  1. This would be a nice upgrade for my 5 year old system. I can't even imagine how fast premiere pro would be with this beast
  2. all the boards from newegg have some low performance atom or amd fusion cpus installed - unfortunately i don't want any of these... i need something with a "normal" socket to install a cpu with a bit more power and from what i've seen, msata is missing on almost all of them the gigabyte boards are b2b models and therefore not meant to be sold to private users. that's why i'm looking for a store that sells them anyway, even if i have to get them from outside of germany... anyways thanks for the answers so far
  3. Hey guys Does anyone know where I can buy one of Gigabyte`s embedded ITX boards (i.e. the MSH87DI http://b2b.gigabyte.com/products/list.aspx?cg=12&p=229&v=15&ck=112 )? Or does anyone know any similar boards, especially with lvds, msata and 12V or 19V input?
  4. ok, from what i've seen, this one http://www.panasonic.co.nz/products/home-entertainment/dvd-and-blu-ray/dmr-xw390/ is available in australia the manual says it can play videos in divx, MPEG2 and MPEG4 AVCHD/H.264
  5. no, it's not a tv. unfortunately i'm from germany, where manufacturers offer differently named devices than in australia or the us. so i can't really say which one is available in your country. but a good example would be a panasonic DMR-EH545 where you can choose between recording on hard drive or dvd and can play back media from usb.
  6. there are tons of deviceses like dvd or hdd recorderes with an integrated usb port and some kind of media player solution. the problem often is, that the supported codecs are fairly limited, but afaik panasonic does a good job
  7. just to make it clear: i first extract the lightroom_4_setup.exe, which automatically launches the setup64.exe afterwards. extracting the lightroom_4_setup.exe to the desktop works just as fine as extracting it to a different location. it doesn't make any difference. but as soon as the setup64.exe is launched, it automatically extracts the msi-file to a unknown destination. as soon as the msi-file is supposed to launch, i get the error message. but i can't find or move the msi from where it's supposed to be launched.... a special character like the ' in the msi's file path could, as i already said, cause problems with the install shield, but i don't really know... the only way to get rid of the ' is afaik a fresh, clean install of windows, but that's the last thing i want to take into consideration.
  8. hi guys! i got a strange problem. i'm trying to install photoshop lightroom 4 on a buddys Windows 7 x64 machine. first of all - the setup files are ok, they worked on another machine i tried it on and i copied them 3 to make sure they're not corrupted. so, the problem is that lightroom_4_setup.exe is starting and extracting the setup files to the desktop, which works fine. after this, setup64.exe (InstallShield) launches and is extracting the files for the "real" setup. the last file it is trying to extract is the .msi file, where it gets stuck for a few seconds, and then an error comes up: "The setup couldn't be opened. please make sure the package exists and you have access to it. make sure it's a valid windows installer package" (translated from german ;) ) then the setup stops and nothing happens... :/ one thing that (imho) could be related to the error is, that my buddy chose a user name with a special character (guido's), which already caused some other problems on his machine since the file path often contains his user name. could anyone confirm that this is real cause? other things i've already tried are: - windows update - checking if msiexec/windows installer is running properly - some microsoft FixIt - un- registering msiexec - running the setup as admin - tring the 32 bit setup - choosing a different location for the setup (which, it think, won't help since you can't set the extraction location of installshield) would be great if anyone has an idea on how to fix this thanks in advance! ;)
  9. a lot of things could have changed since i used sonos the last time at work, but could it be that your NAS doesn't have a built in media server and thus your sonos can't find it? it looks like sonos is playing the music from your pc, which (when media sharing is turned on) serves the music - do you have selected your NAS instead of your PC in the settings?
  10. Thanks for your answers, I think trying the phones in a store is a good idea, but the Lumia 820's features are really a good point. especially wireless charging, since micro USB is the worst of all the connectors they could have chosen from ;) my current phone is only charging when the cable is hanging over an edge :P
  11. sorry, took a bit longer than i expected, but that's what i was talking abour earlier: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/powershell/archive/2009/04/03/setting-network-location-to-private.aspx ;)
  12. I know that there's a way to do it with a batch file. I'm currently not on my computer, but i'll look for it later :) Maybe you can do it with powershell, to since it's already a part of Win8
  13. thanks for the amswers, they confirmed what i expected - my phone is getting old :/ Through my provider, i could get either a lumia 820 or a 8X for the same, reasonable price. Which one would you go for?
  14. hi there ;) I just ran one of the few benchmarks for Windows Phone on my HTC 7Pro/Arrive (Specs: http://www.phonearena.com/phones/HTC-Arrive_id5170) with WP 7.8 - AnTuTu Benchmark 0.8.0. I've been using my phone every day for the last 2 years without resetting, but within the last 3 months I realized that it's getting a bit slow. The results I got were: Memory: 343 CPU interger: 646 CPU float-point: 388 2D graphics: 245 Database IO: 105 Storage Write: (1.3 MB/s) 13 Storage Read: (10.8 MB/s) 108 Total Score: 1848 in comparison to that the results of a HTC 8X (Specs: http://www.phonearena.com/phones/HTC-Windows-Phone-8X_id7224) are: Memory: 690 CPU interger: 5486 CPU float-point: 3969 2D graphics: 305 Database IO: 395 Storage Write: (320.5 MB/s) 174 Storage Read: (161.2 MB/s) 221 Total Score: 11248 I know that the 8X has much better specs, but I didn't expect my 7Pro to fall so far behind - especially the storage rates are disastrous. Are these normal results for such phones? Or does anyone have an idea on how to speed up my phone or know if a reset would make a noticable difference? Thanks in advance!
