hault with a grinding like noise. It stays off for 2-3 seconds and tries to go again at full speed and repeatsthe same. I did open the backplate and noticed nothing odd, but didnt fully open CPU fan. What should I do? I looked at replacement parts which cost me about $80 to ship in.. I can probably change myself. But before I do that is there any other method i can use to fix this?
  12. Is there much difference with the usb sound card adapters or the actual sound card? I see these usb sound cards for as cheap as $5
