  1. Yeah latest BIOS, I basically said to ASUS that it seems like a firmware problem and their statement was "The reported request has been recorded accordingly." So yeah...we'll see if they ever get round to fixing it...
  2. I just want to see if anyone else has the same 'problem' I have. Prior to POST, my GPU fans run at 100%. A second or so before the POST 'beep', it calms right down. This never happened on my Z390 build with the same card so it's not the GPU's fault, so I'm wondering if it's a chipset thing. I'm running an ASUS X670 board, and a friend of mine who has an ASUS B650 board doesn't seem to have the same thing. Just curious to see how many others have this as ASUS have just come back and said "it's normal" but it's annoying having a jet engine for 20 seconds whilst AM5 posts... :D
  3. I currently have the XB271HU which is just coming up to 2 years old but I just won a Samsung 34" G55T in a competition (https://www.samsung.com/uk/monitors/gaming/odyssey-g5-34-inch-165hz-curved-ultra-wqhd-lc34g55twwrxxu/) Should I just sell the Samsung? Should I swap our my Acer for it and perhaps try to sell the Acer? I did some research on RTings on both monitors and it's hard to compare since they're quite different from each other, my gut feeling is just sell the Samsung but wanted to hear if anyone else had other thoughts?
  4. So I've whittled down my list to 3 monitors. I'm in the UK and my budget is max £500, but would ideally like it around the £350-£450 mark I want a 1440p, 27", 144+hz and I've got down to these Acer Predator XB271HUA + Actual GSync AOC AGON AG271QX + Cheaper than the Acer for similar spec but without GSync Samsung LC27HG70QQUXEN -"Gsync" low of 48hz -Large Stand +HDR600 I've been using rtings.com to read all the reviews of those, the Samsung looks great but that "GSync" low could hurt me, although I have a 2080 so wouldn't notice it for a few years I would hope. Has anyone had personal experience with the above? Any thoughts welcome, apologies for another "Help me find a monitor thread" but I have hopefully redeemed myself a bit my at least doing some research first and not just posting a spec sheet and asking for people to find a monitor for me!
  5. Why on earth did you necro this thread?
  6. I don't really, I've never used an IPS display myself but I know someone who has, and going from IPS to anything else is going to hurt you initially...
  7. Movies don't make a blind bit of difference from what I can tell. I had to re-adjust from 144hz to 60hz when I won a 2080 as it doens't have DVI output and my monitor only does 144hz over DVI so I have quite a good understanding of your questions here! No, it won't, each monitor will run independently UNLESS you 'duplicate' the screens. As long as you extend and not duplicate you'll be fine. I genuinely, and I'm not exaggerating, performed a LOT worse at fast paced games, Overwatch being my most notable example for me, when going from 144hz to 60hz, I SUCKED (more than usual) when adjusting down. I simply did not get the accuracy as I could previously. TL;DR, 144hz all the way
  8. Cheers @SpookyCitrus Yeah I've done a bit more digging since and came across these which are 1) pretty cheap and 2) good reviews I still feel like not going to 1440p is going to not exactly be an upgrade, and tbh I might just stick with 1080p60 for now and see if I get used to it https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-XF240Hbmjdpr-Monitor-FreeSync-Adjustable/dp/B01684HUJU https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-KG271Bbmiipx-Monitor-FreeSync-ZeroFrame/dp/B07B3Y3Q2N https://www.amazon.co.uk/AOC-G2590PX-Widescreen-Multimedia-DisplayPort/dp/B078S36M7Y I'm not overly fussed on G-Sync, but that could be because I've not seen it myself in person, it's just one of those things that I don't know I need it and It's probably best it stays that way
  9. @ArduinoBen this is the exact thing I have, I have the BenQ XL2411T
  10. It's the monitor. It only accepts 144hz over the DVI-D connection, and my card only has DP, HDMI and USB-C for VR. I could get a DP to DVI-D adapter but they're like £50-100 and reviews are iffy...
  11. Thanks both, yeah I was thinking about sticking with 1080p @ArduinoBen, but it feels like such a sidegrade rather than an upgrade. It's just so annoying that I'm having to invest in another monitor purely because the HDMI on mine doesn't output at 144hz...I was thinking about this if I was going to stick with 1080p https://www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MAG241C Not sure I can see anything wrong with that for that price
  12. Hey guys I just got a 2080 and realised my current monitor only outputs 144hz over its DVI input which my card has no output for. Can you recommend a half decent but inexpensive high refresh rate 24" monitor? I'm thinking 1440p now as well since I might as well up my resolution whilst I'm getting a new monitor now.
  13. Hi All, I've just got my hands on a 2080 through a work auction and it's dawned on me that my 550w PSU may not be up to scratch to power it. I only recently upgraded my PSU in September to a Corsair CX550m never thinking I would get such a hungry card, but here we are. I've got a stock clocked 9600k on a Gigabyte Aorus Pro Wifi Mobo powering 1 HDD and 3 SSD's. My PSU knowledge is pretty weak, and I know each system is different, but if I do give it a crack with my 550w PSU and it does have issues due to the low wattage, am I to expect simply 'weird' things such as reboots, slow downs, or can I expect (from what some people have said on other forums) to have components 'fried' due to the strange voltages going on? Or would you guys expect a 550w PSU from a reputable company such as Corsair to do the job? Any responses appreciated!
  14. Cheers all, there's no rush really so I'll wait til CES is done and most likely go for the i5
